Strength:
Big, clean sound. Excellent reproduction. The most bang for the buck of any CSW main speaker.
Weakness:
None. I traded up from the Tower II to the Towers. Although the Tower II are an excellent speaker, I liked the Bipolar design of the Towers better. I was itching to upgrade and went to CSW to trade up to the T300. I listened carefully to the T300 and really, really wanted to like them enough to Similar Products Used: Tower II, Newton T300. |

The Towers have a good soundstage, but not the best. They have resonably loud bass, could go louder, but it does go VERY deep. They have an open, smooth sound quality that is comparable to more expensive speakers in the $2000-$2500 range. Lower midrange is slightly bloated in comparison to others. Midrange/tweeter driver can go quite loud and don't get "focused" at high volumes, unlike many similarly-priced systems. Good construction, not the greatest, however. Inside is braced for support; minimal vibration through side walls. Allows bi-wiring. Good sound, excellent industry-best (yes, it is actually THE best)10-year warranty, and good construction at a good price. You would have to pay up to $1000 dollars more for better sound. I know all this because I own these and several other CSW, Paradigm, NHT, and M&K speaker systems. |

These are quite good speakers. Nice, deep bass that plays pretty loud in comparison to others. They also have an open, natural sound to them that I've only heard from more expensive speakers. And now they are even better with a full 10-year warranty, which is better than any others I have seen. I haven't heard better speakers in this price range. |

These speakers sound very good, both for home theater and for music. I have detected no vibrations from the cabinets. They seem very solid and well constructed. They consist of a 1" soft-dome tweeter, a 5" midrange, and 2 8" woofers. The tweet-mid pair is mirrored in the rear. |

Five stars? No way. I heard these while putting together my system and I was not very impressed.. They were great, but not as good as some others in the same price range. The the mid-bass is indeed bloated and the bottom end is a little boomy. Otherwise, it's a great speaker to own. I would also consider a NHT tower(namely the NHT 2.5i). The 2.5i hasn't as much bass, but it's a hell of a lot clearer. I wish I could give this CSW tower a 3.5, but I can't. |

$1500. Only 300 watts. Only little 8 inch woofers. Sounds a lot like a Bose except slightly better. Buy a pair of AL-1000s(1000watts) or RE-38s(400watts)from Cerwin Vega or pro audio speakers for the same cost. If you want CS tower 1 quality for less money try some pioneers or kenwoods for a couple hundred, at least they include damping material inside. |

For a company that is well known for its Sub Sat systems, Cambridge Soundworks Tower I at $1500 proves that Audio Hall of Fame member Henry Kloss also Knows how to get fairly accurate sound from a big box as well as small ones. The Towers performed far beyond my expectations at a fairly BUDGET price. While I'm not a fan of bipolar designed speaker I quickly learned to appreciate the open sound they produce. The Bottom end was DEEP and rich without being over done. Midrange was slightly forward while the upper range seemed well pronounced. I listened to a variety of tracks from Coltrane, Parker, Miles Davis, as well as some popular tracks from Shawn Colvin, Paula Cole, Ali's love letters and found the Towers only played 1 step short of phenomenal based on their price and components. Equipment used: Marantz AV600 preamp, Carver 753X amp, Marantz cd63SE CD player, Monster Interlink 400II, Monster XPHP speaker cable. ( also Thorens TD185 /Shure vr15 ). I'm convinced that Henry Kloss is still a master at his craft. NOTE: his new model 88 radio is also INCREDIBLE!I highly recommend the Tower. |

I can't believe these speakers....after first listening u might say "ok" they sound "ok" and expect to hear that they cost around $300 a pair...nope...these things costs $1200 a pair (on sale)...definately not worth it, plus the sound in mediocre at best...avoid at all costs. |

5 stars? 3 stars? 3 stars is being extremely generous. These things are a pile of crap..save your money and get something else. |

I was in the market for mains that would perform the best for my music listening and for home theater. I brought 5 of my own cd's with me into every audio store I could find and ended up liking these speakers the best. I tried the speakers in the same price group by Polk Audio, Boston Accoustics, Infinity's, Bose, DCM and the CS Towers. The CS Towers were by far the best of the group for my tastes. The bipolar design really fills out the sound in my listening room. I like music with a lot of treble and bass and these speakers achieve this for me effortlessly. Movie sountracks are awesome in 5.1 surround sound too. I'm not sure about the specs since Cambridge Soundworks don't give these out. They prefer the customers to make their own desisions without being polluted with, sometimes, worthless numbers. I'm certainly not afraid of blowing these speakers since I got a 10 year warranty with the price. What else can I say? I love them! |
