Strength:
Good clean bass, reasonable highs, classic cerwin vega look
Weakness:
None I have always been a Cerwin man, ever since I bought my set of XL-12's (Red Surround) for my car no other speaker could compare to both the price and the sound. I bought the E-312's (712's now in Canada) and hooked them up to my NAD 2600 Power Envelope & NAD 1300 pre amp. All I have to say is that these speakers thump, especially if you have enough power to them. |

Strength:
Nice looking, good quality music
Weakness:
Build quality is poor I got these speakers thinking they would be good to compliment my Cerwin Vega 200-watt 15" sub. I was wrong. These speakers are nice, and they have nice bass. . .but they bottom out when I turn my volume to 1/4, and this is a 80-watt receiver! And for 2 12" speakers, my 1 15" can give out A LOT more bass than these 2 speakers together. If you have a good sub, I don't recommend getting these for the bass (too much $ and doesn't get near loud enough). Buy them if you don't have a sub and want some decent front speakers. The price is kinda high, so get them if they're your first 'serious' speaker. I was disappointed when I heard the bass output on these. They're rattle the windows and all that but don't expect to get spasms like a good sub can do. So get these if you don't have a decent sub. Not worth the $350+ if you already have good bass from your sub. |

See below The fact is MR "I live in a MAINE Tralor park", Cerwin-Vega makes a GREAT speaker *for the money*. No I don't have E-312's but I do have the very similar LS-12's and their being pushed by a Bryston 4B-ST(they don't sell them at Walmart so don't bother looking) and Yamaha receiver/pre-amp and they sound pretty damn nice, and YES I will upgrade when I get the money but I'm in no hurry at all. You can't compare a $350 speaker to a $3500 speaker dumb ass. Just because your the first person in Maine to figure out life after bose doesn't mean you have to act like a prick about it ya damn inbreeder. Similar Products Used: Paradigm, Mirage, PSB... |

Bass
Weakness:
Midrange crackles after its broken in. tweeter volume drops out after conintuous use I had these speakers for a little less than a year. at first, they were my first home stereo/theater components. i had a shelf system receiver hooked up to them. then i moved to the sony de835 then the sony db830 and i still have that. these speakers were....loud i guess is the best way to describe them. bass was incredibly loud, and powerful. then, one day while listenin to kid rock, i realized how the midrange drivers crackled every time the subs bumped. after a while, i got tired of it and brought them back and got the E-712's. after about 40 hours of listening, the same thin happened. i lived with it for a while then finally got rid of them and moved up to some MB Quart QL-C200's and a D1200SL sub. im glad i got rid of the Vega's. they were just terrible for sound quality, but good to impress people that came over for parties. but my Quart's impress them more and sound better so i will never go back to CV. Similar Products Used: E-712 (sent those back too. same problems) |

are you kidding me? i love these speakers and so does my neighborhood! The police are envious when the bust our parties up. Roll Tide
Weakness:
there is a buzzing sound at a low volume but this could be my reciever or the massive amounts of cables and speaker wire that is thrown behind my entertainment center. i settled for these vegas because i wanted some infiniti speakers. thank God infiniti speakers are more expensive because i stumbled upon these vegas and they rock the house. i wouldn't trade these for anything. roll tide! |

Strength:
Bass (of course), great sound with little power.
Weakness:
More concentrated in the woofer design, tweater needs improving When I was looking for speakers I wanted bass - and I got it. They were the first speakers I have purchaced, and am impressed with there performance. I don't recomend these speakers if you listen to easy music, but if your a bass fanatic and you listen to house, dance, rap, ect, you'll love these!! The louder they are, the better they sound... just respect other people's ears. |

Strength:
Strong, good sound and sensitivity.
Weakness:
Well they can't handle the power from my NAD 218 THX. I think they sound really good. But they need a wery strong amp to have good control. They are cheep and i don't think you will get more by a speaker in this price range. Similar Products Used: Why??? |

Bass.
Weakness:
What....Weakness? Not with these speakers. I bought these speakers in the fall of '99 to replace the old pair of pioneer 12" speakers I had previously been using to mix records with in my studio. I also found a little gem tucked away in a pawn shop, a HarmonKardon a/v reciever in almost new shape for 45 bucks. I came home and plugged in the new set up and instantly fell in love. The bass could be heard down the street and the highs are clear enough to still allow me to use them as monitors when mixing. I loved them so much, I ran everything in the house through those speakers...TV, DVD, VHS, PS2, and computer. I've moved several times since then, and they're pretty much the only thing I refuse to give up. If there was a fire, they'd be one of the first things I grabbed....(well, aside from my vinyl.....) Similar Products Used: Nothing I've owned compares. |

Strength:
Awesome bottom end. Extremely accurate, overload protection for tweeters, extremely efficient.
Weakness:
None known, other than I not a big fan of black cabinets, would have rather had oak, but it was'nt offered. I honestly think for the money there is no way in hell that your going to beat them. I have had Bose, Acoustic Research, these Vegas and the sound is unreal. I use a Carver CT 17 tuner/preamp with a Carver TFM 35 amp at 250 W/CH and the sound that you get from these speakers is unbelieveable. Pop in some Springsteen on a live album, turn the Sonic Holography on and you might as well be there on stage standing beside Clarance Clemmons himself! Similar Products Used: Used to have a set of Acoustic Research TW 510's, only problem with those is that they did not like my Carver TFM 35 at all, LOL |
