nothing at this price point purchased these after having the M3's for about a year. don't get me wrong the M3's are a dream, clear, tight and clean sounding, but I needed to upgrade because of bigger space. these are GREAT. all of the sound of the M3's, but more....believe the hype, it's true. these are very pleasant and enjoyable speakers to listen to. They look great. Build quality and design is top notch. The attention to detail is there. smooth accurate sound. good soundstage and imaging. made in canada not china. excellent web site with enough product line for everybodys taste. 30 day trial, money back guarantee.
Weakness:
none There are a lot of speaker companies out there and not many who provide the customer with performance and style for your money as AXIOM. I highly recommend anybody looking for quality sight and sound to try this company. The M22ti was delivered to my door promptly by fed-ex(included in the price) 2 days later. The finish is a beautiful cherry veneer on all sides with a nice pair of gold plated binding posts. the front grills are constructed as to not have anything obstructing the flow of sound coming from the drivers except for the fabric itself. The drivers are well secured to the cabinet with allen wrench type screws and the tweeter with double the amount of screws. I am impressed with the attention to detail at this price point. My listening room is 8x12x10 and the stands are custom made at 17 inches tall. The M22ti is tall and thin but rock solid and heavy. I decided I was more comfortable with them on a wider than the speaker type stand. After about 3 -4 cd's I was able to appreciate the well designed sound. My music preference is mostly jazz, world, rock instrumental. Starting off new they warmed up fast and continued to do so a few days later, finally settling in. The sound is neutral without being to warm or bright with the midrange clean and clear.the bass is present and firm with just the right amount of punch. I notice that the sound is also smoother, with a feeling of space for the instruments to breathe. the soundstage is spread nicely across the room and the depth of sound is pleasant.Imaging is good with sound sometimes moving around me. you do not feel the music is coming from three drivers. I have noticed that they show off the quality of each individual cd giving me a more accurate representation. Both male and female vocals are clear and acurate free of any "nasaly" or "chesty" sound. Mid's and high's - great detail Customer Service and 30 day audition period. Best value out there
Weakness:
Break in period - don't judge these babies out of the box. Give em at least a week of regular listening. I almost bought Nuance Speakers, then Energy, then Mirage, then Paradigm.... glad I held off. These M22's fit the bill perfectly. Very clear, detailed sound. I've pulled out all the CD's that were getting dusty and renewed my love of music-time. Very high value. Canadian speakers offer the most bang for the buck and Axiom are tops. I would go with the M22's for bookshelfs, or M3's if you want to save a few bucks. You'll need a sub if you want the full sound range (typical with ANY bookshelf). Go for the M60's or M80's if you want towers. Strength:
Tranparency of sound. Dynamic Response. Clarity! Clarity! Clarity! Tight Bass where the bass is functional. Ultimate bang for the buck! Well Built. Looks good.
Weakness:
Requires a subwoofer for most music. Needs a stand for most applications. Originally, I was going to go ahead and spring for the M60ti or the M80ti. Coming to my financial senses, I decided to audition the easier to ship and easier to buy M22's before I sprung for the big bucks on the towers. I thought if I liked them well enough I would make the M22's my surrounds and then spring for the towers. I'm glad I bought these bad boys first! They have wonderful trasparacy; the sound is crystal clear. I am hearing nuances in my music and DVD's I have never heard before. (On the downside, a great many recordings I thought were 'perfect' are now showing all their flaws). Classical music, my passion springs to life. I had an audiophile friend come over and give them the go over his arsenal of music. I couldn't believe what the speakers could do and he couldn't believe what they could do for a fifth the price he paid for his mains. I'm planning on getting another pair of the 22's for my rears. A good subwoofer is needed for these guys... but the clarity of their midrange and treble makes this ideal for a budget amp. My Outlaw 1050 does a great job delivering sound and I have to quit on the volume knob when my ears start bleeding and there is still a good 10 more notches to go. Highly reccomended! Strength:
Clarity, crispness, soundstage, ease of placement, bass for the size of the woofers
Weakness:
For the price, none. I already had some QS4s and I knew how good they sounded and what they added to our system so I knew these would be good. What I didn't know was just how great they would be, especially at this price. We have been going through speakers the past year just trying to find something within our budget that sounded like "live" sound. These M22s are so crisp and so clear and so powerful!! The bass is very tight and somewhat powerful considering the size of the woofers but, yes, a sub is needed and fills out the spectrum. With music, every instrument can be heard and "seen" in the soundstage and movies sound so realistic. We love these speakers and will keep them until we trade up to some 60s or 80s. CLEAN, CLEAR, DEFINED
Weakness:
