Strength:
Very smooth sound, and excellent transient response.
Weakness:
Not beautiful like some more expensive speakers, just kinda plain jane black vinyl woodgrain. This speaker saved me a lot of money and brought a smile to my face in the process. I got it from UBID.com for under $100, shipping included. I was a little skeptical at first, because I had never heard any Wharfedale speakers before with my own ears, but this speaker was no disappointment. It is quite heavy, and the shielding is very good. I had no idea it would ever integrate so well with my Bostons. It might as well have been part of the VR series, as far as my ears told me. What I liked right out of the box was the gold plated 5-way binding posts, and how heavy it was for its size. The woofer/mids are poly w/ rubber butyl surrounds, so they will last, and the tweeter is a silk dome. For any price under $200, I don't think you can go wrong with this speaker. I was ready to pay $300-400 dollars or more for a Boston or Mirage center, but this speaker is great. Strength:
Good Highs, Moderate Lows & mids
Weakness:
Nothing below 60hz, Slight coloration between 100-300 hz I finally purchased this model after seeing it on Ebid for long enough. I have 2 Wharf MFM-5s for fronts, 2 Saphire 83's (2-way bookshelf) for rears, and this center for the center. The MFM-5s are FANTASTIC clean speakers with no coloration. The sapphires have some color. The Modus center is very good. The highs are much better than the Infinity CC-3, but it does have a slight low end coloration. Similar Products Used: Infinity CC-3 |

Strength:
Crisp highs, heavy magnets, gold connections
Weakness:
a little clunky I purchased this center on Ubid as well for less than $100. When I open it and turned it on - WOW. The highs and mids are clear and crisp. Good two mid design with ferrofluid cooled silk tweeter. For the price the speaker was outstanding, but for the sound it stood out as well. I have the center teamed with the Modus 1.6 as my fronts, and Infinity for surround. What a great system for not a lot of bucks!!!! Similar Products Used: polk cs400 |

Strength:
Sound quality, gold posts, black finish and style match my Sapphire 97's.
Weakness:
None yet Bought this to replace a cheap center speaker I was using. Much better defined mid's and highs. I dont think the box is cheaply made. For the price paid it does the job and well. It presented me with a far better sound than I was getting with the B.I.C. Ventury. One note, it fit in well with my other speakers. Wharfedale Sapphire 89's, both in sound and in finish. I have it sitting on an oak stand. I am happy with it's looks and sound quality. Similar Products Used: B.I.C. |
