price,construction,midrange

Weakness:

limited bass, "sharp" highs, somewhat boxy sound

What the MM's bring to the table: clean but limited bass,
warmer than average midrange unusual at this price, and
quality Canadian construction. The cons: somewhat bright
titanium tweeter, at times "boxy" sound, overwhelmed by
complicated material, obviously need a sub. However, these
were never intended to be critical listening marvels and
for the price do a reasonalbly decent job under most
applications. At this range I would also auditon the Kef
cresta line, which in my humble opinion offer smoother
highs (silk) and a warmer midrange. Good Luck! Remember
the keys :acoustics, placement, and source material.

Strength:

Excellent overall sound, strong deep bass

Weakness:

None

In the process of upgrading my decrepit home theater/stereo system, I decided to start with the speakers, putting my workhorse Infinity RS-225s out to pasture as rear-channel status.

(I was considering the Bose 301s because a friend has a pair and the price point was within my range, but I'm glad I checked this website first. I'm definitely off the Bose bandwagon in a big way.)

In a local dealer showroom, I was very impressed by the Boston Acoustic VR M50s and M60s. They had incredible sound (to my non-audiophile ears) but were a bit pricey, starting at $700 for a pair. Then I listened to the Paradigm Mini-Monitors and was pleasantly surprised. For less than half the price of the M50s, these babies were putting out powerful, rich sound that was virtually identical to the M50. Maybe the M50 can pump harder on the bass, but for the money, these are the best-sounding speakers I've ever heard.

I have a large room to fill, but the Paradigm Mini's can handle it. In fact, they really underscore the age of my other home theater/stereo components. My 5 year-old Sony receiver with Dolby Pro-Logic is the next item to replace on my list, because it simply doesn't do these Paradigms justice.

NICE BASS

VOCALS?

JUST A QUICK QUESTION FOR ANYONE READING THIS. DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL THAT THE VOCALS IN SONGS SEEM WEAK COMING THROUGH THESE SPEAKERS? IT JUST SEEMS THAT I DON'T FEEL SONGS LIKE I'M SUPPOSED TO FEEL THEM. I'VE ALSO GOT SOME POLK AUDIO SPEAKERS WHICH MUSICALLY, AREN'T AS GOOD. BUT I BELIEVE THE VOCALS COME OUT STRONGER ON THE POLKS. I GOT MY MINIS FOR $320 BUT THEY DON'T SOUND $220 BETTER THAN THE $100 POLKS.

I bought these for a second (computer) room, running off a cheapo Kenwood stereo receiver and generic CD player. I'm running Infinity Overture 1's on my main system, hooked to a Denon receiver and CD player. I had heard of Paradigm from my father, who bought Monitor 7s for my parents' home theater, and thought they sounded very good, so I went looking for these when it came time to add speakers to my computer room. I auditioned these along with Paradigm Atoms (which I almost bought - see my review under that speaker), Titans, and some Phase Technology speakers. All of the Paradigms blew away the Phase Tech speakers - no contest. The MM and the Atom were running neck and neck until I decided to play some soft folk music with a female singer (Beth Orton), and noticed that while the Atom sounded a bit electronicky, the MM was full and rich. That confirmed the deal, and I bought them. While they don't sound as good as my $1K Overture 1's, they are top notch for their price.

Strength:

This speaker is sooo good!!!

Weakness:

None considering size/price!

Just a follow-up to my last review-
These speakers are great, I recently purchased a used pair of Psb mini-stratus speakers @ a second-hand store and they are nice(got a good price to $130.00 w/tax!) they didn't know what they had- anyway comparing my new paradigm mini-monitors to the used psb mini-stratus's I'd have to say that they both have great bass for their size and image very well, also but are very accurate- there's only one question the psb mini-stratus's retail for around $1,000 and the paradigm mini-monitors for $339.00. I've seen the psb's for around $700.00(on the internet) and I got my mini-monitor's for $285.00 + tax after dickering! With the big price difference and listening to both of them I'd say not much of a difference @ all unless you like spending $$ for nothing! A good friend of mine even offered to buy the psb mini-stratus from me for $350.00 because he loves the high-gloss black laquer finish(it is really nice) and I'm thinking of selling them to him and buying another pair of paradigm mini-monitor's for rear surrounds as they'll match up better for timbre(tweeter)! As Corey Greenberg of Audio Magazine wrote "I've heard highly regarded $2,000 2-way 6-inchers that could not keep up with the [$339.00] paradigm mini-monitor" Now that says it all!
Buy these you won't be dissapointed!

Strength:

Excellent sound from such a small speaker!

Weakness:

for the size none!

After reading all the great reviews on this site I decided to listen to them myself (I had bose 301's @ the time.) WOW! I was impressed by the sound- They are small but have some weight to them about 16 pounds a piece and are a little beefy looking but really nice! I had the bose 301's for 2 years but the little mini-monitors blew them away for accuracy, clarity, imaging and tight deep bass- I was surprised. So I ordered a pair in dark cherry and can't wait to hook them up! I paid $285.00 for them saved $54.00! I'm putting them on my Bose AS-3 stands about 2.75 feet high. Buy these speakers if you don't want to spend a ton of money but want great sound and please don't let the size fool you. Crank them up to jazz, classical or rock and you'll be glad you bought them! Excellent speaker for performance/value!

Strength:

sounds really good

Weakness:

do not sound bad

These speakers really sound great. Especially compared to
my old Fishers and the "good old" home made jobs made from an old RCA TV cabinet.
They image great, just like Carnegie Hall.
