Strength:

Superb mid and high range clarity.I can hardly find a serious competitor in this pricing range.

Weakness:

Lacking Bass extension. But I guess most of the 5.1 or 6.1
channel listener are not expecting generous bass from this
speaker with small driver and small cabinet. And to expect
more bass from this speaker at this price range is over-
demanding. This is why the subwoofer manufacturers can
survive.

Use your ear to judge.Just play DVD of "Saving Private
Ryan" to compare before I decide. It just blown away any
centre speaker that priced around or even higher.
The hi and mid range is full of impact. After several
comparison with Infinity,Mission,AE,AR,Monitor Audio..etc.
The only one that betters off is the Boston Acoustics 920,
but its price is 2.5 times higher.
Don't expect low bass from this speaker. It had stated
it performs well from mid-bass and upwards. You should
give a second thought on this speaker if you are expecting
it to play low and loud bass.
There are certainly speakers better than this. But with
its looks, performance at this price range. What more can I
ask for?

Strength:

150W; 3-way center; all metal gold-plated 5-way binding posts; light weight (15lbs.); 91db; size; affordable.

Weakness:

none

Excellent sound quality! My music CDs never sounded better. I'm very pleased with this center.

Dual 5 1/4" Low frequency driver, 4" Midrange driver, 1" dome High frequency driver. It's important to note that it doesn't go below 80Hz.

The dimensions were important to me, since it would be placed on top of my 27" Sony TV. (7-7/8" H x 20-1/2" W x 9" D) I wanted a fairly small center channel with a big sound. The S-CENTER fits perfectly and it looks great on top of my TV. Goes well with my old Infinity SM-122 front speakers and my old Sony GA7ES AV receiver. My receiver isn't taking full advantage of this center channel's output, but it sure is good enough. My receiver allows me to boost the bass, so bass isn't that big of a problem for me.

This is my first center channel. The JBL S-CENTER is definitely a great buy!

Strength:

3-Way, beautiful model, handles 150watts, binding posts, excellent mids and highs

Weakness:

Would it kill JBL to make their flagship center channel go below 80Hz?!?

Probably JBL’s most popular home theater speaker, the S-Center is accurate and solid. With the grills removed, this speaker is gorgeous. The video shielding is great; it sits right on top of my TV, and there is no video distortion. I wish it had deeper bass, but the mids and highs are powerful. I’d recommend this center channel to serious home theater buyers.

Are You Kidding?!

If you are in the market for a center channel speaker and don't want to spend $800, this is the speaker for you. I shopped long and hard and frankly did not find anything under $800 that could touch it. I found that the S-Center compared quite well with DefTechs in the $800+ range. You can't go wrong with this center channel. I guarentee you will be amazed. I also run my system on 5-channel stereo. This guy keeps up quite well with my front speakers.
