Strength:
SWEET BASS
Weakness:
None This speakers are SWEET!!! You get thundering bass from the 12 inch sub woofers. Very good bass, plus it hits the high notes well. I would tell anyone that is interested in buying speakers, that the Cerwin Vegas LS 12 is the way to go. |

Everything
Weakness:
nothing These speakers in my opinion are awesome. Now many of you have complaints but like someone mentioned earlier you will get the best from these speakers with a high current reciever. Technics, pioneer etc..(Pioneer Elite Series is a different story) are not high curent recievers/amplifiers. I use these speakers for music and home theatre. All my speakers are Cerwin Vega. front l/r: LS-12, Center: CV E-76c, 4 rear speakers: 2 are Cerwin Vega E-706, the other 2 are Cerwin Vega E-76c, Then 2 subs: CV HT-S10 and CV LW 12. All powered with a Denon AVR-3802. Earth shattering? you better believe it. The ls-12's are great speakers. they may not be the best in the world but we're not all rich but for the price of the ls-12's it's a steal. They have never blown on me, distorted or anything bad. If you are looking for great speakers at a good proce I highly reccomend the LS-12's, but you would be much beter off with a high quality reciever.. Not technichs or panasonic or sony or RCA or some other low end crap.. something like Denon, harmon kardon, Pioneer Elite series recievers... |

Strength:
loud, good sound quality, looks good, does not distort at moderately high volume levels
Weakness:
takes a lot of power to get the woofer moving. I bought these speakers new from best buy about 2 years ago. i first used them as regular stereo speakers. they are fantastic for sound quality at loud volume levels but you need a quality amp to hear how good they sound when pumped. people can say what they want to about cv but they do not distort at high levels until you push them to the point where your eardrums are about to burst. i am now using them as my front l/r in a 7.1 surround system using a denon amp. i have just recently realized how good they are for people who listen to movies at volume levels that would blow out most speakers. the ls-12 provides louder, higher quality, tighter bass than speakers that cost twice as much as it does. for about 200 dollars a speaker, they are a steal. |

Strength:
Deep bass, great mids and highs. Never falter, EVER!
Weakness:
None whatsoever. I was lucky enough to find these beauties as an open box special at the Plymouth Meeting location for Best Buy! After not being able to find any service, I went and got a ladder and climbed up to the top shelf to get the speakers down for myself. Someone came over and yelled at me, but I suggested he go get the manager if he had an issue with helping myself. Instead, he pointed me to another sales rep who sold me the set for $275 with a 4 year warrenty from Cerwin Vega and another 5 years ONTOP of that from Best Buy. You can't beat this deal! These speakers have never faltered, hitting deep, booming lows, and squeeling highs. The midrange sound is excellent, and when fed 100 watts apiece from my Kenwood VR-507 receiver, it's simply beautiful. Need L & R channel speakers? The LS-12's are what you're looking for! Thunderous bass and wonderful mids/highs
Weakness:
Nothing!! I found these jewels at Best Buy as an open box buy. They seemed good for the price so I purchased them. I plugged them up at home and BOOM! I was amazed by the thunderous bass that the 12" woofer pounded out. The mids and highs are great and at some times can be a bit overpowering. (with high guitar riffs) I own a pair of the legendary Cerwin Vega D-9''s and these sound exactly like them. Even though the D-9''s have a 15 inch sub there is almost no difference at all. I recommend these to anyone who loves great sound without going bankrupt. Similar Products Used: Cerwin Vega D-9''s, Bose Acoustimass 5, JBL 10" towers. |

BASS, BASS, BASS! Sleek design, great value.
Weakness:
Needs a little treble boost, big speakers are hard to move around, fuse may need to be heavier, neighbours may end up hating me LOL! Since this is my first pair of speakers over $100, I must say that these blew me away. It''''s true what everyone else is saying, the bass (can) heavily outweigh the treble on these so they''''re more so party speakers than home theatre or professional studio speakers. My receiver is 100w/ch and i can turn up the volume to full (with the treble turned down) and I can''''t even distort the things. They eat up every watt you can throw at them. I heard the fuse should be a bit heavier than the current one but I''''ve had no problems with it to date. You should use heavy speaker wire with them though. I use 14 gauge Monster Cable and it works great. I love the dual ports on the back; they give out some DEEP bass, almost eliminating the need for a subwoofer on your system. Overall they''''re an EXCELLENT value. You get much more than you pay for here. Similar Products Used: RCA, KLH, Pioneer, Sony, Radio Shack. |

Great Bass, Not too big, Great Sound, Unbelievable price!
Weakness:
Could use a little better tweeter but is still better than most I''ve heard. I''m comparing this to a $100 Swiss made tweeter that I''ve had for about 20 years. Wow, these are really great speakers for the money!!!!! I wasn''t really looking but when I found these for $99 each, I couldn''t resist. I am really glad that I didn''t resist, these sound Great. Merrit at Best Buy was really cool in locating the pair for me at this price.....Thanks! Similar Products Used: Boston Accoustics, JBL, etc....... |

Strength:
BASS!!!!! Almost unbelievable with a good amp (200 watt rms+) Excellent price for what you''re getting
Weakness:
not worth getting w/out adequate power. the mids/highs not the best(but acceptable with this price) This is an outstanding value for those who want speakers that can pound for a good price. I was uing them with a 100w/channel reciever(not impressive/lack of juice) but now I''m using a Yamaha M-80 amp :) paired with a Yamaha C-60 preamp that puts out 250 watts rms to each speaker and the sound is just amazing. With this setup I run the preamp nearly flat and just turn up the volume. Because of the sensitivity of the speakers the bass will kick even when the preamp is flat. As far as sheer amount of bass this speaker will put to shame any other speaker in the price range. these things will handle any reciever that isn''t like $5000 no sweat. I will admit that the sound quality isn''t the best(darn good though), and I have blown one woofer(my own fault for putting the M-80 to them), but the person who likes movies and bass-heavy rock, rap, and dance music will love these babies. ALSO: wait for a sale at best buy and GET THE WARRANTY for about normal price. Similar Products Used: Sony, Acoustic Research(nice, more $), Bose, Aiwa crap, KLH |

Strength:
Nice overall sound, substantial bass, strong speaker overall.
Weakness:
cheesy red foam surrounds and plastic like tweeter and midrange Best Buy had these speakers listed for 199.99 per speaker. I thought that seemed like a good price for a speaker that could hit 28 hz without a built in amp. I dont listen to jiggaboo rap or hardcore trance, i''m more of an Elvis Presley kinda guy. And i''m not an old man, i''m 20. These speakers sound good, not great. They''re not gonna make you blow a wad when you listen to them, but you should enjoy them, I know I do. I have them hooked up to my Marantz 2238, a 1977 solid state receiver with 75 wpc/rms. It drives them nicely. It''s worth the investment certainly, as you''ll only get marginally better speakers up the road for a much higher pricetag. You gotta get up to the Paradigm S-100 range before you''ll outperform these big 3-ways. Similar Products Used: Baby Advents (1977 model 40-20,000 HZ) |