Not the prettiest speaker out there. You'll need a subwoofer to fill out the low end. I just bought these and they have not yet been broken in, but already they are wonderful. I did extensive research before purchasing anything. In the end I bought a pair of the Axiom M22ti's and a pair of the Energy C3's. Here's what I found... I bought both and brought them home to A/B compare them on my own system in my own living room. Listening to a variety of types of music with NO subwoofer, it was hard to pick a winner. The Axioms definately had clearer highs, but the Energy C3's had a much fuller, richer sound - though not as clear and defined. It sounded like the high end was behind a damp cloth. We then flipped on the sub. (Note: my sub is a really cheap Yamaha, nothing special by any means) The Axioms came alive! What they were missing in the "no-sub" tests was easily filled in with even my sub-par subwoofer. Their highs were now beautifully clean and clear and backed up by a fuller robust lower end. The Energy's still had a nice full sound, and now with even lower lows, but their highs didn't stand out at all. All the high end sounded buried, and couldn't break out. After trouncing the Energy C3's we sat back and enjoyed watching "Chocolat" on DVD with the Axioms. Ahhh...sweet clean sound. The hype is true. I don't think you can find a better pair of speakers than the Axiom M22ti's for any where near their price. If you're looking to buy a pair of bookshelf speakers look no further than the Axiom M22ti. I got my pair from the www.axiomaudio.com website. I even picked up a pair of their "B stock" for only $360!!!! (There's not a scratch on them!!!) The Energy's cost $500. fyi...shipping is FREE and I received my speakers the day after I placed the order! Similar Products Used: Energy C3, B&W 601, 602, Boston Acoustics 950 |

Strength:
Great imaging, wide soundstage, hight and depth impressive too.Extremly even and warm, with plenty of air.(All this after at least 50 hours running-in).
Weakness:
Maybe not the prettiest things on the market, but that is a last consideration....finish(in cherry) is nice enough. Could use bi-wire posts, but now that I think of it,I'm not sure what this would improve. I hate buying speakers. After the 6th pair, all objectivity is gone, and I start thinking about how much I can get for the kids just to avoid the whole process and get the damn $28,000 Krells.....just to be sure. That said, this time I did a heap of research before going out there, and was able to recognize at the very least what I was missing from my current set-up.For me,that was imaging and transparency. This process has taken about a month, starting with a new CD player,Rotel RCD 971,then new integrated,Cambridge A500(85 w/side at 8 ohm). After good burn-ins on both these new peices,I could tell that there was more needed. The Rotel showed me there was soundstage there, but the Angstroms I had weren't spacy enough. Pretty well every speaker i heard, priced from $600 to $1200 had decent musicality.Highs were good in most, bass only passable in all.Mids were variable through the range, but none provided the imaging or stage that I was after. To be honest,I didn't think there was gonna be anything in my budget. Enter Axiom. I live near the factory(which is in the middle of the bush in northern Ontario),and decided to give them a shot.....an easy enough return of they didn't work out.Great people, btw, but they don't have much in the way of a listening room,so i bought them un-heard,just as most reviewers here. Out of the box I could immediately hear 2 things, before I got to my chair.First was the way too bright highs....ear-bleeding at moderate volume.Second was an extremely broad midrange....deep and warm. Bass response was only adequate, but I remained patient. 6 hours later, the brightness of the tweeters had all but gone....that is to say,the highs remained clean, crisp and complete(a little distort with some steel drum, but hey...still early).Set the thing on repeat, and left for the day. 20 hours later, whole new ball-game.Tight,controlled bass, good quick punch with only a little roll-off.Even,defined midrange.Clean, spirited highs with no pain,no distortion...even when pushed hard.Best of all is the imaging....detailed,precise,with no wandering.....cymbals and tinkly things stay put with out drifting to either chanel.Soundstage is wider than you could possibly expect anywhere close to this price point. And not just wide, but good height and depth too.Lots of air, maybe not deep dark silent air,but hey,it's a bookshelf(bigger than most),and a major bargain.Easily driven too...even you 28 watt toobers can drive these(sorry..."valves"). As they burn in further, the soundstage is opening up considerably,so be patient when you BUY THESE SPEAKERS! A little advice to those just starting out, seeing as I have your attention... Forget the big-box,Curcuit City,Future Shop type retailers. There are NO deals there, not a one.Mass product, with all it's bells and flashing lights will not make your ears feel good.Even low-end "audiophile" equipment is miles above Asian designed trash(remember those knock-off watches?...all show and no go,same filosofy). You do not need 200 watts a channel, unless you live at the palace. You do not need an equalizer.No-one does. You do need good cables and inter-connects between all components...this is way important,so spend the bucks.Good solid, real heavy stands are more important than you would think too.Find yerself a good small retailer and make him your friend.Check out some Brittish amps and receivers. (price quoted above is in Canadian $.) Almost as nice to look at as it is to listen to. Great clarity, smoothness, and accuracy. Great, deep soundstage. Sound great at high and low volume levels, with all the detail there. Price/Performance.
