Strength:

High-frequency, trendy :-)

Weakness:

hmm... lets see... none - maybe price but its still worth the money

An incredible sound stage -- wow! They say they will take 150W, but I have never had to turn it up that high because they are so accurate.

They go great with any amp, but make sure that the THD rating is giver over the 20Hz-20kHz range, as you will find most companies (cough, Sony) will give the rating only at 1kHz.

A great buy!

Strength:

quality parts,gold binding posts,nice looking

Weakness:

made in tiawan, but what is isn`t

see the posts for the hls center, I also a/b`ed the hls and the s-center at best buy and was very impressed with the s-center, lot`s more bass ,midrange, and highs.the hls sounded a bit hollow by comparison, the high freq. dispersion is also alot wider.I was looking for a good match for my front mains, old JBL L100`s I think this is a good match although the old JBL`s are very brite sounding, the s-center is made very well, look for sale`s seen it from 249 to 189. employee price at best buy 138.I finished off the system with the radio shack pro x88`s for the rear, also brite trying to match the L 100`s, and a audiosource sw15 for the low freq. effects.all in all it sounds good to me ,but hey i think i`m going deaf, at least my wife says i must be, being i listen to everything so LOUD . good listening ,joe

Strength:

music passages sound good, well built, dialogue sounds good, matches other JBL studio series speakers well

Weakness:

a tad bright (like every other JBL speaker), black plastic cabinet doesn't match the other studio series speakers, bigger than my current TV is, which looks pretty funny...

If you own the JBL S310 or JBLS312, i would definitely recommend this center channel. I've heard some better ones (paradigm, PSB) but they were overpriced compared to this one, and they wouldn't have matched my S310's.

It is pretty big since it has two 5.25" and a 4" mid- make sure you have room for it. I wish the cabinet was black ash like my S310s, but oh well. They look better with the grills off.

Compared to my old KLH center, musical passages sound much better and dialogue is a bit clearer. The five channel music setting on my Marantz 8000 sounds good with this speaker and my S310's and S26 surrounds.

I picked this up online- don't pay the $250 that best buy wants for this thing. Better prices are to be had online. This seems to be a popular speaker- most of the online stores had this one on back order for weeks.

Haven't found any!

I read the reviews on this center channel and thought I would give it a shot. I found it on the web for $145.00 by using Pricescan.com. At that cost how could you go wrong? Like everyone else is saying in here, this thing is CLEAR. It greatly improves all conversations in movies. Everything from sound effects to conversation is crystal clear. I am using a Yamaha 5150 receiver with Kimber 4pr cable and a Toshiba 3109 DVD player. I have coupled this s-center with JBL s 310 main speakers and am thrilled to say the least. If you like clarity I would strongly recommend the studio series line of speakers from JBL...

Strength:

Clarity. Bass for a center channel

Weakness:

Size (but what do you expect with two 5 1/4")

I'm going to have to start this out with a big WOW. The sound out of this is amazing. Super clear highs, great mids and nice lows. This speaker has got it all. JBL has proven they still have it. The price is great for what you get. I found it for 150 using pricescan. If the center channel is at all important to you (and if you watch the movies then it should be) then this is what you want. I have not been disappointed yet. The voices sound great through this from Natural Born Killers (which I had problems with before) and the lows sounded great from ID4 explosions. A definite must.
The only problem was the large size through me off a little bit, it required some adjusting to fit, but I will never regret it. (I am not going to downgrade for that)

Setup:
Sherwood 8090 Receiver
JBL HP88F fronts
JBL DPS-10 Sub
JBL Sat2 surrounds

Again WOW

Performance/Price

Weakness:

Video shield

When I put the S-Center directly on the top of my 27" tv,
there is a 1/3 inches wide discolor strip across the top of screen. My solution is that I raise the speaker by 2 inches. Why? I ordered by on-line. Return for exchange is not worth.

Be aware. Anyway it is a good center speaker.

Strength:

Great Sound, Clear Sound, works EXTREAMLY well with other Jbl Studio sereis Speakers.

Weakness:

Kind of Big.

Not much to say about a Center speaker. Clear, speech on movies is GREAT. Only complaint is that it is one of the larger centers I have seen. But size is worth the sound.

My Equipment:
Reciever: Onkyo 676
Cd-Player: Onkyo 370
Dvd-Player: Toshiba 3109

After hearing my friends N-Centre i dithed my previous JBL-SC305 due to it not picking up alot of infomation that the N-Centre did. I was lucky that i could compare the N-Centre and the model up S-Centre under the same enviroment and found that the S-Centre was more open and had slight more clarity. This speaker size is not a concern to me as i have seen bigger ones and this one fits nicely onto my 32inch W/S tv. No hint of Magnetic interference as quite documented in the forgone reviews. High marks on this beauty and suggest it is worth the extra little bit to go from the N to the S unless the difference is hundreds.

Strength:

Great clarity, great price, looks awesome

Weakness:

Bass slightly less then I expected

Great speaker for the price. Go hear it at Best Buy and then buy it off the net, save yourself some bucks. Sells for 250 plus tax. Plan on getting the S-310 floor speakers next.
