Strength:
Inexpensive, from Cambridge soundworks, sound decent
Weakness:
there are some better speakers in the price range They are very good, they served well as just a pair of bookshelf speakers at an average volume. at 200$ a pair they are well worth it if you are trying to provide sound to a small room. The problems i noted were that they have "thumpy" bass at higher volumes, but dont let this deter you. Similar Products Used: dcm/Cambridge Sound Words/Bose` |

Strength:
Clear well-balanced sound
Weakness:
bass extension Overall, the Cambridege Model Six bookself speaker is an excellent value. Unlike most speakers in this category, it has a 8" acoustic suspension woofer that keeps the bass accurate and tight. Of course, the bass extension is not nearly as good as a full-size tower, but for a bookshelf speaker it is very good (bass extension ~45 Hz). If you are shopping for a bookself speaker in the 200 to 500 price range, I highly recommend listening to this speaker. Similar Products Used: none |

I would agree that these speakers sound harsh right out of the box. But first impressions can be deceiving. After several days of break-in, these speakers shined. Bass was deep and surprisingly powerful. Highs softened and became smoother, with the midrange becoming more prominent. The price/performance ratio is better than most bookshelves I've heard, including my Paradigm Titans, which have a boomier bass output and harsher highs. |

I've got the Model Six's in front the Model 17's in back and a CSW subwoofer II all hooked up with the best monster cable you can get. The cable makes quite a difference, get the best if you can, CSW doesn't carry it. I don't have a center channel yet and I don't really need one, that 's how good the sound is. Also using a Denon avr2400 receiver. My setup sounds better than the tower II's, I gone from store to store and I would have to spend $800+ to do better. I am not getting rid of these in the forseeable future. For the money I give it 5 stars. |

Strength:
accuracy
Weakness:
missing some of the lower range These speakers intrigued me for some time before I purchased them. What prompted me was the fact my Genesis II speakers(accoustic suspension speakers, cir. 1979) surrounds began to disintegrate due to time and oxidation(I found this is common for these speakers, and found a company that supplies replacement surrounds...). I bought the speakers and replaced the Genensis speakers that were in my living room. At first the speakers seemed to be fatiguing to listen to over any length of listening time, and lacked the low-end the bigger Genesis have. I was a little disappointed, and fixed the old Genesis speakers. Similar Products Used: Definitive Technology BP10, Genesis II Loudspeakers |

Strength:
Smooth highs, good bass, warm sound
Weakness:
can give a little "chesty" sound to female vocals in the lower octaves I had to have a pair of acoustic suspension speakers to mount inside my built-in audio cabinet since rear ported speakers sound boomy in the cabinet with the doors shut. I tried these and NHTs. These had a more warm natural sound with slightly rolled off highs...I like that for music. With movies, the 8" woofer allows for plenty of crash bang. My only complaint is that with one or two female singers who sing in the lower octaves for a female, they can sound a little like they are singing from their chest. However, it is not annoying. Overall, these will play as loud as anyone would want and sound GREAT for the $$. Similar Products Used: A ton of speakers |

These speakers are fantastic for $130...I am extremely happy with them, and they actually, have replaced a pair of speakers that cost me twice as much...I'm running them on my Kenwood 2080 reciever, and thus far, these speakers are stunning for $130...As for combridge soundwork's advertising practice's, I will leave them alone...they do not make their own reviews...the two people below, are the same guy, but are not from cambridge, and are probably just avid cambridge enthusiasts...over all, I give these speakers 4 stars for their great sound at $130.. However, I don't like cambridge's tech support, since I usually get someone, that knows less about speakers than I do...however, they do have some knowledgable people working there....A great product for the money..Good job Henry Kloss. |

If you can imagine, I bought these speakers as replacements, because of space limitations, for Klipsch Heresy IIs that I owned for 5 years. I was not disappointed. The Model Six was actually much easier to listen to for long periods of time compared to my old Heresys. I would attribute this to the dome tweeter in the Model Six vs. the horn tweeter in the Heresy. The Model Six has a "realistic" soundstage with an accurate frequency response. For the price, there are no bookshelf speakers that are better. The only compromise that I experienced was the lower efficiency of the Model Six relative to the Klipsch Heresy II, 90 dB vs. 96 dB respectively. |

I have to say that I was quite disappointed with these speakers; even inexpensive speakers should be able to avoid the sort of listener fatigue that the Model Sixes quickly induce in the middle and upper frequency range. The fatigue I'm talking about is most noticeable when listening to something with female vocals or prominent violins. I returned them pronto! |
