Strength:

Solid, taut bass, crisp midrange, nice highs, price

Weakness:

looks terrible with grille attached,

What more can be said about these babies? All the reviews about these speakers were dead right! It was a toss up between these and the heybrook HB1`s(both with excellent sonic abilities) and it was a tough call but the Gold/silver drive units sold it. Once the break in time is over these babies realy shine. Nice sweeping lows, crisp midrange, excellent highs. These have got to be the best sub £200 speakers in their class. They are good in Biwire and almost as good in single wire mode. But it does`nt stop there. I use these as front speakers in a HT setup,Mission centre and rears and the sound detail is amazing with great clarity and panning!Do not hesitate to get these, well recomended or as what hifi says " a great buy"

Strength:

Nice and tight bass, good imaging, produces great details....last of all, it looks damn good

Weakness:

male vocals lacks a bit of body...that's all I can say...

These speakers can produced unbelievable level of details, great bass and does very good stereo imaging ....I can easily pin-point the exactly location of the vocals and instuments, imaging is damn solid!!!!

And yes, you really have to bi-wiring this babies to extract out the best performance from them...not doubt, at this price range, I can't think of a better pair of speakers

Strength:

Very good imaging, soundstage, looks, price,

Weakness:

seem to be boxy or smallish right out of the box.

I have just purchased these today and have listened to t.v., a Dolby Digital movie, and now am going through multiple types of CDs. Straight out of the box I have to say that they are kinda smallish sounding when listening to everything flat. But if you turn the volume up just a tad they seem to come alive. The imaging and sound stage are VERY GOOD. The manufacturer advises that you break them in for about 60 hours. I am absolutely sure that they will only improve. I am using them as mains with the Bronze Center. No surrounds as of yet but from what I have heard I am thinking Bronze 1s or another set of Bronze 2s. Thought about the Silver surrounds but not sure if I would pay out the bucks for them. I would like the di-pole/bi-pole surrounds but just not sure.
One BIG advantage these have over any other units I have auditioned is that they are bi-wirable. I have not tried this as of yet. I am running these through a 2000 model Yamaha RV596 DD/DTS receiver and may bi-wire them through the B channels to see what I get from them.
I would recommend these to anyone on a tight buget for music and home theater. They seem to work GREAT either way. I thought the Paradigms had a little warmer sound, but they were WELL broke in and setting on top quality stands. I have these on top of my 4.5 foot tall Kenwood speakers (not good I know).
I give them a 5 for value because they are exactally that, a Superb value. A lot of music for a very low price.
I give them a 5 for overall rating because they do exactally what they are intended to do. Can't fault them for not having much bass since a true bookshelf is not intended to that. You will have to, however, get a good sub for some decent bass, since these really only hit the highs and mids. Hope this helps some of you out there.

Strength:

Small, attractive, FRONT bass ports (do not need to place in a corner).

Weakness:

Not highly efficient for low power systems. They are average.

I needed surround speakers for my Infinity SM150 3-way 15" monsters. These matched the timbre the best. They almost have as much bass, but I have to amp them up 11dB higher than the 101 dB@1watt Infinities to get the same volume (not a problem for my amp).

Bells sound better than the Infinities. Sax sounds better ON the Infinities. In both cases the treble is bright, but the Monitors have a flatter overall response.

I tested Klipsch, Athena, Energy, and Paridyme. Only Paradyme came close to matching the Infinities--but not as close nor as pleasing as the Monitors.

The Monitors have a good "in you face" presence. I use the center channel speaker also.

You will need Studio Tech stands, $110, to hold them. Fill the center pipe with sand for weight. Use black cable ties to secure the speaker wires.

Strength:

Precise crisp treble, imaging, magnetic shielding.

Weakness:

At the price, absolutely none.

One of the best purchases I have made in some time. I needed a second, versatile, non-critical speaker. The Monitor, had all the ingredients, and I auditioned rival products briefly, having heard a friend's Bronze 2s; the B2s were obviously ahead, especially given their very modest price. I am continually surprised at their performance.

If in the market for this type of item, given them a try and don't hesitate.

Strength:

Good stereo imaging, pithy bass without booming.

Weakness:

Whizzy highs and little bit muddy mids.

I am try to use Monitor Audio Bronze2 speakers with Denon AVP-A1 preamp/Denon POA-T3 poweramp as a front speakers in small room (12 m2)and unfortunately not satisfied with results. Stereo imaging is good, but mids sound too soft and muddy. Also, in my opinion, highs are too much with "ssssss". Bi-wiring aren't resolve this problem also. So I returned speakers back to dealer.

Strength:

Great imaging, spacious and airy sound. Uncannily neutral through the midrange. Binding posts, bi-wirable/bi-ampable, nice finish.

Weakness:

At the price, none whatsoever.

This speaker shares it's many virtues with the larger Bronze 3, and I've already reviewed them for this site I won't repeat those comments overmuch. Please see that review for the specifics.

I bought these speakers to complement a bedroom system, but they are almost overkill for that. I'd put these speakers up in rare air, almost unique in their price/size range.

Firstly, the whole Bronze series is very well made. No, at this price you don't get real wood veneer, but how many manufacturers give you real wood at any price point? You can't hear the finish, anyway, and the vinyl looks good enough for me. Instead, the money was put into front baffles 1.5" thick, nice gold five-way binding posts (an absolute necessity, IMHO) and bi-wire capability.

The overall character of these speakers matches that of the Bronze 3, with a little less dynamic capability and less bass. Otherwise they are virtual ringers.

If you don't have much space but still love good sound, you have to find a pair of these speakers. If you yearn for true "high end sound" (whatever that untimately means!), but lack the kili-bucks that are the emblem of membership, check out the Bronze line. And if you're just reading this out of curiousity, do yourself a favor and check out the rest of Monitor Audio's line. They are hi-fi's best kept secret, Britain's "B&W killers." If you love music, don't spend a dime without checking them out.

Strength:

overall sound

Weakness:

none at this price - still sound a little "veiled" compared to speakers at + 4x the price

You should give these a try if you like the British sound (as I do). That is why I liked them vs. PSB etc.

I was about to buy a pair of B&W's 602's and could not justify the price after hearing these. I still am amazed at the quality of these speakers for the price. I use them in a 2 channel system mainly for audio, and the occasional movie. I will be listening to these until I feel ready to plunk down 2 - 4K for an "audiophile" quality pair. To be sure, Monitor Audio will be on the short list.

my set up: Bryston B-60, Nad CD, Kimber Cables.

sorry, nothing in this range gets 5 stars

PS>> I don't find the grills ugly!

Strength:

This is everything the bumf says it is

Weakness:

None that I could find

I have not yet purchased this model but I have listened to it for an extensive period and was very impressed.
I went to the bank machine to get cash and when I returned only the demo model was left and I didn't take it so it seems that I was not the only one impressed.
Buy it with confidence....
