Strength:

Weakness:

No clear sound, paper speakers.

I bought this because of its cute look. It fit nicely on my tv. But when I hooked up this to my system, It never performed good. And then I had a look at reviews for this speaker, here on audioreview.com, I immediatly went back and returned the speaker. I bought jbl N-Center Channel, And this sounded great , without any problem. In fact I got the jbl N-Center also for $150.
After my experience with Bose center Channel, I would not recommend this product at all.

Love The product. I see alot of people complaining, and i can understand that, but they paid way to much for it, for one thing. I got the center channel and 2 bose 1000's (i think) for surround for only like $150. They work and sound great. I am using a completely Bose system. But i also am using a Very HIGH end receiver. Maybe some peoples receivers suck and thats the real reason. I dont know, but i can say that this speaker sounds great, on all movies ive watched.. Includings the Matrix, T2, .. anything!!

Disappointed. The addition of this center channel speaker to the existing Bose Acoustimass system is nearly transparent. The speaker blends nicely sitting on top of the big screen TV but its contribution to the "theater" experience likewise is nearly undetectable.

You can tell this a weinie speaker from whoever started this review. Its called a center channel NOT CENTRAL CHANNEL.These little paper cones are pathetic compared to say dual 7inch kevlar drivers with a 1.25 dome and 4inch ribbon. Is there a Best Buy,Sears,Circuit City Forum this wanabee center speaker can be spoken about. That way they can get a good rating when their main competition is KLH and Cerwin Vegas.

This hunk of junk isn't even on my consideration list. After extensive listening, it is one of the worsty, grainiest, nasal noismakers you can use in HT. I hate the price, I hate the sound. You be hard pressed to find anything worse for the ripoff price. Paper cones must cost alot these days...

I checked this speaker out in Best Buy last weekend...and was lost for words. Now that I have gathered myself the following words come to mind: FLIMSY, CHEAP SOUNDING, & WORTHLESS. I cannot believe they wanted $179.00 for this piece of trash. I would pay no more than $30 for this speaker!

HOW IT MATCHES WITH ACOUSTIMASS SPEAKERSI've been listening to this center channel for about a week. I bought it to match my Bose Acousticmess-5 front speakers, which I've been listening to for 5 years. I thought it would be a good match since they use the same 2 1/2 inch drivers, albeit the VCS-10 has an additional 2 drivers "compound-loaded" behind the first pair to extend bass response. They don't really match with the treble flat, but do reasonably well with the AM-5 treble turned down about -6 db. The AM-5s sound horrible anyway with the treble set above this in my relatively bright listening room. (For the full gruesome details of the sea-sick inducing response curve of the AM-5s, check some of the more knowledgable reviews elsewhere at this site).

This center definitely has more mid-bass thump than the acoustimass cubes which have none (dont try "fix" it w/ an EQ either- it simply doesn't exist!). It blends much better with the bass unit than the cubes, and as such, produces a fairly satisfying home theater experience. Its warm sound will be too dull at the high end for many, especially in properly damped environs, but I for one hate spitty dialogue and sizzling treble when watching video.

Regarding "Bose-Bashers": Although many are frothing at the mouth when it comes to expressing how deeply they feel about this company, there wouldn't be so many of them if what they were saying wasn't fundamentally true. For any given amount of money, you can buy a better speaker than Bose.

Am moving to my new apartment next month when construction is done. My new home theater will have a matched set of already purchased Paradigm speakers (with a large full-range center channel), Boston Acoustic in-walls will do music duty in other rooms. I will suck up my guilt and sell the Bose to a less-knowledgeable stranger; they will not be welcomed into my new home!

A 50 dollar Jensen center channel sounds about as good as this "speaker." I was about to buy this "speaker" because it looked real smooth, but I wasn't going to spend two-hundred dollars when I could get a polk-audio center channel for the same price. I'm going to assume they tried to get the sound to match the sound from those acoustimass speakers, and it looks like they did a pretty good job.

When I purchased the Bose VCS-10 it was the final piece of a 5 speaker bose system (Bose701's, 301's, VCS-10, and Yamaha YST-SW150 for sub). I believed that this speaker setup would have a cohesive soundstage with matching timber and smooth bass. I've waited for the VCS-10 for some time now. Well, once I put in my Bad Boy's DVD and got going I knew I was in deep trouble. PROS-
1. Speaker size! It was so conveniant. Any Audiophile knows that some of us do not like EXTREMELY LARGE center channel speakers on top of our tv's no matter what Mathew Polk says (try placing the gigantic POLK CS-400 on top of your 35 inch tv to see what I mean).
2. The appearance of the little box sure is beautiful! My wife loved it.
3. Incredible as it may seem but this speaker matched in timber with the Bose 701. This applied to Both music and DVD viewing.
4. Spatial characterstics of the drivers were good as the drivers although very small could be heard from the side far away from where you were sitting
CONS-
1. Small size means small sound. This my friends is the laws of physics.
2. Dont even try to turn up the center channel bass for the vcs-10 unless you want a good laugh.
3. With such a small cabinet midrange suffered as the vcs-10 small drivers could not go low enough in the midbass to accurately reproduce the midrange.
4. My biggest complaint was that I could hardly hear it! With all the speakers set at zero it had to be the VCS-10 that I had to turn up to level 5. After you turn it up the sounstage of all 5 speakers was'nt cohesive anymore and the sound from the vcs-10 beamed out. That did it and it was the last straw! I completely replaced all speakers and my dad now has a Bose theater system. Hey, he grew up with Bose. I upgraded from the Bose VCS-10 to the Infinity CC-3 center channel speaker. WOW! See my reviews on that!
BOSE BASHERS-
1. Stop being so hateful, Bose defenders dont want to hear anything from you if you have never even heard the product. You can keep your 1 stars
2. This is the U.S. and we fought for freedom of choice! I am absolutely in love with my present Infinity system but so what! Dont ruin someones day with your ignorant attacks (which are actually funny)?
BOSE LOVERS-
1.Stop being so damn defensive! These people would not be telling you to try other speakers before you buy for no reason. It makes sense!
2.Get out of that big store and go to a dealer from other speaker companies and tell the to impress you (with your cd)
