Strength:
accuracy bass
Weakness:
ugly appearance starnge shape I bought this speaker because of it's quanlity.price ratio and because of the review give by Alan L. Maier . Like he said, the speaker does not sound good at all fresh out box. But after about 20 hours break in. The sound start to getting good. The bass is powerful, and the sound is accurate and clear, for it's price, I think it is one of the best deal on the market! Similar Products Used: bose 201 IV, B&W 601 s3. |

Strength:
The strenths would probably be the accuracy, and the base.
Weakness:
For the price, nothing. Nice accuracy, nice bass, nice pair of speakers. I am very impressed with the overall performanceof this pair, and with the price I paid there is nothing wrong with them. Even for 150 it would still be a pretty good deal. |

Strength:
Price, build, everything about it..
Weakness:
None for the price. Excellent speakers for the price. Since I live in an apartment, their bass is more than enough (although I still have a basscube 10 anyways). Midrange and highs are clear as far as I can tell. Couldnt really tell a difference in the store between them and some of the much more expensive models (M80, etc). Also, I think the things look pretty good, a classic style to them in my opinion. Im going to get another pair for the rear speakers in this system personally. Similar Products Used: an old set of marantz bookshelf speakers and a few low end models. |

Very accurate musically 10 years warranty 45 days money back Outstanding construction and finish very affordable
Weakness:
sold only thru Cambridge Soundworks stores Henry Kloss designed the Cambridge Soundworks Model 6, a two way system designed to satisfy serious listeners. This model was recently rated ' Best buy' by a leading consumer publication. Since i am building a home theater system ans was looking for good front speakers i decided to give the model 6 a try. Cambridge 45 days refund policy reassured me that i could return them with no question ask for a full refund if i was not please. I hooked them up to a compact Sanyo mini stereo. I inserted my favorite CD and started the music. I was very impressed with the quality of sound. This a well balanced very musical speaker. I tried some jazz, classic and heavy metal rock and the model 6 performed very well everytme. You could clearly differienciate the instruments and it kick enough punch to feel the vibration of the floor even with both speakers setup on my computer table. Nest i ttested tghe speakers with some movies and again they were very accurate in rendering effects like explosions and music with enough punch and presence that you feel the action. This is proof that more expensive does not mean more quality. currently sold at $149.99 with a 45 days money back and a 10 years warranty those speakers are worth serious consideration if you are planning the purchase of a hi-fi system or a home theater. |

Strength:
great speaker... better price
Weakness:
kinda odd shape makes choosing a stand difficult i first got these speakers as a filler until i could afford better... well they have been quite an amazing speaker. my friend bought some kenwood tower speakers for about 3 times as much as i spent for these and the model six's win hands down. i always liked these speakers, and then i bought a sub... (basscube 12s) this allowed me to cross these over slighlty higher and ohhhhh. it is phenominal. overall improved clairity... just amazing if u are thinking of dropping a load of cash on tower speakers first consider these with a sub. i gaurentee these will be twice as good. |

Strength:
All there sound, not the tinny sound so many reasonably priced speakers today have. Great bass.
Weakness:
Not the most attractive puppies in the litter- unless you are in to "retro". This is an update of a review i wrote when I first got these speakers. We are now moving and packing and i removed these from the built-in cabinet I had them in. I have been plenty satisfied with them, but after much movie watching, I decided to put them on stands and have them play while we were packing up. Now, I am so impressed with them for music, I am trying to figure out how to use them in the new house for that purpose. They are very much broken in after a year and a half that when put on 20" stands, they blow me away. They image well, have a sweet, not harsh treble and more than enough bass. Overall they really do give my regular music speakers (Magnepans) a run for the money. Finding stands to fit won't be easy as they are built wide but not deep- much like the speakers of the 70's and 80's they are supposed to replace. Cambridge would do well to keep these in their line and redesign the cabinets- which I may do myself if given the time. Similar Products Used: Polk, NHT, Boston, even old KLH and Advents. |

Strength:
A wonderfully self-contained speaker capable of handling any type of music played through them - even at higher volumes. I''ve heard $500-600 speakers that don''t even come close to matching what these Model Six speakers provide.
Weakness:
Cambridge could have offered a more authentic real-wood cabinet - but hardly important enough to actually disuade anyone from considering the Model Six when they sound so damn great. I ordered these Model Six speakers after reading a write-up in Stereo Review about them back in 1993! At the time I was about to replace an ancient but classic set of old Acoustic Research speakers that may have dated back to perhaps 1963 as the speaker cone''s were decomposing. Being more than familiar with Henry Kloss status in the audio world ( a man who who was responsible for some of the most acclaimed and popular speaker designs of the last 50 years), the Model Six speakers were placed high on my list for speaker consideration in ''93, but I did go out and listen to a host of other''s made by JBL, Advent, AR, and Bose. While none actually had what I needed and wanted to hear overall in book shelve models, I chanced ordering a pair of Model Six speakers with the Oak finish. Once I hooked them up to my Harman-Kardon 590i receiver, I was immediately impressed at how the overall sound was full, deatiled, and precise; they did exactly what any great speaker should do and more - that being to reproduce sounds as accurately as possible! Since my Model Six speakers have the originally offered lighter fabric grills, they have a more "classic" look than the one''s offered by Cambridge today, which is a darker. I understand that you can purchase these speakers on e-bay these days directly from Cambridge. Either way, you simply can''t find all that much to complain about from such a highly engineered audio speaker than these Henry Kloss marvels. |

Strength:
Price, high power handling capability. Solid, heavy feel.
Weakness:
None at price I purchased these speakers because of an embarassing situation that happened when I invited some friends over to watch my new "Jurassic Park" laser disc (tells you how long ago that was). I use seperate power amps for my system and the main L/R amp pushes about 400w at 8 ohms. During a particularly bass heavy segment of the movie, the small Advent bookshelfs I was using simply bottomed out and blew both protection fuses in my amp. The sub I was using at the time did all it could but the Advents were simply not up to the low end sonic challenges presented by that movie. So I determined to buy a new set of speakers, but the ones that would effectively handle the power of my amp were out of my price range. After looking at a number of models I decided to try the Model 6's. The price was right and when I asked the salesperson at CSW how much power they would handle, he said that when coupled with a sub and pushed by clean power they would handle whatever you threw at them. Of course, I did not believe him but he told me to get them and try them out and "blow them out of the cabinet" and if I did not like them I had 30 days to send them back - in pieces if necessary. Well that has been over two years ago and these baby's have performed far beyond my expectations. I have upgraded every other speaker in my home theater system except these. They are wonderful and do the job. I have pushed ridiculous amounts of power into them at volumes I can only get away with when my wife is not at home(no sane individual watches movies or listens to music at those levels) and they have soaked it up and played loudly. They are alright alone, but with a good sub and the complement of a full home theater setup they sound wonderful. No more embarassing moments. |
