Strength:

-Loud & decent sound quality -Cheap to buy now -Good construction -Fuse protected

Weakness:

-Can't bi-amp -Not powered by recievers very well -Shaking your/room house apart -Dealing with the police

As most have said, these speakers excel at making very, very loud music. If you're planning on playing bass heavy music for hours on end, these pack one hell of a punch for the buck.

Strength:

Power, Bass, Midrange, and decent tweeters. Good speaker for the price. Solid quality and great customer service.

Weakness:

None.

This is one powerful speaker. Its bass is so strong and clean that I have not had the need for a subwoofer in my system. Its highs are pretty decent as well. Great main speakers.

Strength:

-Bass, bass, and more bass ! -Decent tonal midrange and vocal quality -Clear highs -Attractive ,expensive, and classy or retro looking cabinet -Did I mention bass !

Weakness:

-Heavy cabinets (so, what the trade off is in the sound) -This particular cabinet color seems to have been phased out of the newer Cerwin Vega speaker line in lieu of the more common and dull black laminate look !

I have had these speakers for a little over 6 years and have used them for music and video applications. The bass is beautiful, the mids are clear, and the highs are somewhat bright. But so what ? Cerwin Vegas have a reputation (and an excellent one at that) for producing loud sound without sounding cheap or price gouging the consumer! The cherry wood cabinetry also gives these units a classy and solid look. While they may not rival the upper echelon or exclusive brands like Vandersteen, Martin Logan or even the Infinity Intermezzo line, these are remarkable for the sound quality, impeccable build, and their outstanding longevity. I have ran these on a ten year old 70 watt receiver and most recently with a 100 watt THX certified, Dolby Digital EX, DTS ES receiver and they sound even more magnificent. So, yes for bass and bang they do the job. For critical audiophile listening of classical music or jazz the Cerwins would be too harsh in those departments ! Long live C.V. !

Strength:

Fused, Loud, unmatched bass performance

Weakness:

Clarity. Have moved 6 or 7 times and don''t think my back can take an eighth!

Surprised to low ratings for this speaker!! Hope people don''t buy Cerwin Vega for clarity. These speakers made a college party...rap, dance, bass...they don''t get much louder with the proper amp! No better speaker if this is what you are looking for.

Strength:

Gread Bass out-put, (as of any speaker produced by Cerwin Vega).

Weakness:

Distortion may occur when running at a high volume. Mainly the mids.

I have used these speakers in my house for music listening purposes. I then used them for my surrond sound system. I have also used these speakers to DJ parties. I have only blow the fuse twice, and I have never taken them in for repairs. After 4 years they still sound the same as when I first purchased them. I would have to say that these are the best speakers by far, and I think that when I am ready to purchase another pair of speakers, it will be the newer models of Cerwin Vegas.

I have tried several different speakers from local stores, and have returned every one except the Cerwin Vega RE 30 series. They are priced perfectly for the performance you get.

Strength:

Great Bass. Handles larger amps.

Weakness:

mids are a little tinny but sound good if you have an amp with an EQ that lets you tone them down.

I bought mine at Best Buy in 96 for around $150. I think it was a mistake because I don't seem them below $225. I bought a pair, my brother bought a pair and we bought a pair for my dad for his birthday. We all have different high power amps and they sound awesome. I have read some reviews on people saying that they don't sound good at all. I think these people need to learn how to EQ their systems. These speakers are made for high power amps. I currently have an older 500 watt technics amp. I can crank the thing and shake my wife's ornaments off the shelves. For those who say the bass sound muddy they need to turn the bass down. I haven't had any distortion from them and the high's are crisp and clear. I have mixed for bands and have been known for how well I can get things to sound and I know that these sound good.

Strength:

Loud as heck, good power handling

Weakness:

woofer can move a little too much for me, turn down bass

These are the best speakers i have purchased. Definitly worth the $600(CDN) i paid for the pair. Powered with a JVC RX-818V that does a good job powering and has an eq to turn down the bass a bit at high volumes. looks like the woofers wanna jump out on the floor =)

i would rather go for a set of RE 38's or LS 15's, but money and space constraints currently limit me to 12 inch woofers.

Definitly a good speaker at a good price.

Strength:

Loud, No distortion at high volume, great bass

Weakness:

none so far

These speakers can be sumed up very easily. They are the most bang for the buck. These are great party speakers for anyone who likes to listen to music or movies at a high volume. As stated earlier, the reasons for others having difficulty with their RE30 consist of their receiver not having an impedence that allows them to be played at 4 ohms. I was really surprised at how distortion free they are and that by getting the RE30, I did not have to spend any extra money on a sub.
Before I purchased the RE30, I owned a pair of Bose speakers which did not last more than 6 months. They just can not handle anything at high volume like Cerwin Vega can.

Speakers are very heavy. 4 Ohms needs powerful amp.
