Strength:
Pleasing on the Eye. Uncompromising design.
Weakness:
Sub woofer a bit boomy. I must admit I got this equipment for its look rather than the functionality. But I have been very impressed with the acoustic quality of the soundspace8. It is made for my kind of music smooth jazz, slow jam etc. I previously owned a Kenwood stacker system, the Nakamichi has put my old system to shame for sound quality. Now it is a joy to listen to my music collection, I now hear things with my Nakamichi I never thought existed. Amazing! Similar Products Used: None |

Design, Size
Weakness:
Ventilator noticable, stereo effect is weak. Wanted a system that looks great and sounded alike. After hearing it in the store I was a little disappointed regarding the stereo image and bass toning. But after trying other design sets there is no other set offering this design and sound. I bought a demo model (cheaper) and after some experiments regardiung placement and subwoofer level I'm very happy with it. Similar Products Used: ALso listened to Yamaha Pianocraft set (sounds equally good), Denon MD?150?? set, (sounded better), Marantz slimline (crap), B&O (crap), Linn (excellent but too big and expensive). |

In my opinion, I would have to say there are none.
Weakness:
Remote controls are very poor in strength and in use. Speakers are very static. After reading good things about this product I was expecting a good listening experience. Unfortunately, the unit I have purchased does not provide that service. The speakers have a lot of static, I have to turn the volume up to 10 to hear the music over the static. I have tried many things to fix this problem without suceeding. The remote controls have to be pointed straight at the unit and the buttons pressed 5-6 times to get the unit to respond to any of the remote control buttons. I usually have to walk closer than 10 feet for it to register. One of the buttons, the memory button hardly works at all and sticks down into the hole on the controller when it does work. You have to stop the CD player to exchange CDs. The controllers are very confusing to use also. In short, I would never buy another piece of crap from Nakamichi. I am looking to replace this piece of crap, probably with a Yamaha product which is cheaper but a much better listening value and experience. |

Strength:
Visually stunning
Weakness:
Volume distortion; Quality control poor Beautiful package - fell in love at first sight. SOunds excellent, definitely a step above standard mini-systems, even with the distortion frm the satellites at higher volumes. There appear to be quality issues, however, as I prepare to return my second Soundspace 8 which mysteriously ceased to produce sound or show any evidence of power while playing at about 80% volume. I've had the second unit on power conditioning equipment, so it's not dirty surges putting the equipment out of commission. Nakamichi seems to have slacked on the quality control here. Sound quality & Price This unit has a very good design, you can put the satelites everywhere, put it on a stand or mount it on the wall. Similar Products Used: Yamaha Pianocraft, Denon DM-5 |

GREAT DEPTH ON BASS ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE LISTENING TO RAGGAE AND STRONG SOUNDING NEW AGE MUSIC.
Weakness:
THE REMOTE CONTROL TAKES A WHILE TO MASTER THE FUNCTIONS. A GREAT COMPACT HIFI SYSTEM THAT TAKES YOU ON ANOTHER LEVEL OF LISTENING IN WHICH SIMILAR HIFI SYSTEMS COST MUCH MORE . Similar Products Used: JVC FS-SD 5 EXECUTIVE SERIES |

Strength:
Excellent design, very well organized dual remote control system
Weakness:
Speakers are not worth the price. This system is excellent for anyone who will not put their system to the limit; not in high volume, not with high or low frequencies. Comparing it to floorstanding speakers (which are around 130 bucks), they put the nakamichis to shame. A better product would a Bose or (if you have the money) a Harmon Kardon system |

None I decided to get the SS8 after seeing it at a store, I didn't even listen to it. After all, a product from Nakamichi couldn't be bad. |

Poor sound quailty (mid & high) The sound quality of soundspace 8 is sucks, not better than many mini system in this price-range. It's much better than soundspace 5, so you can think how is the sound quality of ss5 (worse than mini JVC) Similar Products Used: denon d-m10 |
