Geez people, lay off. I can't believe that you guys are complaining this thing can't do high levels, and good sustained bass? They are comparing these speakers to maybe their $1000 system. Maybe some of us forgot these cost 20 times less?

I just picked these little cubes up yesterday. I compared them to all the other computer speakers that Staples had, Advent, Yamaha, Altec Lansing, and Lab Tech. These are one of the best Computer speakers I have heard. Very Musical for the 40 dollars I spent on them. The highs and imagining are good for COMPUTER speakers. I am sure that there are $100 + computer speakers that are better and can blow these away, but for 40 dollars or 50 dollars when not on sale, nothign can beat thses little guys. Not very powerful, but who needs a bass thumpin' loud 110 spl computer speakers? The bass is muddy, but if you keep the volume down on the sub, and don't expect the little 5" woofer to rock your floor, the bass is full and warm. The highs, if played really loud with music, can get tiring. I truly enjoy these little wonders and gave up my Altecs that I used to have for these guys. Very pleasing sound.
5 stars, but the peak in the highs and the muddy bass if played loud I give it 4.

This is a 3 piece speaker system, driven by two 2" long throw driver satellites @ 3.5W RMS each and a 5" driver for the subwoofer @ 10W RMS. All rated at < 1% THD. It comes with an inline volume control that can be placed for easy reach. The satellites have a good midrange to high frequency response, despite the fact that it doesnt use tweeters. However when it comes down to the subwoofer, its disappointing. It has a muddy sounding output, and distorts at high volume. Placing weight (such as a heavy text book) on the top of the subwoofer helped to reduce distortion. I have noticed that the distortion comes from the thin plastic enclosure vibrating, producing an annoying sound. Apart from that, the mid-high range sound is clear and pleasing(connected to a soundblaster Live!), and for the size of this unit, it is surprisinly loud. But dont expect it to wake up your neighbours. Overall its a good value for money package, however when it comes down to the subwoofer, you'll have to be forgiving.

Strength:

Durability,Price,Size,Sound, availability

Weakness:

Satelites wires are permently attached

After 1.5 years of torture my PC works are still sounding decent. At 45$ dollars at a electronic clearance store I feel that these speakers are great, I was charged 37$ dollars for the cheap speakers that came with my custom built PC(they suck). I like that the pcworks are available in black, most kinds are not. Compared to my work speackers(altec lansing) which cost 3x the price of these they really give them a run for the money. After 2 months of heavy use my Altecs woofer's foam suspension tore.(altec said that abuse caused it, but i beileve they were just defected) They will be replaced with a set of pc works soon. After 1.5 years of heavy use( during which the sub has been kicked and dropped, and a satelite had coffee spilled on and into it)they still work trouble free. Best of all these speakers have never really become obselete like the rest of my PC( they still jam). ( you can still buy PC works at many chain electronic stores) Hooray CSW and p*ss on Altec Lansing

Strength:

Small size, good sound, very full bass, excellent office or desktop sound system -- full depth to music even at low volume. Has independent volume control and adjustable woofer volume.

Weakness:

May not be large enough for large living room; most appropriate for personal use.

Many people in my office have bought these speakers. They're excellent for an office music system -- I use it to play jazz, and when the bass kicks in, people start looking around my office, trying to find where that fat sound is coming from.

Small size, unobtrusive, and the low end ROCKS. Especially good value for $50.

I have a CD disc man -- plugged the headphone jack for this system into it and voila, instant personal HI FI. Sub woofer fits under desk.

Best part is, you don't have to crank it loud to achieve good sound definition.

Strength:

Price!! Sound!!

Weakness:

For $39? None!

Are you kidding?!?! These little guys are awesome!! Crisp! Earth Wind & Fire's horns blew me away! For the price, I'm convinced there can be nothing out there that will touch these. Can they compare to the ARs? Almost..but the ARs were almost $300!!! Are the highs just a tad harsh? Maybe....but they're $39!!!! wow....too cool...
