Strength:

Great sound. Crisp clear highs, midrange and good lowend for the size.

Weakness:

I'm tempted to toss one around like a football.

This is one of my favorite bookshelf speakers. I tried these after I got them and they sounded better at home then at the store. One of the problems is that you would have to buy a subwoofer to fill in for the low end. I listen to baSicallly all kinds of music and the mids highs and lows are good.

Strength:

Wonderful highs, good strong mids from such a small speaker

Weakness:

A stand specifically made for this speaker would have been nice...the stands out there are to big...

I picked these up to round out my home theater. Also got the Boston CR8's for my main speakers. I am very impressed!! The highs are so crisp it can be painful. The midrange is good and solid. Bass is a bit weak but who cares. Anyone with a decent systems going to use a sub anyway. The speakers also have a good look to them, nice and modern without being to gaudy. I would recommend this setup.

Just a side note: I originally got the metal 'tube' stands but they vibrated way to much. Took them back and got the basic wood stands....love them, much better, doesn't detract from the sound quality.

Excellent for use as a satellite speakers in other rooms of the house... Caution use a Niles SVL-2/4/6 Speaker Stereo Volume Control off your main amplifier to manage speaker impedance to your amplifier.
The high freqencies in these speaker lacks a bit... but can be compensated for if you have treble controls in your pre-amp or receiver... and keep in mind satellite use... For $200 a pair worth considering for a bookshelf system. For the priee was defintly impressed over the Bose 151's at $229 a pair.

Also, if you need the wall mounting brackets... Do not use/get generic mounting brackets! use the CRB mounting brackets recommended by BA. If your dealer does not carry them, the CR6's come with an order form to get them direct from BA.

I listened to the CR6 while auditioning small bookshelf speakers for my office. I also auditioned the Energy e:XL and the PSB Century series.
I think the CR6 is easily the best looking of the bunch. I just wish it had sound to match. I found the upper-midrange very muddled and the bass response (while not expecting too much of a speaker in this class) was simply awful, with horrific "chuffing" noises coming out of the inadequate porting under even modest volume.

I highly recommend looking elsewhere. Boston Acoustics CR7 is much better, but still not a match for the Energy e:XL-15 or e:XL-16, or (my choice) the PSB Century 300i.

Bought these as a gift for my mom to put in her family room as part of a whole -house Adcom powered audio system. Got them for $99.95/pr on sale a few years ago. There is no chuffing at normal listening levels. Mom couln't believe the bass coming out of such little speakers and began using them as her primary listening speakers (classical music), ignoring the expensive Niles in-walls in the living room. I tried to swap them for NHT Super Zeroes and she wouldn't have it!
Very good value for the money, even at msrp. Will buy my own pair as near-field desktop monitors since they're sheilded and have a friendly, warm sound.

I strongly disagree with the review below. The CR6 is an incredible value for the sounds reproduction. Considering the fact that it is a bookshelf speaker, the bass is great, I have had people looking around for a sub in the room that the CR6's are playing in, thinking they are part of a subwoofer system. And as far as the midrange being muddled, I find the midrange and highs to be fresh and sparkling. Now, I am certainly not saying that there probably aren't better bookshelf speakers, but you can't go wrong with the Boston Acoustics, expecially for the money.

I believe for 200 dollars these little speakers are O.K. I have them in my office waiting room (a medical clinic)for background music, so they really do not play loud, with an old Fisher X-100A tube integrated amplifier. I tested them in my house with an 85 watts/channel Technics SU-V65A integrated amplifier and in my uncle's house with a 50 watts/channel VTL tube amplifier. Yes, the turbulence from the rear port produces an unpleaseant sound at high volumes, but if you want more bass you have to buy a larger speaker or add a subwoofer(Boston Acoustics produces excellent subwoofers). There are possible better speakers in the market in this size and price range.

I have a set of Boston CR6 speaker that I'm using for front speakers and a CR2 centre speaker. I also have a CR400 Sub to enhance the bass. It is driven by a fairly light amplifier. I use high quality wiring. I am very impressed with these speakers. I do not think that there is better value for money speakers out there. They are very good all-rounders. I use them for Home Cinema as well as for music. I listen to a wide selection of music - From U2, Jewel and The Cure to Borchelli and these speakers perform well in all situations. They also seem to be able to take some punishment (Not TOO much, but more than other speaker of there size). For speaker of this size and price you can not do better. Do keep in mind however that out here in "Holland" we have fairly small houses so I do not now how these speakers will perform in large rooms.

I bought these along with the Boston Acoustics VR950s, VR12 center and the VR2000 SUB. I could not believe the sound that was comming out of these speakers. I have them used for the rears so it really isn't a good review to go buy if you are planning on getting them for mains but let me tell you that I'm amazed at how much sound these suckers put out. Not only is the sound clear but it has a great deal of base. I was totally surprised. I have my Yamaha 795 receiver set with the rear speakers on large to get the full effect of whatever base might be sent to the rears and I can turn it way up and never get any distortation. These are sweet. I mainly chose these because I didn't want to go with the bigger size for the rears because they just look too bulky for a house to me. The room that I'm useing these in is 17' by 17' which isn't small by any means. The CR6s fill it up with ease. If you are looking for a good set of rears that aren't too big but sound like a big speaker then look no further. Look for my other reviews for the VR950, VR12, and VR2000.

Strength:

imaging

Weakness:

none

Great speaker to fill in all the mid's that bigger speakers
tend to miss. imaging is fantastic, but Boston's CR series
is known for that. With a sub these little guys will do anything a decent floor stander can do.
