Strength:
Outstanding bass Resilient
Weakness:
Mid range did go out after 4 yrs... no surprise at the volumes I was using though I bought these speakers off the Circuit City show room floor several years ago now and have never been happier with any other purchase. Other friends of mine bought different speakers of similar price and they lasted maybe 1 1/2 years with quality sound and quality dropped precipitously after that. These Vegas have stayed with me for 5 years and have never let me down.... I've never known anyone to have the cops show up for noise complaints more than I have :) - If you get a chance to buy these do it! Similar Products Used: JBL's, Polk, DCM - all crap in comparison |

MIXED WITH THE CORRECT AUDIO EQUPMENT THEY SING A LOVELY SONG, BUT IN THE END ITS ALL DOWN TO YOU'RE CHOICE AND LISTENING PREFERENCES, THESE SPEAKERS ARE NOT FOR THE TONE DEAF MIXED WITH THE WRONG AUDIO SOURCES THEY CAN AND WILL SOUND VERY HARSH, ALTHOUGH THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT SEEM TO RECOMMEND THEM ARE BASS JUNKIES OF WHITCH I AM ONE AS I SAY GET THE MIX CORRECT AND THEY DO SING A LOVELY SONG.
Weakness:
TONE DEAF PEOPLE NEIGHBOURS THE WRONG AUDIO EQUIPMENT I HAVE HAD MY CERWINS ABOUT 3 YEARS NOW, AND ALL I CAN SAY IF YOU SPEND ENOUGH TIME AND MONEY IN MATCHING YOU'RE COMPONENTS YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. THE CERWIN VS 120 HAVE GOT EOUGH GOING ON IN THEM TO PUT A LOT OF AUDIO RIVALS TO SHAME, I HAVE GOT A GOOD COMBINATION GOING WITH MY SET UP AMPLIFICATION I AM USING THE SONY STR DB 1080 DVD CD SACD I AM USING AGAIN SONY SONY DVP NS900V I HAVE GOT IT WRIGHT IN MY EARS THE SOUND IS TOTALY OUTSTANDING WITHOUT THE USE OF EQUALISER, JUST ON PURETONE, THE BASS IS WHERE IT SHOULD BE AT THE BACK WITH THE OCCASIONAL RIPPLING TO THE FOR GROUND BUT NOT OVER INHANSING. THE TWEETERS FLUTTER AWAY LIKE A BUTTERFLY AROUND YOU'RE HEAD, WITHOUT ANNOYING YOU. THE MIDS INHANSE ALL OF THIS BY PUTTING THE VOCALIST OR MID BAND INSTRUMENTS TO THE FRONT OF THE MUSIC MAKING QUITE A DELECTABLE SOUND AS IF THE VOCALIST IS SITTING ON YOU'RE LAP WHISPERING IN YOU'RE EAR MAKING FOR QUITE AN INTICING SOUND ALLROUND, CD ALBUM ( NORAH JONES ) Similar Products Used: CERWIN VEGA VS 120 FRONT CERWIN VEGA E-706 REAR CERWIN VEGA E-76C CENTRE SONY STR-DB-1080 AMP RECIEVER SONY DVP-NS900V DVD SACD CD QED INTERCONNECTS ALLROUND |

Extremly deep hard bass. Good party speakers. If u dont like your neighboors this is the ultimate torture!
Weakness:
No the most well playing speaker i`ve heard. Must have a big amp to controll them. Midrange a little to hard. I`ve had my vs 12 for many years now. I`ve was about 2 sell them to get something bigger once uppon a time, but i didn`t. Today i`m glad i didn`t sell them. They still rocks the house. If u have a big living room and a great amp. around 100w @ 8 ohm they will play extremly well. At first i had an denon 915r amp. It delivered 2*80 watt @8ohm. When i bought them i belived it was big enuff to deliver max spl. But i have used them with much bigger and better ams and they play much better and louder. Now i use the denon 1315r @115watt@ohm---i will never sell this babys Similar Products Used: Dc 12, paradigm, jamo d 265 and 365, snell, dali and a lot of other thing |

Strength:
Bass, force, clarity in the highs and mids, your windows will go before these do. Give a good full sound only a full-range speaker offers. Not bad looking. Just a blast to have.
Weakness:
Highs and mids a bit harsh/bright - so a warm receiver is good - maybe a Marantz or Denon. Um...that I didn't get some in college and enjoy all this music all these years... I am really surprised. All the reviews I read on here about how bad highs and mids were. When I was first hooked them up (after buying them off this cool chick for nothing), there was Elton John on the radio. Man - they sounded really clear. I was shocked. I knew Cerwins were rockers but expected highs and mids to be crap. Then I took all breakables off my shelf and cranked them... Man!!! These things are just insane! It was scary...the force of these things was so strong. Ya know, there is just no substitute for a full size speaker. There was so much music coming out of these things. And you wouldn't believe it - I was hearing things in my music that I hadn't. I think that these just present so much, it brings out things like backing vocals and people turning pages and fingers on strings. Granted, I'm running them on a late 80's Onkyo. It's a good receiver - 60 wpc and really clear - but we're not talking high end here. And I've been running some PSB's - not lousy speakers. Anyway, they were a bit boomy, so I did something crazy - I turned down the bass a bit on my receiver. Duh. Then they were fine - good force and punch and not too boomy. These things are just flat out fun. Great to crank away and not worry about blowing them. I recommend a good receiver - something with a little warmth to it - cuz these are a little bright in the highs and mids. But clear as a bell. Guess what, there's more than just rap and rock that wants good bass response. Classical music, with huge symphanies and choruses, those need the lows. Tympanis, bass drums, stringed basses, all that is low and has force. I cranked Verdi's Requiem w/my roomate (she used to sing in those big choruses) and we were just floored at the force and power these things presented. When all hell broke loose, always does in a Requiem, it was just thunderous. Scared me sh*tless. Basically that's how it feels when you see it live. I swear - just try it once. If nothing else it will really mess w/your neighbors. "Cranking WHAT crap?? You callin Verdi's Requiem CRAP?!!" I'm not an audiophile, I'm a music lover. Screw having to buy a sub and matching. Get a pair of these and you have 2 woofers and (2 enclosures) which is how its supposed to be. And when I want imaging, soundstage etc. - I have something called a Second Pair of Speakers (PSB's used for $70). Yeah I know, friggin rocket science. Of course, there are better full ranges. But these do give you a BIG idea of the music that is out there. Then you can go from there. 5 for doing what they're built to do and being better than I imagined (which is what a 5 rating actually means). Enough said. Happy cranking everyone... Similar Products Used: Not similar but - back of the van 3 ways, PSB's (good for night listening and smoother stuff), Celestion Ditton 100s, and some RSL's. |

BASS!!! Good strong cabinet, good looks.
Weakness:
The complaining neighbors!! If you want some serious bass, these speakers are what youve been looking for. I use mine with a Technics Receiver, Kenwood EQ,and let me tell you, these things rock! They even sound great in Dolby Pro-logic mode. Makes the movies really come to life. Ive read you guys saying that the highs and mids are bad, but mine are just fine. I'll never get rid of these. I'm even thinking ofgetting the 15's, then we'll really talk BASS!! Similar Products Used: Cant even compare these to any other speakers. |
