The system I have is the micro90pv 11. My powered sub began to degrade about 2 yrs ago. I had to keep increasing the volume to stop it shutting on and off. The light on back would vacilate between red and green causing much distortion. I sent it to the Canadian service depot and after 7 weeks they returned it stating it could not be repaired as there were no parts available. The system cost over $1500.00 so I am feeling a bit miffed. |

Strength:
Great Highs, Deep lows... True rich Sound!
Weakness:
System 9000 II''s rear speakers do not produce the quailty sound that the fronts do Wow! I listened to several speaker packages before making a purchase. I used to believe that there were no products on the market that could compare with Infinity and Bose, boy was I wrong. Since purchasing the Boston Acoustics System 9000 II - I have learned what a true audio experience is! Most true AudioPhiles will tell you that no speaker system is designed to handle both the demands of home theather and the like of stereo music, while I would agree with this statement on a broad scope - most people fall into one class or another. Again, most people. For me, I listen to music occassionally - but mainly I use my system for quailty Home Theather reproduction. Let me stress that again, Quailty - the act of pursue perfection. These speakers are by far the best boost for the buck I have ever seen. I strongly recommend! Similar Products Used: Infinity Overture 2 / Bose Lifestyle 35 |

Strength:
Excellent across all ranges, exceptional value for the price.
Weakness:
Okay, occasionally the sub is a tiny bit weak but that''s splitting hairs. I was one of those people that got taken in by the Bose marketing machine and purchased a set of AM-10s 4 years ago. And I thought they sounded great until a friend told me about a Klipsch system he bought after listening to both side by side at a local electronics store. After doing the same thing I ended up listening to the Klipsch, AM-10s and BA9000s side by side, and the Bostons blew the others away (especially the AM-10s). I didn''t realize what I was missing on the high and low ends until that comparison, and after parting with my AM-10s (for only $100 less than I paid - they do really hold their value - thanks Bose marketing machine) I hooked up the BA9000s. Have been very pleased with them across the board - watching some of my older DVDs (The Matrix, The Rock, etc.) was like watching them for the first time. And they sound just as great with CDs and even good old VHS videos and digital cable TV. I can''t recommend these highly enough - don''t waste your time with Bose. Even if you are just a casual listener just try the Bose AM-10s and BA9000s side-by-side at an electronics store and and you''ll hear the difference. And for my money the BA9000s were better than any other speaker in the same price range. Similar Products Used: Bose AM-10s |

Full sound, strong subwoofer, VALUE!
Weakness:
Some midrange deficit. What an outstanding package. Just what I''ve come to expect from Boston Acoustics (my 4th pair of BA speakers.) Sounds great for BOTH music (2 ch. stereo) AND home theater. FANTASTIC for DD/DTS once the system is configured properly. ProLogic sources not as good. Great bass output from only a 10" sub. I''ve heard the sub clipping/distortion with only two movies so far (at high volume): ice field from Titan AE and plane crash sequence from Fight Club. You can''t beat the value and quality of Boston Acoustics for moderately priced speakers! I''ll bet Bose is green with envy. Similar Products Used: Bose AM 10, BA sub-sat 6 |

Great Sound for both music and movies, Size, Price
Weakness:
probably not I've had this system for about a year now. I bought my house back in Sept. '99 and hooked everything up just right at that point. The surrounds are mounted on the wall, and the two mains are on the TV stand right beside the TV (no room for speaker stands). The sub I have right beside the TV stand. I do more listening to music than I do watching movies, but do a good bit of both. For music it is incredible. I listen to a wide variety (classical, jazz, pop, folk), and it handles everything quite well. To be honest I like a lot of the classical and some of the soft jazz vocals better on the Magnepan SMGc'sthat I have in the other room. The openness and imaging of the Maggies are wonderful. |

Superb sound, soild build, size

availability Thanks for a Goodguy salesperson I bought this system instead of a Bose AM10, which I planned to buy. The speakers fit my not-so-big living room very well and deliver great sound quality. They sound sweet at every range while you can feel the power behind. They are great for both movie and music. After this expereince, I would confidently to say if you want to improve a bit slight sound quality with this size you have to spend 5 times more money or 5 times the size. I compared BA9000 with Bose AM15, they are not at same level. Even my friend's 10K system will not make them shabby. In addition, I love their soild aluminum case construct and refinement in every detail. They just like jewel even to Energy Take 5 ($500 more). If you want a small, nice looking system, this IS your choice (BA has both white and black colors). A receiver of $1000 will be a good match (Yamaha, Denon, SonyES or Elite). Five solid stars. |

Wall brackets, Bottom end I first purchased the Polk RM665. They sounded great in the bottom end, but they lacked in the high ends. I took a listen to the Bostons and sent the Polks back. The sound is fantastic with Cd's or DVD. Similar Products Used: Polk RM665 |

Subwoofer (somewhat) All I can say is WOW! I have this system hooked up to a Sony STR-DA555ES receiver. and wow! I got this at a local electronics store for a pretty decent price, I auditioned a few speakers set ups.. The Def Tech Procinema 80 system, the Energy Take 5s, Polk Audio RM7300, and the Klipsch Quintet micro system, and I came pretty close to getting the Klipsches and the Def Techs, but I got the Bostons instead even thought I didn't like it much, but I think I'm gonna concider the VR2000 sub from Boston Acoustics, a lot more power than the Micro90pv, I would recommend this to anyone. Strength:
This is an excellent sounding, low risk, high value and high quality system.
Weakness:
Very good, but not perfect sound from CDs. If you want an acoustically matched system for surround that also does very well with stereo, (for less than $2,000) then this is your system. I have had this for about 6 months and the cross over and transition is so good that sometimes I swear that the small l/r speakers have a base module in them. Go to a top line audio store and have a listen along side any comparably priced system, or even separates, and judge for yourself. Make sure you lift one of the small l/r speaker or the center channel speaker and feel the mass. Similar Products Used: JBL L88 Nova's, Klipshorns. no Surround systems |
