Strength:
Speak as speakers should.
Weakness:
Need an amp ( eq? ) that can crank the bass. I have a pair of 3312's ( which from reviews of both appear to be quite different ). They crank, 200W program. Sound nice, and can be used as a fan when cranking 20Hz! ( No joke, just need a good amp ) Love the bass although must be positioned quite carefully to null out any bass pockets ( in small - med size rooms ). I had a valve amp driving one channel, and digital driving the other, accually provided an amazing overall sound. |

Unknown I also got caught in this scam whilst in Hong Kong, but luckily although unwittingly sold on a pair and recuped what I had paid for 4 pairs. I still have 2 pairs of the 3312 models if any of you out there like them. I see the generally regarded satisfactory price seems to be $100 or £70 so will sell for this if you reply. Good overall sound quality, low to high. Best when you can pump some juice into them. Everything from metal to classical to movies sound good.
Weakness:
The seemingly only way to buy them. Do you really want your girlfriend to buy them on the street? Like nearly everyone else who gave a review I bought these from two guys in a minivan who were realy looking to get rid of some speakers. I was getting gas for my car and they said they worked for an electronics store and that some Joe who thought he was getting 8 speakers really paid for 8 pair so they had 8 left over and had to get rid of them before they returned to the store. Saying they were the "top line from Canada"lol, and retailed for $1200/piece, I asked them how much they wanted. They said they had no idea but they thought $400/pair was an amazing buy. The crazy thing is that I really was in the market for new speakers so we split the difference. I've thought these are very good speakers since I first turned them on three years ago. They do sound better if you are able to crank them up some. But I have been extremely happy with them regardless of where they come from(?) At least mine were totally unopened with the original plastic wrapping and everything. If you need good (but not the best)speakers, the key here is to pay least amount possible which sounds like anything you ask. Make them settle for $100/pair and you will have a deal that is unbeatable. I can't believe there are so many of you out there! Mine are the 3312 Acoustic. Price. You can buy these for about $100/pair.
Weakness:
Quality is poor, speakers are low end with weak drivers and cheap wiring and connections. Pretty cheap, low quality but not too bad for rear speakers if you have a low quality system over all. When I listen to anything more detailed than TV I just turn off the rear speakers. Similar Products Used: Pre-fab stereo systems. |

Sounds just fine at mid and high levels. Not horrible at low levels, just not VERY good.
Weakness:
The idea that buying them the way they tend to be sold could put the buyer in harm's way. It seemed safe at the time. But who needs a couple of scam artists following you to your ATM. This is amazing. I always wondered what the story was with these speakers. "Acoustic" sounds SO generic. Well, I have to agree with the general assessment of these speakers. They are great when you crank them. I used them as my primary speakers for a while and moved my Bose to rear speakers because they sounded better at lower volume levels. When I broke back down to two front and a center due to space restrictions, the Acoustic speakers went to the garage. Finally did another internet search today after one a few years ago came up dry, and I'm excited to see the history. I'm pulling them back up to the house now and may use them to amplify my electronic drum kit until I can get a Mackie powered speaker. Similar Products Used: None. |

Weakness:
Absolutely everything. I bought the 3311's out of curiosity, I've seen people pay stupid money on auction sites but have always been suspisious of the nature of these speakers. When they arrived and I got to have a good look at them my expectations dropped from "very low" to "how would they look as a coffee table", they are made of what I can only describe as "chipboard" and the terminals are available from toy shops at 50 pence. Before having a listen I decided to disassemble one and on doing so found the cheapest, nastiest most light weight drivers I'd ever seen, the quality is what you might expect from a dinner gong on a Swiss submarine. Add to that zero lagging and some gold coloured plastic knobs and you've got possibly the worlds worst made speaker ever. A couple of days later I thought I'd plug them in just to see what I wasn't missing and was moderately surprised, they actually sounded better than their parts and build quality suggested they might. At low to moderate volumes they performed OK but lacked any real detail and those S's came across like a puncture, when I turned them up the base kicked in with all with all the accuracy and punch of a one legged mule, they were however loud. I think who ever put these speakers together was obviously going for looks and nothng else as part of a scam which has been suggested by other reviewers, what they got was a speaker that will just about do as long as you're not planning to listen very hard. All I can say is, if you want something big to run in the background or for the kids to play with then these are for you, just don't pay more than £30 for them, they simply aren't worth it. Excellent sound quality and bass.
Weakness:
Not the best at low volumes. I bought these speakers in 1997 and they have performed excellent since I got them. I use them with a 100 watts per channel Kenwood receiver. I kinda thought it was a scam to begin with when the guys quoted a retail price of $1200 asked for $500 and accepted the $100 I had in my pocket. |

Great bass response. Great highs. Sounds wonderful with Tchaikovsky or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
Weakness:
None, unless you are an audiophile and like nothing less than McIntosh. I went to a store closing with my father about ten years ago. We tried these speakers out. Acoustic Studio Monitors...with gold knobs to adjust mids and highs. Nice 12" liquid cooled woofer. I have always thoroughly enjoyed these speakers. In fact, until I read the posts here, I would''ve thought they were worth $300 a piece. I don''t really understand where they come from now that I have read the posts. All I know is that they sound excellent. I used them for years and still use them when I go home to visit my parents. When they leave the house, they get turned way up and sound so very good. I''m not stupid. I know what speakers should sound like. My father is not stupid. HE is an electrical engineer and he decided they were good enough to buy. I would buy these again, and am buying 4 of them, which is overkill because 2 of them fill any room. I guess that as long as you dont pay too much, they are worth it. They sound alot better than $300.00 bose speakers.. PS- Everyone I have played these for loves them. Similar Products Used: Bose, Sony, Kenwood, Technics. |

bass, dropoff My dad bought these off the back of a truck about 7/8 years ago. our fam of course was all impressed and they sounded decent. however, when i started buying my own stereo equipment, i was unimpressed with my own speakers. so i dragged up the acoustics and took a listen. when a solid amount of good clean power is pumped through them, they really sound great. freq. respone is about 44-22khz which is a little weak at bottom. don''t feel bad if you got ripped off, just push em with a decent amp and you''ll be surprised. |

Weakness:
Sound quality Oh, this is really funny. Obviously I fell into the scam too, but it happened while I was living in Geneva Switzerland! These guys are all over the place! A white van close to an ATM was involved. Paperwork for customs clearance, just arriving from the airport, supposedly 8 speakers should have arrived, but they got 12, even though the paperwork only shows 8. No need to show boss, he''s expecting to receive 8, brochures showing the price, etc etc etc I barely used the speakers for several years, didn''t think they sounded that great. If you cranked them up louder, they sounded better, but were I lived, that wasn''t an option. Now I''ve used them for the last year, and they''ve been adequate, considering that we''ve got two little kids and I have hardly time for music. We play primarily kids music through them... Mine actually says "Acoustic 3312 Studio Monitor". Improved product development? lol The really funny bit is that shortly after purchasing the speakers I saw a pair in a fairly upscale restaurant in Geneva. They used them for the music for the dance floor. Now that obviously made me feel like I made a good deal. LMAO! What a cheap skate somebody in that restaurant must have been, or maybe they really got ripped off for the ''full value'' of these things... Similar Products Used: None |