Weakness:
None at these prices, other than they won't fetch my remote. I purchased 2 pairs of M22ti from Marc Hallam at THE AUDIO SHOP. He gave me a great deal on these and a VP150 center channel and a pair of Atlantis speaker stands. These beauties(Boston Cherry) create a wonderful seamless soundstage along with the VP150. Great transparency, clarity, and smoothness. They sounded great right out of the box. I have about 250 hours of use on them now, and they are nothing short of awesome. I can't listen to enough music now. Jazz, Easy Listening, Reggae, Salsa, Orchestral music all sound great. There is a certain refinement in their sound that makes me smile when I realize the price/performance ratio is totally off the scale. The treble and midrange performance is sweet, clear, smooth, and dead-on accurate. Bass is accurate and fast, and integration with my 2 NHT subs was a snap. It all blends in to create a soundstage is very realistic for music, and awesome for Dolby Digital and DTS--you are right in the middle of the action. Jaw-dropping special-effects and dynamics. I could go on and on. Highly recommended, audition them for yourself. Thank you Axiom. Best audio/video purchase I have ever made in over thirty years of enjoying this hobby--BRAVO AXIOM. Strength:
middle and upper frequency clarity, good sound stage
Weakness:
has a "thin box" tone and color. Recently I had a chance to compare Axiom M22, M3, and Energy C-3 , the 3 heavily reviewed speakers, side by side. I used varieties of testing CDs: Classical music, male/femal vocal, Rap, and easy listening. The one speaker that surprised me during initial listening, was the Axiom M22. Shifting from Energy C3, M22 sounds "boxed" ! The sound was thin and boxy, so different from Energy C3. You can feel the color of M22 box. Axiom M3, on the other hand, sounded more similar to Energy than M22 . I wonder why nobody has complained about M22? M22's strenth is in middle and upper frequency clarity. M3 sounded less defined than M22. With respect to tone color, M3 and Energy C3 are more banlanced and color nuetral. The best of the three speakers, overall, is Energy C-3. Sorry guys. I don't mean to offend M22 fans here. My recommendation goes to M3 if your wallet is really tight; to Energy C3 if can afford about $CDN 200 more. |

Strength:
Lush treble. Accuracy (stereo image). Transparency.
Weakness:
At $400 - NONE. At $1000 - bass could be deeper. I am truly amazed with the M22Ti's. I own a slew of audio/music stuff ranging from a mid-level 5.1 home theatre rig (big honking JBLs, 600w receiver, 200w sub, etc.) to hand-built all-tube guitar amps, and I can not remember being so floored by the value of a piece of gear. It took me maybe 45mins to set these up in my home studio (I'm using them as reference monitors) to where the stereo image was astonishingly clear - more clear than I have ever heard outside multi-thousand dollar speakers. Soundstage depth is only ok in my rig, but i have the speakers pretty close (18") to the wall. Bass response isn't window-rattling, but is tight, clear, and blissfully accurate WAY further down than you would expect from a bookshelf speaker. At $400, these are a stupid, no-brainer value for near-audiophile 2-channel stereo or small home theatre. Clear, big, transparent sound with silky, near-audiophile treble. Bravo!
