AWESOME BASS!!!
Weakness:
None, other than you can really piss off your neighbors. A friend told me about Cerwin Vega back in 1992, after I blew up my last pair of so-called "loud" speakers. So I went down to the local Sears and bought the DX9's. I had to hire a moving company with a forklift to get them in my house. I hooked them up to a mid 80's Sansui 400 watt amp, put Mettalica (For whom the bell tolls) in the CD player, turned the volume up about half way and hit the play button...The deep thunderous bass and crisp highs that blasted out. I thought I had died and gone to Rock-n-Roll Heaven! I had no idea that any speakers could produce such high quality sound, especially at such a high volume! The range was unbelievable! That was over 15 years ago...They sound just as good today as they did then. Of course, I did have to move out to the country to keep from being arrested for disturbing the peace. BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Weakness:
Home improvements due to pounding caused by the 15s. Warning, these speakers will cause foundation problems and window damage. CV is known for bass and they continue the tradition with the DX9. Movies and music have more chest pounding thump; neighbors don't say hi like they used to. |

The bass has to be the best quality per watt I have found in my years as an enthusiast....I have yet to find a pair rated the same wattage that can pproduce half of the sound felt , heard/experienced. High and mids are crisp.. have yet to come across any chirps , squalls or cracking in over all sound quality. I highly recommend these for those of us/you who enjoy not only hearing your music but feeling it deep within.......
Weakness:
The cabinets have to be the low point of the speakers..I have experienced a lil bit of rattling due to the pounding of the bass at high volumes.. a lil reinforcement internally of the cabinets alleviated the problem for the price... ill give the speakers a 3.5 ..of 5.. gfor the sound ill give them a 5.0 and for the durability.. I'm sorta hard on speakers..lol..ill give them a 5.1 I havent blown them yet..pushing them to the max wattage regularly w an old Marantz amplifies Similar Products Used: Bose accoustimass system...advent prodigy( blew those things..lol) |

Only the most wonderful, warm sound you can imagine. If you have the real estate in your home, get these speakers!!!
Weakness:
If your home is too small for these, then you need a new home..... Everytime I turn on my crappy little Aiwa receiver to listen to my STB (set top box for digital cable) sound, I am B-B-Blown away!! These monsters create bass that is beyond belief for a system costing around $120. Yeah, I've sat through the BOSE little melodrama with the invisible speakers, too, but these mothers make the BOSE system run away with its tail between its legs!

The name.
Weakness:
tweeters sound hornish. woofers well... I bought these speakers from an individual last year.I am moderately empressed with the sound quality. But Iam glad that I can resale them to someone else. The newer CV's must be awful if they are concidered not made like they used to be.I would though keep them if they were my only set of speakers.I guess If you werent to particular about sound these would be ok. |

Good quality
Weakness:
The fuse holder on the back seems to not want to stay latched(poor design) The highs shut off when turned high enough to wake the neighbors....down the street. New recivever these days put all the bass to the powered sub, so these speakers really never get the chance to pound the bass. I purchased these speakers to run with my KenWood KR-V7080 reciever. I was hooked by the size of these things. They do look very impressive in size. And yes they do draw allot of attention from visitors and neighbors. |

Strength:
With duel ported 15's you don't need a seperate sub. Being 6 olm nominal imp. they are extremely efficient and loud loud loud!!-yet VERY articulate.
Weakness:
These suckers are HUGE!! Nearly 4 ft tall and 100 pounds! (but being so big and heavy, they really "connect" with the room) I remember the weeks leading up to my purchase, when I was going to the audio shop almost every day. I kept listening to the Bose, then the Cerwins. I had been brainwashed by the Bose propaganda. My mind did not want to believe what my ears were telling it. The Cerwin Vega DX-9's blew the 901's away! I have had these speakers for over 10 years now, and even after all that time they still impress me. You would not believe the bottom end and articulate mid and high response of these monsters! I have considered over the years replacing them but you can't hold a candle to them for less than $1,000! These speakers have made me a life-long Cerwin Vega loyalist. Cerwin Vega is a positive example of American quality. We (americans)can still make a killer, affordable product. I will never buy any other kind of speaker-ever. Being a musician in a local band, when it came time to purchase a P.A. system, it was Cerwin Vega pro audio all the way. I constantly hear from patrons who come to see us how incredible we sound (just like the cd). I contribute a lot of this to Cerwin Vega's eginuity and obvious pride in quality. These guys are not joking around! (and they didn't pay me to write this) Similar Products Used: Cerwin Vega V-152's Cerwin Vega 18" folded horn subwoofers (can't remember the model number) |

From Bach to Garth to Rammstein....they all sound good on these.
Weakness:
NONE! These speakers can crack yer drywall and knock shingles off the roof with a good amp.....they are also efficient enough to drive with a crappy amp, but ya won't get that punch at high volumes. Oh and as for those cute little, no air movin', wussy, Rubiks cube lookin', way over priced and over-rated, hangin' in the corner where ya can't see 'em (which is to save humiliation) Bose cube peices of crap......these WILL drown them out! Where should I start. They have awsome bass, crisp highs, and they are just so loud. I could never part with these.
Weakness:
None, they're large some say, but that's Braging Rights! I love the DX-9 I bought for 100 bucks. They have awsome range 30-20,000hz and get very loud. I hook them up to an old sansui reciever and It's all I can ask for. Similar Products Used: None |

CABINET IS DATED AND HUGE, BUT I LOVE THE "DAMN!" EFFECT THAT I GET FROM VISITORS BEFORE THERE WAS SUCH A THING AS THE DX9 THERE WAS MX400. THE SAME SPEAKER ARAY BUT WITH A CHEAPER CABINET & LESS SUFISTICATED MIDRANGE. THE PLUS WAS A 6" DEEPER CABINET & 107DB SENS. THE RESULT WAS "DAMN" AND STILLL IS. I BOUGHT THEM IN 87 AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE A DEDICATED SONY DAVS SYSTEM FOR CINEMA THE VEGAS STILL REMAIN MY FRONT END SET UP FOR MY LIVING ROOM SYSTEM, 5.1 CAPABLE BUT USED MAINLY FOR MUSIC AND KILLING NIEGHBORS. ONLY UPDATE IS 10" KLIPSCH SUB AND NOTHING I HAVE HEARD IN ANYONES HOME COMES CLOSE. DRIVEN BY SONY ES AT 310W AND VIEWING 32" FLOOR STANDING TRINITRON OF THE SAME ERA, AND BACKED BY A CHEAP KENWOOD SAT AND SUB SYSTEM FOR THE REARS. DINOSAURS AND HELICOPTORS LIVE IN MY LIVING ROOM. WHEN I WANT 300" LCD MOVIES POWERED BY SONY DAVS500 I GO TO THE CONVERTED DINNING ROOM CINEMA. WHEN I WANT TO REMEMBER THAT I AM THE BADDEST MO-FO IN THE VALLEY THE CHOICE IS CERWIN VEGA FOR SURE!!! Similar Products Used: NOTHING REALLY NOWADAYS, KLIPSCH HORNS BACK IN THE DAY BUT THEY WERE MUCH BIGGER, NOT MUCH BETTER. |
