Strength:

Bass, clarity, power handling. To make up for other low ratings, I give these 5 instead of 4 stars.

Weakness:

A BIT muddy, power hungry, heavy.

Others state in some reviews basically that Cerwin Vegas are just good at playing loud volumes. Sound stage and presence are lacking etc . . . Its been stated that these should not recieve high ratings. Well what these reviews failed to mention is that these reviews aren't always FOR "audiophiles" A major portion of the market is searching for the mid class speaker that delivers what it promises. If someone has 750-1000 dollars to spend, the Cerwin Vega is a perfect match. Not everyone listens so jazz, classical, live performances, and SACD. My neighbor owns a pair of these and the one time I listened to them was literally blown away. The music that people listen to that these are aimed at work very well matched with a nice high power or high current reciever. The reviews are RELATIVE. They are done by people that thought these would perform, and got (or didn't) what they wanted. Please, take into consideration more than just "sonic quality" presence, staging, etc. Consider value and everyday performance. These are some of the best sounding speakers in their price range I have heard. I heard some Legacy Audio's at Ovation, but thats not a fair comparison. Anyway, my LS-12's are perfect for me and a majority of the people in this shopping range.

Strength:

Awesome bass, high sensitivity, great for music with lots of bass.

Weakness:

Needs a high power amp for best results. Heavy!

Great all around speaker with awesome bass response, and very clear highs as well as mids. Very high sensitivity, means that even a little amp can produce big sound.

Weakness:

the only weekness of cerwin vega currently is the fact that JBL and cerwin vega have now joined forces, so but what you can because JBL if they are stupid will destroy the cerwin vega brand.

i read a review stating that speakers by cerwin vega basicly as he put it "suck." i think that is pretty harsh afterall cerwin vega is a pioneer of stereo products. in the review he said the imaging is not that good and that is false. currently i am running two cerwin vega DX-7's, two Cerwin Vega DX-3's and 4 piezo tweeters running through a Harmon Kardon 690i reciever. the imaging is incredible. even at low volume i get the "float" sensation where nothing is out of sink and the sound is soothing. cirwin vega will always hold the upper hand in concert stereo, home audio, and mobile audio. even RBH, and JBL have to give respect. i have put on concerts myself at schools and other partys that have lasted for up to 3 days, and they will play all day and all nigh. wether it is funk, acoustic, rap, rock, country, techno or whatever, cirwin vega will always just stand up and say bring it on.

I recently purchased the E-715's the 15" subs. However, I need to know what kind of amplifier that could make this subs knock pictures off the walls. Basically I need more power. Do you have any suggestions. Please reply asap!!!

Strength:

The Huge and High quality 15" woofer. And the perfect midrange and tweeter to match. And the large cabinet, because that's how a real speaker is suppossed to look.

Weakness:

None!

One word to describe these speakers, "Unreal." These speakers are what speakers are suppossed to be. These aren't just your average speaker, these are the real deal. I can think back to when I first saw these speakers, it was back in the summer of 1999. I'm the kind of person who loves to upgrade my speakers every so often. It just seemed like every speaker that I thought that I would be happy with, before I knew it, I would catch myself trying to convince my friends to by them. But when I came across the E-715's, that was it, I was in love. See what bothers me of the speakers of today is that they try to fit several little speakers into a small cabinet and expect it to do the job of what something like the Cerwin Vega's can do. I'm sorry it's just not possible. These are one of the only pairs of speakers that I know that you don't need a subwoofer to bring the bass to life. I've owned these speakers now for three years, and for the first time, I catch myself not wanting to upgrade to anything. Because as far as I'm concerned, there is no upgrading from the Cerwin Vega E-715's. Think about it, a "Home Speaker" that can handle up to 400 watts. A "True" 400 watts. How many home speakers that you know can handle that? These speakers are so good that they can be amplified with a separate amp. I still have not yet found a receiver powerful enough for these bad boys. I have a pretty good receiver that has a built-in equalizer, and I even hooked up a separate equalizer, and they hit, they don't distort, and you can tell that they are hungry for more power. Simply put, the Cerwin-Vega E-715's are in a class by itself, a one of a kind. And just one more word for those who care, if you own these great speakers, do yourself a favor, do not get rid of these, I know I never will. They don't make speakers like these anymore.

Strength:

Very loud and great sensitivity(102db)also quite good mid bass(for a 15"),i also love the cabinets.much more sexy than my girl

Weakness:

Only one and that is the tweeter cut out point was lower than what i expected,my amp is is only 120w/per Channel into 8 ohms(Technics SU-V90D),but in saying this the volume level was hurting both mine and my fathers ears(with no distortion]and my father is a retired sound engineer

Fell in love the first time i looked at these speakers and now have the pleasure of there company in my sitting room,i already had 15" 3 ways so i have become accustomed to the rich bass provided by such sized drivers[i also have a set of mordaunt short 5.30 speakers that i use for mids and highs only].I am so happy with the Cerwin Vegas that i have invited all my friends around for a listen and cant wait to see there faces when i play a track for them.Simply fantastic and sooooo loud and clear
