I purchased my RE30s from BEST BUY FOR $4OO,and for the price, they have a lot to offer in terms of bass quality and and overall sound quality IF DRIVEN WITH A GOOD HIGH CURRENT AMPLIFIER, I have had great results with a NAKAMICHI AV400 reciever, enjoying deep, clear, tight bass down to about 25 hz or so. Also, I think it's advisable to drive these speakers flat, no bass or treble boost. They excell at reproducing all typical popular music, such as rock, country, rap, etc, but they are not the best choice for chamber music or small classical ensamble music. Build quality is great overall for the price, especially the woofer and cabinet construction. The midrange unit and tweeter are not at all as well made as the rest of the system, but nevertheless sound pretty musical anyway. Sound quality on MOVIES, now, is nothing short of awesome, with crystal clear dialoge and stunning bass. As for imaging, they work better for movies and pop music than classical orchestra audiophile type recordings. Overall though, there are no speakers for the money, or twice, for that matter, that outperform these california built babies PERIOD.

These are the best speakers available for under $2000/pair. People complaining about them are probably not providing them with enough power. They require AT LEAST 80 watts per channel to sound good. As for too much bass: turn your bass down. What a concept! Every time someone comes over and hears mine, they are simply amazed. All they can talk about is how they are the most amazing speakers they have ever heard and how their Bose/Kenwood/Pioneer/DCM/etc. do not even compare in powerful sound or quality. Those who rag on these are just showing their ignorance and bias.

I recently purchased a pair of these Vega's and they blew me away. I actually cracked a window in my house while jamming to some heavy bass. I definitely recommend these to anyone who wants to feel as well as hear their music

WOW! What took me soo long. Four sets of different speakers (from Pioneer to JBL) and I finally found these Vegas. Now I finally have all the base I want and without loosing that SNAP of the SNARE mid-range. Plus the highs are crisp. I listen to everything From GEORGE BENSON to LED ZEPPELIN and these dudes are AWESOME!! (SORRY no C&W here).

Wanna watch a movie, go ahead they're great for this too (although I did thow on a powered sub for those hollywood sound effects - BUT YOU DONT NEED IT!!).

Sure, I've heard speakers that sounded this good before, for over $800/each, But not this good for the $199/each I gave for these (BESTBUY).

These are some bumpin speakers. I think that they are a must for anyone who loves to feel their music and who loves to play it loud. Cerwin-Vega! is the top recommendation that I can make for BASS bumpin speakers!!!!

Strength:

Deep Bass, good value, style

Weakness:

Some might appreciate more clarity, articulation, cleaner sound...I do.

I have had these speakers for over four years now. They have served me well. If you are the average Joe who is after a good speaker at a moderate price, you might want to try this one. They play loud and clear for what you pay for (250-400 bucks). And if you want the bass, you will probably love them.

However, if you are willing to spend a couple hundred more, do some shopping, especially if it is the whole quality of sound you are after. I have learned that there are some speakers out there that can put my CV 30's to shame for price ranges around 500-600$ (Klipsch RF-3's for example).

Still, this speaker is a great start and service a certain target audience very well.

Strength:

great bass, and lots of necessary sound

Weakness:

few and far between

These speakers are great. They provide awesome sound, great for all styles of music and for home theater use also. The bass that these speakers produce make a sub, almost unnecessary. These speakers are great for someone that wants great sound, but does not have a fortune to spend. Deffinitely the most bang for your buck. They are also very visually appealing, which is very important since these speakers become part of your furniture. Although this product line is no longer in production, if you have the chance to purchase some, you should jump on the chance.

Strength:

Great Clarity and Tone, high and low

Weakness:

To hear these speakers the way they were meant to be heard,
a pretty powerful amp is necessary.

I bought these speakers as secondaries for my basment. I used them with a straight Dolby Pro Logic Reciever (nakamichi). I found that when paired with any straight 2 channel system (minus amp) the bass can be somewhat overwhelming. I then bought a Pioneer PA_5083 amplifier (300w max) , and thats when these speakers really sang. When mached correctly these speakers are crisp as frosted flakes.
