Strength:

Excellent accoustic range, titanium tweeter provides good highs and for a small speaker the bass is excellent.

Weakness:

NONE!

I have the Mini monitors setup with my home theater system. They are complemented by a CC-70 center channel, Atom rears and a PDR-10 Sub. As an all-around speaker (music, movies, TV), these speakers provide the best bang for the buck. I listened to lots of different speakers (too many to list) before I bought these. Like all speakers, I believe the proof is in the ears of the listener, but if you are looking for an unparalleled set of bookshelf speakers, go listen to these and bring your wallet because you will want a pair. They are hard to find. Not too many dealers. I got my system (speakers and receiver) from a small shop. Brought in my own CD's, watch a DVD, did a little wheeling and dealing and I picked my stuff up the following week.

After deciding to upgrade to a home theater system, I ran across the Mini Monitors while auditioning the NHT Super Ones. I had also listened to comparably priced Polks, Boston Acoustics, Klipsche, Definitive Technology, and Mission speakers. I needed to replace my old Polk Monitor 10's with a more compact speaker, but I wanted a speaker that would sound good with stereo music and also work well with home theater. Although some sales people stated that I could mix and match between various brands to configure a speaker setup, I wanted to keep the price below $2000 (fronts, rears, center, sub) and also have the speakers sonically matched. I settled on an all Paradigm speaker system (Mini Monitors, CC-350, ADP-170's and PS-1000 sub) for around $1600. I am impressed with the sound clarity of the Paradigm speakers. After doing some additional research, I believe that the Paradigms definitely provide the the most bang for the buck. They also appear to be well built and in my opinion are more attractive looking than many other speakers in their price class. Although I am still tweeking the subwoofer adjustments, I am very impressed with the overall sound of these speakers. I am sure the sound quality will only continue to improve as the speakers become fully broke-in. After all, how can so many satisfied Paradigm customers be wrong?

I was in the market for a new pair of speakers roughly a year ago to replace my aging Polk 5JR pair which were getting a little long in the tooth. I had listened to newer models from Polk, Infinity, B&W, Klipsch, Mirage, JBL, and Definitive Technology and had pared my decision down to 2 models.
As faith had it, I just happened to run accross a little flea bitten audio store in Bradenton, Florida, who carried only Paradigm speakers. The dealer had 30 years experience in the audio industry and was kind enough to teach me, one who thought he knew everything about audio equipment, how to "listen" to a speaker. The sound that eminated from the Mini Monitors was remarkable. To put it bluntly, these speakers image like bastards. When you close your eyes, you could swear the vocalist was in the room standing right in front of you. And they cast their same magic on Dolby Digital soundtracks as well.

Believe Corey Greenburg when he says that no other 6 1/2 incher two way costing up to $2,000 can keep up with the $300 Min Monitor! If you don't believe the reviews, go believe your ears.

Highs, soundstage, quality, and size!

These are the absolute best speakers my home has ever seen. They reproduce music as it should be, REAL! I am so happy I went with this Canadian speaker. I truly hear things I have never heard in my music before. They reproduce highs, mids, and bass yes bass so accurately. They quality put in to these speakers is outstanding. After break in I found myself listening to CD's I have not listened to in years just to hear what I have been missing. I auditioned many speakers before purchasing these and they shine in so many areas. The put the Def Techs in the dirt! They had me thinking my sub was on even on bass heavy music. The speaker is PERFECT! Go buy them and you will be as happy as me.
P.S. they sound best when you feed your amp with fiber.

Strength:

Clarity, price

Weakness:

Must be free standing, should not be mounted to wall ( mini monitors)

I first went out and purchased a polk audio system, I was not pleased. I sounded like sombody
pulled a sheet over them. They just seemed to be lacking something. So I went to the "professionals" at a high end audio store, and they suggested (and let be borrow) a set of Paradigm speakers (CC350, mini monitors, and bi-polar surrounds. I hooked both up and
was suprised by the results. The Paradigm (for the same price) far out performed my set of
Polks. I then returned my set of Polks to my "superstore".

