Sound Match with older RS series Infinity speakers Build quality Infinity product support
Weakness:
Size can be an issue when trying to fit it into an entertainment center or stand. I was looking to make the transition from traditional stereo listening to a more current 7.1 HT set-up. Not willing to part with my RS 5001 towers, I was very concerned with this center channel's timbre matching. My research included e-mails to and from Infinity (Harman Audio) who knew exactly what I was talking about. The Interlude series was a perfect match b/c the CMMD drivers go well with my Emit ribbon tweeters. This center is substantial in both size and sound. Much better than the smaller IL-25c or Alpha. Similar Products Used: Infinity RS 5001 tower speakers Polk RC 85i in-walls (they don't match for music, but for HT its fine) Infinity IL-120 sub Denon 1082 (clone to the 3802) |

Strength:
CMMD tech seems to be very durable and long lasting but has a significant break in period. Any suggestions are welcomed!
Weakness:
Seems hollow, midrange seems to overpower the hi's at times in turn making dialouge hard to understand. Ive owned the 36 for about 8 months now and for the most part, I've been very pleased, although, lately, it seems as though on some movies (and I cant tell if its just me)it sounds as though it's a bit bassy if you will. For example, when there is dialouge,I cant here the s's and the voices sound so midrangey and hollow if that makes since. It's hard to describe what Im trying to say I know, but if anyone is experiencing this problem, please email me with any advice you may have. Other than that, Im very happy with all my Interlude series speakers.IL40's-fronts,36-center,IL10's-rears,and Klipsch RS3.II-sides Denon-3802 7.1 set up with IL-120 sub. |

Weakness:
NOT for music only--a minor quibble well--after living with it for 3 months--heres my opinion--superb on movies but definitly NOT for music alone--when you switch the 36 in on music the music is hollow sounding--try it--youll see--but i bet this happens on all centers--its a center for movies--not music--and its superb on movies--does what its supposed to do--a center channel for movies-switch to stereo when listening to music |

Strength:
very high vocal point , timbre matching with IL''s C.M.M.D all around. maple finish
Weakness:
big , fat , large, heavy , reminds me of my first car. takes up entire space on Tv cabinet. but i dont care, awesome speaker This is what center channels are supposed to look and hear like. Not only does this speaker match visually to every other interlude speaker i have , it now is the vocal point in every presentaion i show. I have been saving up for a new center channel and when i saw this posted on ubid i couldnt pass it up. now i can take the $300 i saved and get a touchscreen remote. definetly the best center in the business for the money Similar Products Used: lame JBL''s and small bose center. nothing in this price range can compete with this speaker |

Strength:
matching finish - full sound for a center channel
Weakness:
alittle large - but that is o.k. matches perfectly with older infinity speakers - such as the rf models. i just upgraded to the il40 and what a combo!! these speakers are great - low end for a center channel - in regular pro-logic i do not feel like i am missing that real low end. a great speaker match for infinitys older and new interlude line. great price at $350.00 at www.sounddistributors.com Similar Products Used: polk audio - jbl |

Very clear. Surprisingly good bass and midrange.
Weakness:
Heavy. Not good if you own a smaller TV (I have a 36" Sony Wega XBR, which works okay)

Strength:
excellent sound, great looks!
Weakness:
The silver colored grill stands out too much on the tv-should be available in black. First of all, let me say that this is the finest sounding center channel that I have ever heard! I had been in search of a good center channel to go with my Kappa 8's. First I tried the CC3 which I didn't like at all. Next was the Kappa Video Center which was a gorgeous looking speaker but still wasn't doing anything for me. Next I tried a Overture 1 which does make a very good center channel. I was fairly pleased with it. But then I heard about the new Interlude speakers. I was able to get a brief audition of an IL36c and decided to go ahead and purchase one. Hell, looks alone were enough to make me want it! I took it home and hooked it up to my small living room system just to try it out. Seemed pretty good. Now it was time to take it and hook it up to the main home theater system. I was a little concerned that it wouldn't be voice matched very well with my Kappa's. I hooked it up, sat down to listen and I was amazed! I have never heard such an open sound from a center channel. The speaker virtually disappeared. I've never experienced that with any previous Infinity center channels. It also had the deepest soundstage of any center channel that i've heard. It is a perfect match for my Kappa's. It will also play very loud without any sign of breakup or distortion. This is the perfect center channel for home theater and music. There may be a better sounding center channel out there somewhere, but I bet it would cost a lot more than this one! Thank you Infinity for finally completing my system.
