Strength:
Sound quality, great match with other jbl studio series speakers, binding posts.
Weakness:
None to the average person... I'm sure some of those crazy audiophiles can find something wrong with it, but 99% of people will think this thing sounds just as good as any $1000 center. For the price, this center is awesome... I use it with JBL s-310s and it sounds great... I'm a starving college student so it's quite the system for a pretty low price.... Anyone looking for a good low priced receiver, I also highly recommend the yamaha htr-5560. Similar Products Used: Acoustic Research AR-4C, JBL N-center |

Strength:
Sound, power, presence. Price?
Weakness:
The case? I'm being nit picky here Great price, great sound. Cannot beat JBL for the $ to performance ratio. Was thinking about getting a Klipsch center, but this was much cheaper, and sounded just as good. Similar Products Used: Infiniti, Bose |

Strength:
Great Value, good price for what i got.
Weakness:
Not a $5000 speaker This center is amazing. i've had it for 9 months now, and it is awsome. I've never owned a JBL speaker before, and this is my first. I'm very pleased with the sound that JBL produces, and if money persists, will try to upgrade my fronts to JBL S312s. |

Strength:
Midrange through the roof! Hear everything from a pin drop, to shell casings hitting the ground, to footsteps.
Weakness:
Could be a little bit brighter in the highs (like the JBL N-Center) but that may be a personal sound flavor. I had the opportunity to listen to both the S-Center and the lower model N-Center in my own home extensively. The first thing that becomes quite apparent is that there is an amazing amount of detail in midrange sound thanks to the 3-way design. I''ve been hearing things I didn''t hear before in Terminator 2. Amazingly crisp, clear, and dynamic sounding. Not muffled and doesn''t sound like you''re talking through a pillow. Highs are adequate but I love the extremely bright sound that the N-Center''s smaller tweeter has. Where the N-Center fails is in the area of midrange definition. That''s where the big brother S-Center rules. JBL''s decision to use a plastic housing instead of traditional wood is obviously one that was made in order to cut manufacturing costs. What the difference is in terms of sound quality between plastic and wood in a center channel speaker, I don''t know. Similar Products Used: JBL N-Center, Polk Audio CSI-175 |

Strength:
Attractive syling. Crisp clear sound for Music and HT. Excellent timbre matching.
Weakness:
Quite heavy for such a small speaker because of the large magnets. My system currently consists of the following components. Hitachi 53UWX10B Onkyo TX-DS797 JVC XV-SA70BK JBL S-Center JBL S312''s JBL S36''s I purchased this speaker after a lot of searching for the most possible bang for my dollar. JBL''s S series may well be the best value on the market today and the Center is no exception. Dialog is crisp and clear amidst many distractions on action DVD''s. Musically it blends perfectly with the other speakers in the series. Timbre matching is great with the rest of the series. It is a transparent companion to my 312''s and really fills in with rich and clear tonal presence. I highly recommend you audition not only this speaker, but the entire S series. Strength:
Clarity and separation
Weakness:
None so far. Was concerned about molded housing, but does not seem to be an issue Bought without testing but found it meets all my expectations and needs. Local stereo shops talk down about current JBL products, but I am totally satisfied with performance and value. Similar Products Used: Infinity surround system. Old JBL Flix. |

Strength:
Very good sound and clarity and, can handle the wattage. Looks tough, an who cares if it does have a plastic enclosure. Has gold binding posts like all the Studio Series have.
Weakness:
None that I''ve found. The price online made it a great value over retail. This is a great center channel for the money. 3-way sound is very good and clean. I''ve experenced no problems at all with this unit. It does match up well with my other JBL speaker''s. An is definately better suited for a higher current receiver than the N-Center. Looks great an I almost want to leave the grill off of it My Set-up: Toshiba 36 inch TV(Need HDTV Big Screen) Onkyo TX-DS-777 AV Receiver Toshiba 2109 DVD Player AudioSource EQ-100 Graphic Equilizer Front''s- JBL S38''s Center- JBL S-Center Rear''s- JBL S38''s Subwoofer- Dayton Loudspeaker Titanic 12 Set-Up.
