I would like to start off by describing my setup. I am running an Onkyo 696 receiver,B&W CC6 S2 center channel,B&W 602 S2 mains, and JBL S26 for rears. As I watch movies or play CDs, I notice there is something missing but I just couldn't not put my finger on it. One day driving home from work I noticed that the treble from my car stero was way too high. As I was lowering the volume it hit me. Thats what I'm Missing, thats what I need more of. I got home and raced upstairs to my room and cranked a CD to realize that my hypothisis was correct. I am lacking a lot of treble. I have the treble knob fully turned and it still feels distant. So the first thing I need to do is replace my mains (602 S2). So I shop around locally and find nothing that sooths my finiky ears. So I go to my favorite review site, which would be the one your on right now. I'm reading through the reviews and stumble on the Axiom section. The reviews for all there speakers where spectacular and everyone is raving about the prices on these speakers. So I go to there site and see for myself. I said OK, I'm gonna try out these M22 Ti,s. When they arrived, I quickely slapped the bannana cables to there rightful place and went for the ride, and there it was like a slap in the face. The treble I have been missing, the highs never sound so clean,so lush,so vibrant. I was a satisfied customer. Believe it or not they soound just great with my center(cc 6s2).Next purchase is going to be the Axiom QS4,s for rears. I recomend these speakers to anyone looking for very clean sound. You just can't beat that price.

Strength:

Good imaging, very good with voices, smooth sound with very nuetral timbre. Not bright. (If you like a bright sound, look elsewhere). Inexpensive.

Weakness:

None, for the price.

I owned a pair of Paradigm Atoms before I purchased these speakers. I love good music, but live on a very small income and I could never buy a really good pair of speakers. The Atoms were amazing speakers for me, especially considering their small size. But, naturally, they did not satisfy me completely. So when I got a chance to purchase the Axiom speakers from their factory outlet at only $320 (including shipping) I jumped at the chance. I am not at all disappointed. These speakers are a definate improvement over the Atoms. They took 60-70 hours to open up, but the wait was worth it. The Atoms had excellent imaging and were very good with female voices, but with male voices they sounded somewhat stuffy. "The Baja Sessions" by Chris Isaac in particular sounded horrible with my Atoms, but his closed-miked voice comes across nice and natural with the Axioms. I have listened to many other speakers that are better than these, but nothing under $1,000 comes close. If you have only $320 (or $400 regular price) you will probably be happy with these. I am. Besides, you have a 30-day tryout period.

Strength:

Detail, Clarity, open sound stage, very efficient so you don't need gobs of power.

Weakness:

As with most any bookshelf, use a subwoofer, especially for the true home-theater experience.

I usually don't post reviews on consumer sites. Often, I keep a good thing to myself and word of mouth to friends. But after reading the review by Jeff below, I had to comment. I recently left the audio/electronics retail field after 20 years to move on to new things. I still have contacts in the business, and could easily get many of the most popular consumer brand speakers at wholesale. I chose the Axiom M22ti's. In my opinion, they are the most detailed, open, and neutral bookshelf speakers on the market under $1000.00. They have a transparency with both male and female vocals that is unmatched at this price point and significantly beyond. To quote a review from a major publication regarding the M22's, "forget about price for a moment....These speakers are THAT good"(remarking on the smoothness and clarity of the midrange and high frequency) Perhaps Jeff forgot to take them out of the shipping cartons when he listened to them. But, to each his own. Listen to them if you have an opportunity, or take advantage of the 30 day trial.

Strength:

Frequency response. Treble and Midrange are both excellent. Bang for the buck. Vocal representation. Blending with sub.

Weakness:

Currently the imaging is good but not great. I am hoping this will improve with breakin.

I recieved the M22TiSE speakers from the Audio Shop on Friday. They were great to deal with and had a good deal on the speakers with Atlantis Stands and Kimber cable speaker wire. I upgraded the cable from 4PR to 8TC. Setup of the stands was straightforward and the speakers and stand were a good match. For me, the 16" stands offered at the Axiom site would be too short. I had some problem getting the 8TC wire into the binding post hole, but finally succeeded. I should mention what speakers I am replacing. I have a pair of Thiel CS3.5 speakers. These came with an equalizer box to boost the bass, which I discarded rather quickly. There was less bass punch, but the overall sound was much better without the box. A few years ago I bought a Mirage sub. The Mirage and the Thiel sounded good together, but did not completely mesh. After reading the soundstage review and the reviews on this site, I took the plunge (not much of a plunge at these prices) and ordered a pair. They arrived 2 days later by Fedex second day air (included in the price). The speakers were not too hard to place. About 3 feet from the rear wall worked well. I tried toeing them in at the listening position, but since I sit about 13' from the speakers, this wasn't the best. I ended up with them toed in slightly. Right out of the box, the sound was surprisingly good. Vocals were more pronounced than with the Thiels and that was a good thing. The treble was smoother, which is important to me. The Axiom also blended better with the sub. The only drawback was the imaging, which isn't yet as good as the Thiels. For a big speaker, the Thiels disappear during listening. For $400 + $70 or so for the stands, these speakers are a downright steal. The Thiels listed for $2350, 15 years ago and their replacement is almost $4000. As the M22's continue to break in, I will amend this review.

Strength:

Midrange!!

