Strength:

Wide sound stage. Detailed highs without getting too bright. Great mid range. Bi-wirable. They accept bannana plugs.

Weakness:

Harsh out of the box.

After you hook them up at first, you will want to go back and hurt the salesman that sold them to you. They sounded like razor blades to my ears until about a twenty hour break in. Now they are gold. The midrange keeps getting better and better as well. I have about 50 hours on them now and they are still improving. I thought my CC6 center was great until I got these. The CC6 is very good but you may want to get the next B&W center up to match this greatness. I have searched for several months for speakers and believe these are the best for the price. If you want better you will have to spend a few hundred bucks more. I usually don't give out a five but I haven't heard anything up to $900 that comes close to these. Save money on fronts by getting these and add a CT-150 Velodyne sub for the gut wrenching lows and you are set.

Strength:

Clear sound, good tweeter, nice midrange, ok bass, works fairly nice with similar priced amps,

Weakness:

goes not very deep (can't expect it either due to price and size), sound quality relies very much on cables (like everything else)

I like this speakers, and that why I bought myself a pair. They are very nicely priced, infact they are really cheap considering the quality of the sound delivered by them. They have a real good midrange, which really kicks life into the music. At first I didn't like the way it presented the electric guitar - it seemed like it pulled the el guitar out of the soundpicture, it kind of disapeared - but after I had used them for a month or sound, the el guitar came to life. It really rocked. Alive/Pearl Jam got a new meaning and Knut Schreiner's guitar (Kaare and the cavemen) sounded extremly well on the 602's.

My amp - Denon PMA-715R - has an output of 2*65W and works pretty good with the 602's. Maybe a more powwerfull amp could have brought the speekers to a new level, but for now I have to settle for what I've allready got. And maybe one day I can connect a Krell or a DP amp to the 602's...

This is a bargain because you get what you want for your money (a small amount of money): A pair of speakers that deliver quality sound!!!!!

Strength:

Brass, guitar, and classical music sound great
Lot's of bass for a bookshelf!
B&W's superior quality trickled down to an affordable speaker
Beautiful to look at with the grills off!

Weakness:

Need to be matched with a sub for organ music and HT.

These speakers matched with the musical Denon receiver will give you an awesome sounding system for a fraction of the cost of setups with comparable quality. B&W has finally made an affordable speaker that incorporates many of the features of their higher models such as the Kevlar midrange and aluminum dome tweeter. Great speakers to form the beginnings of an expandable HT and audio system. You just can't feel bad about owning these speakers.

Strength:

Imaging, Build Quality, and Sounstaging

Weakness:

Tweeter Coloration (typical of B&W's)

Overall good buy at retail pricepoint. Imaging is good but actual placement is rough. The tweeter coloration can be annoying on certain recordings. On the proper stands, low end is decent and tight. These speakers are a good buy in my oppinion.

Strength:

very natural and musical sounding, superb for music and home theatre, very stylish!

Weakness:

muffled sounding before adequate breakin, power hungry!

the 602 series 2 are superb bookshelf speakers!!! i wanted the 805s, but they are a bit pricey for a college student!

the 602s sound a bit muffled until they are broken in adequately. then the soundstage really opens up...these speakers need good stands (i got some Lovans) and biwire cable to really get the full effect.

i have the b&w 602 series 2 for fronts, 601 series 2 for rears, and cc6 center (the only disappointment of the set...i will soon be upgrading to a LCR6) they excel for music and home theatre, dvds sound superb. they r very good for classical music also...did i mention the look KILLER?

highly recommended! go listen to theses babies, you wont be disappointed.

Strength:

Good overall range and sound

Weakness:

Not the best quality, but a good quality

I give this product 3.5 stars in both areas. It is a good speaker, but it is not an excellent speaker. When dealing with budget issues or series issues of different speakers there is always a trade off between the sounds. Some will produce better on the high end some on the low end or mid range. The beauty with this speaker is that with some extent you are getting an above average piece of it all. The what could be disappointing part, is that the highs are a little bright, and the bass a little punchy. These speakers are catering to people who want to fill up a smaller room with good sound, and play many different forms of music and not lose a drastic amount of sound quality when switching from one genre to the next. Once again the highs aren't amazing and classical music may not sound as sharp. I do not recommend these speakers to anyone who just wants to listen to classical music. Tweaking is necessary to find a quality, comfortable to listen to, but it is there. I would recommend this speaker to anyone who realizes this is close if not the best overall sound you can get at this price range, but know there is better and be able to deal with it. There is a reason why it has been a succesful speaker, balance your criticsm and it can be worth it.

Strength:

excellent dynamic range and pristine imaging...these kick butt!

Weakness:

none

i got these babies last week and knew the moment i heard them that they were te ones. i was in the market for a new pair of $750ish mains....something smaller than towers and bigger than bookshelfs...that sounded good. i speant all day taking radiohead's KID A to stereo shops and listening. i had heard some missions(which my dad has, and i thought sounded great and wanted), some $900 klipsch (they sounded good but were over priced), and some infinity that were non impressive and underwhelming (besides i'm biased....i've blown 3 pair in ten years).

then....i heard the B&W DM602 S2s.....cripsy yet mellow...phat sound....great detail...the best imaging...and a great price for what i was hearing. i bought them and rushed them home. i bi-amped them to my sony ES amp (crappy in comparison to what i demoed them on at the stereo nerd shop) and sat back and have been enjoying ever since.

these speakers are exactly what i was looking for...
they are great for home theater and 2 ch stereo. i have a klipsch sub woofer which they match nicely with for DVD listening....but i prefer to listen to just the 602s for CD and vinyl listening....

i'm hearing things i nver heard before in my collection. i strongly recommend them to anyone who wants a great mix of quality...versatility...and exceptional value. (they look cool too!)

I need to update my review. I figured out what my problem was. Well actually my dealer did. The cones were loose in the cabinet and air was leaking underneath them. A couple turns of an allen wrench made all the difference. Now I'm impressed. I took the time to really dial in my listening room yesterday, and listened to these speakers for about 5 hours. I can't believe I was listening to $600 speaker. Now that I can get them to play cleanly at realistic volumes they are just amazing. The mid range is scary realistic. I listened a lot female vocals, and damn they sounded so open and realistic. You could hear every breath Dar Williams made. The bass, although missing at the lowest octave, is tight and accurate. If you have $600 to spend on speakers, do yourself a favor and listen to the 602's. I can't wait to go home and listen to more of my collection.

Strength:

Very good highs and awesome midbass. Sound quality says it all.

Weakness:

Needs lots of power to show its potential.

The best multi-purpose speaker I ever listen too. Sounds like the artist is right in front of you. You can hear the different types of instrument playing in the music like it is a live concert. I woulndn't ever give these speakers up. If you got the money you should get it asap.