Strength:

Neutral, quality build

Weakness:

Hard to find

I am currently using the Paradigm Pick.
*Monitor 7s - $600 (bi-wired)
*Mini Monitors - $330 (rears)
*CC350 Center - $330
*S1000 Sub - $600

The Mini Monitors make excellent rears, you're only cheating yourself if you don't buy quality speakers for the rears.

Matched with Harmon Kardon's AVR20II Dolby Prologic - $500
This is an awesome combo that provides dynamic clarity with precise thump for under $2,500. I bought this combo back in 1998, so I'm sure it could be duplicated for much less today.

Keep in mind, if you're the type of person who likes to critique classical music, don't expect miracles from under $3000 in equipment

Strength:

Versitality, frequency response, imaging, etc...

Weakness:

The enclosures are rather large for a simple two-way shelf speaker.

I had heard about these speakers for years, so I broke down and snagged a pair on ebay. First off, Paradigm is the most popular brand of speaker sold on ebay--they get so much attention that you can't really get a great deal--particularly on the mini's--which are the most popular ebay Paradigm item.

Anyhow--they came in perfect shape and broken in. They certainly aren't fancy--you definately aren't paying for a sweet looking enclosure, you're paying for the stuff inside.

They didn't blow me away as I'd hoped, but they still may be the best pair of speakers I've owned. The main thing I noticed is they are strong in every area--no glaring weaknesses. Just do the job they were designed to do--reproduce music (and cinema) with quality and accuracy. Many of the other speakers I've owned sounded incredible for some types of music (jazz or blues for instance), but just couldn't make the grade on others (heavy metal guitar, or a full symphony).

If you don't own a subwoofer, and still only have room for bookshelf speakers, and still demand quality hi-fi, the mini's are an absolute must. They dig down and perform admirably on bass passages, and provide plenty of punch compared with any other bookshelf models I've ever owned.
I ended up adding a nice sub, and then just couldn't tell a huge difference between the mini's and some B&W's and other speakers I had (which were cheaper) so I ended up selling them off. Still, they earn my highest award for performance.

I crave the highest quality hi-fi equipment you can buy for next to no money at all--so my value rating represents that. Many people will tell you for $350 these are an incredible buy--but $350 is more than I want to spend--I'd rather get an 8.5 rating speaker for $100 than a 10.0 for $350, so take that into account when reading my review. Fact is I can tell the difference between low end stuff and decent middle-of-the-road equipment, but my ears just can't descern the difference between a $250 pair of B&W's and these $350 pair of Paradigms (when they were both paired with a sub***). That extra $100 nearly paid for my sub (which I got a real steal on!!!).

I trade hi-fi equipment constantly and will never hesitate to jump on another pair of mini's or any other Paradigm equipment that comes my way for the right price.

Strength:

Excellent clarity, punchy bass, crisp mids, clear highs...

Weakness:

none at this time

I recently bought these to replace my Paradigm Atoms off a friend. He bought these speakers the SAME day I bought my Atoms, and used em for about a month as fronts, then moved em to the rears and used Monitor 7's up front. The speakers were never really played that much, so I see it as they are new... I now have my Atoms in the rear, and these Mini's really make my system sound good (plus I like to look around my room and see 5 Paradigm logos!). I listen to SO many types of music, and watch tons of dvds, and these speakers sound great on all of them! A great buy and a killer speaker!

Strength:

Great bang for the buck.

Weakness:

Bass

I purchased a pair of floorstanding Bose speakers thinking that they would be semi-decent, but had to return them in a week because they were so awful.
The minis COMPLETELY blow the Bose out of the water. The clarity, richness, depth, soundstage, and imaging are an order of magnitude better. With the Bose, I would rotate them, adjust the spacing between the speakers, and even try to sit a different places in the room to get better imaging, better sound quality. However, the Bose were beyond hope.
The minis, though sound amazing. You hear so much more in them, and the imaging is great.
The bottom line: If you don't want to shell out big bucks, the minis have an optimum price/performance ratio.
