Strength:

They are massive, loud, they have DEEP bass, they will "wake the dead-shake the livin".

Weakness:

The only thing I am disappointed about is the quality of the box. I would prefer the boxes to be made from real wood. I would also prefer them to have banana plugs for the speaker wire and not these cheap "push down" clips.

OK, this is the best deal you can get. No other speaker can deliver this huge sound for that price. These speakers have everything. They are 3-way, floorstanders, good crossover points, very low bass frequency (30Hz), lots of Watts, very high sensitivity. They are "bad". They can handle everything. If you want to listen to your music LOUD, this is what you are looking for. The sound is also crystal clear even at low volumes.

These are the best speakers i have ever had. It might sound crazy that i paid $5.99 but its true. I picked these up at a yard sale shop, but the speaker was ripped apart, but not beyond repair. So when i got home i took out some duct tape patched up the main speaker and that did the job i plugged them in and they sounded awesome.

Strength:

Pure pumping sound. Very efficent.

Weakness:

I need another pair. So that I can have two pairs.

I have these hooked up to a SoundCraftsmen H-5002 which benched at 500 continious watts per channel(4 ohm) with peaks at 1000 watts and these speakers love it. They are rich in sound and with all the different types of music I listen to, I couldn't find anything sounding better at ten times the price. They don't make these anymore, too bad for you. I've got mine.

Strength:

First Impression: LOUD, REALLY LOUD.
However once the sound is restored to a reasonable level it is crisp, clear and versatile as well. I thought these were all bang but the sound quality is amazing over all genres. Full deep sound.

Weakness:

None. Size may be inconvenient for some.

I am not an audio geek (no offense). I bought these speakers because they were massive, loud, and could handle just about anything. But once I used them for something besides loudspeakers at college parties (and recieved many noise violation fines) I found these to be the best all around speakers I have owned. They deliver clear, accurate, powerful sound.

CV's replaced blown out bose loud speakers. Forget the model of the bose but they were more expensive and could not compete with the Cerwin Vega DX 9

I bought these speaker about 11/2 years ago. I used to work for a consumerelectronics lessor so I had access to many brands of speakers. I chose to use
these as my all around speakers (for my home theatre and for music). These
Vegas play hard and loud. The DX9 are well made with a 15" cast aluminium
framed oversized magnet woofer, a 61/2" mid in its own cyl. enclosure, and a
dome bullet loaded horn tweeter. The cabinet is braced, appropriately stuffed
dual ported out the back, circuit and fused protected, cross over points of 250
and 5000hz (note the low crossover point, the 15"driver almost acts like a
subwoofer), and a sensitivity of 101dbs with only 1 watt!!!!!! Total watts
capablity of 400. As true to any Vegas the low bass is tuned and limited to
30hz. The rated response is 30-20000hz. Some may be disappointed with the
missing 1/2octave, but these speakers play hard to the 30hz regions ( an area
most speakers have already started to roll 3-6dbs by this time.

The sound is lively and open with crisp highs and its associated resonances.
Jewel's "Foolish Games" is just outstanding with its clarity, range, and power.
The strong highs also make it suitable for hometheatre applications. These
speakers when towed in slightly have excellent soundstage, good localization,
and good depth. Do not confuse these speakers with the lesser Vega entries,
the DX9 are tops. Some may see retailers pushing the similar RE series. I had
both of them on hand and even disassembled them. The RE uses a llighter
woofer, slightly different cabinet size, and a cheaper poly foam dome tweeter
with a different crossover points. The sound is uncontrolled, raspy and harsh
compared to the DX9.

Compared to other speakers I have, the DX9 hold their own. When specifically
compared to my JBL studio monitor Century L-100 12" 3way; the JBL have a
tighter bass sound that reaches past 30hz with more authority, the JBL low
mid and mid cannot be touched by any speaker (warm and controlled). The
DX9 had the more open mid and definitely crisper high end. Some may see
the bulk of the DX9 as hindering perceived soundstage because of the large
front speaker baffle in relation to the drivers. Properly aimed this is not a
problem, although the sweet spot may not be as wide. Recommended, but for
pro logic it is better to use smaller sub/sat, for dolby digital you need full range
speaker so the DX9 are needed. Note I also use M&K MX105 push-pull
dual12" powered sub woofer.

Strength:

Damn I don t know where to start really I don t. These speakers are sometimes scary they play so dang loud. They are very sensitive over 100dbs. So you dont need a very large amp. Believe me a large won t hurt em though. Very rich and open sound, soundstage is great just have to turn them in a little. The bass is deep tight and tuned with the 2 ports in the rear. Those highs are very crisp but not raspy. The are a lot of speakers that claim to have wid frequency respose. These vegas are 30hz to 20khz. Where other speaker s tend to roll off these vegas are just getting started. so don t be fooled by speaker specs. you must listen but to bad these are not made anymore the new vegas are good but the parts are not as good the woofer is heavier on the DX9 and they stop unbelieveably quick very quick response. They literally shake my home. The sound great with any type of music especially with good amps.

Weakness:

Not a damn thing. some people say its there size but thats not a weakness thats a benefit thats why the bass is so damn loud. you will make room after you hear them

If you are looking for richness, great soundstage, efficient, deep bass, loud, natural sounds HERE IT IS. actually I love all the vega models I m a dedicated customer I even have a pair of vega s in my accord not the DX9 though. They are great I recommend vega s to anyone that love music and surround sound just buy yourself a good amp though with low resistance speaker wires. Try the E II series by cerwin vega they are close.