Weakness:

A little bright on the treble. Try arranging the speakers "toe out" so they have wide dispersion. Could be my Rotel Amp

I was forced to change speakers because my TV started showing ill effects from unshielded speakers nearby. Previously, I owned Sound Dynamics RTS-3 bookshelves. I was very satisfied with them until....my package from Axiom arrived. In fact, at first they sounded quite thin on bass and tinny compared to the Sound Dynamics. Overtime (100+ hours) they flattened out and started showing better response. The RTS-3s are fat on bass. But what I realize now, after A/Bing, is that they are boomy and have a depressed midrange. The M22's are much more resolving, with a rich, cascading midrange perfect for acoustic music and vocals. The bass is tight and adequate (without a sub), a slight hump it seems around 100hz, but this is normal for bookshelves in my experience--I suspect it's the porting. Maybe my ears are more sensitive to that frequency range. I was very happy with Axiom's customer service. I talked with Alan in NY, their on-call guy Wednesday evening on the toll-free line. Then I talked via email to Amie, the VP and wife of Axiom founder Ian Colquhoun. They answered all of my questions promptly and professionally. My speakers were on their way within a couple days of my order, shipped free Fedex 2 day to Alaska. I know that the shipping would have cost around $100, so hats off to Axiom for the savings. I researched long and hard. Read all the reviews. Even talked to Brian Cheney with VMPS, winner of the CES best of show award this year. But in the end, for the price, quality (reviews), service and support I had to choose Axiom. Oh and if you go to their "factory outlet" section of the website, you can find discounts. I ordered mine this way and the only difference that I can tell is when you remove the grill on one of the speakers one of the rubber receptacles will pop out with it. But they just pop right back in. No problem there. It's the difference of $80. I can deal.

Imaging, soundstage, clarity, detail, open and airy sound, no listening fatigue, tight and controlled sound, never boomy, will reveal all that is on the recording.

Weakness:

None. People complain there is now deep bass... THESE ARE BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS!!! they''re not supposed to have deep bass!

BUY THESE SPEAKERS! They offer audiophile quality at a cheap price. Don''t let the price fool you! If these speakers were 1400$, they''d still be a steal

Strength:

Transparency of midrange and nicely balanced high end. A microscope on the system but yet it does it in a way that does not overemphasize shortcomings so that you can evolve gracefully...???

Weakness:

Most people, including myself, have commented on the lack of bass. I think that what is there is really good and often extends subjectively very low and clean. I have no real complaints unless you are into organ music.

This is the 3rd installment of a set of reviews by me. The submission of reviews on this site have slowed significantly since the rebuild of this site...bad ergonomics ? I have had the M22ti for almost 4 months and I continue to like them. My system has change significantly as a result of the transparency of these speakers. I now have an outboard DAC called the Art DI/O which is sweet and dynamic sounding. I have upgraded the diode bridges (both low level preamp and poweramp) on my NAD 3020 to fast diodes with slow recovery characteristics (Onsemi UG4D) with good results readily heard via the Axiom speakers. Last the DI/O didoe bridges were upgraded to Schottky diodes 1N5819. Last is the use of an AC line filter based on Jon Risch''s design. The results of all this is an sound that seems to have the smooth sweetness of analog vinyl playback with the detail, bass and slam of a CD bass/Solid state electronics...no digital nasties to speak of. The critical component to all of this has been the addition of the Axiom M22ti speakers. Friends of mine have been so impressed that one bought the M80ti, another the M40ti, and I''m thinking of picking up a pair of M3ti for my sister''s upcoming BD.

Strength:

These just sound right. None of the instruments or vocals or sound effects depending on what you''re listening to compete with eachother. Smooth, clear sound at any volume level. Piano sounds incredible (which is a personal test I like to put speakers through). Not too bright, but perfectly clear, solid highs. Bloody outstanding.

Weakness:

Bass. But that''s not a weakness because I wasn''t expecting Huge bass from these things, as nobody should. So forget it. They''re perfect for my situation.

I''ve been a big Klipsch dork for a long time. I had KG 5.5 floorstanding fronts for a long time, and loved every minute of listening to them. I recently moved in NYC and my neighbor was very bothered by the bass put out by the towers and their 4 12" woofers. So I set out to get something smaller that would still sound solid without bothering the neighbor. I had my heart set on a set of RB-3s, klipsch''s reference bookshelf models, and ended up at www.audioshop.com looking at speaker stands for them. Marc suggested I take a look at the reviews for the M22Ti''s, and I did. I was curious to say the least. Considering that my apartment, and thus the new speakers I was looking at were going to be "temporary" I thought, what the hell; give it a shot. Can''t be a Klipsch lover without trying anything new in your own home. So I got them. After just one night of listening, I think I have found a new company to support. They are astounding, even before breaking them in. The Klipsch center and surrounds when brought into the mix in "5 Channel "stereo"" mode sound harsh and unfeeling compared to the mastery the Axioms have over the replication of the music. The suppleness with which they define the space and depth of everything I''ve listened to is awe inspiring. They''re small, and don''t bother my neighbor, and have redefined my definition of smooth, solid audio reproduction. Thank you Marc at Audioshop, and thank you Axiom, for the greatest value on earth. My system: Denon AVR 3800 Denon DCM 460 Sony DVD player (I don''t know which one, it got me through in a pinch) Sony VW10HT Front Projector Klipsch Reference Surrounds Klipsch Reference Center Klipsch 10" old pre-BASH sub Axiom M22Ti''s Fronts KimberKable / AudioQuest Speaker Cable Monster Silly, Overpriced Interconnects When I move I''m doing my entire system In ARCAM and AXIOM I think.
