Strength:

Even Smooth sound.

Weakness:

It rattles my window panes and walls. Things on the shelf in the bathroom have a habit of falling off when I am crankin'' it. could be louder(then again I Have it turned down to blend in with my right and left speakers, which have 15" woofers)

When I got it, one of the screw heads on the back of the amplifier was broken off. Using weather stripping I took away the rattle of the back panel. I also used weather stripping to surrond around the speaker cone between the speaker and the box to seal it. It performed alright, but I was dissapointed. I noticed how well the box was constructed to decrease resonation. I then put damping all oround the inside of the box and sprayed teh cone and surround with a protective silicone spray. It''s sound quality increased I would say around 300%! Now it has a nice, full rich sound which I could not believe I purchased for $225. It sounds better than any D-box you can buy now brand new. Mine is a 12" 300 watt subwoofer, and because of all the adjustments on the back panel, I''ve been able to exactly blend it in with my rather large sound system. The damping also increased it''s volume. I recommend anyone with any speaker dampens it for improvement on the fidelity of sound.

Strength:

Bass Bass tight Bass, and lots of it.

Weakness:

None!

Buy this sub!!! There is no equal at even twice the price. Don''t fall for the hype or marketing telling you to buy this or that, use your ears and realize this is the best sub for under $1000.00 period. I spent countless hour auditioning subs from Velodyne, M&K, Sunefire, Etc. There is none better, only more expensive. If paying more money for a name makes you happy then go waste your cash! If acurate bass for music and movies makes you happy, then buy the David 302, and spend the money you saved on CD''s. Mate the sub with a pair of Paradigm Mini Monitors, and sit back and listen to the best money can buy for under $2000.00.

Strength:

Solid, powerfull, cheap

Weakness:

didn''t go quite low enough

I have to admit i''m new to subs. I''ve got a Dennon avr-1802 reciever and Bostons all around. I went to Futureshop and told them to give me their best sub fully intending to return it before 30 days. They sold me a Velodyne CHT-120 i think. It was $650. Then i took it back and got the Dbox from Costco. I think the Dbox was better for music and explosions, but it didn''t hit the low rumbles like the Velodyne. I''m pretty happy with the Dbox especially at that price, but i do miss the low rumbles like the avalanche in the movie Vertical Limit. I probably wouldn''t have noticed if i didn''t hear the velodyne first.

Strength:

Price, price and sound

Weakness:

None at its price point

Having recently moved, I had to give up my Mirage M3si's and adopt a bass shy, but otherwise very good bookshelf speaker(Royd). The D-Box was bought on a whim, but not without having done some research, including the reviews herein. Price Club doesn't seem to have audition Rooms. My best advice is to listen, at home, with your own ears. I have my system fronted with Sonic Frontiers pre-amp, Bryston Amp, Sonic Frontiers Cd and Linn LP12 turtable. The D Box is thus getting a credible input: it is also providing credible output.

To be frank, I think bass response/sound is either there or it's missing: there are few of the quality gradations that one hears from middle and upper frequencies. If the source material includes well recorded bass, it will be there. If the source was wooly, well nothing's going to resolve that. As best I can hear, D Box delivers - at least in my room. It is hardly being stressed - the room is only 15x13x8, and I endeavour to integrate the sound into the picture, not overwhelm with bass.

If you buy with your ears and aren't afraid to stand by your own judgement, this $300 box will reward you with some good sound and a much fatter wallet.

Strength:

a 12inch woofer for only $300. Not to mention its clean and well defined bass, youd expect from subs costing around $700

Weakness:

not much information below 25hz,would have liked to have seen an A/V switch, thats about it.

I got this product around 1 year ago,,i saw it a Costco near my home, and remembering the time i saw it tested in Home Theater magazine they had some pretty good things to say about it. So i purchased it blindly not knowing how it would sound. When i got it home i hooked her up and right away i knew i got this sub for a steal. This is easily the best sub for the buck on the market. This sub performs nicely on movies hitting the lowers octaves and shaking my room with authority. Making me feel the movie aswell as watching it.
I really like how this sub sounds on music. Ive tested lots of subs for their musicality and have yet to find a 12inch sub sound so musical for the price. I was surprised by its transient response from note to note not sounding sluggish at all. sluggish you'd expect from most 12s on the market. It hung in there with some of the quick little 8inchers ive tested, such as the little infamous energy Exl;8

This is tight well defined bass for $300 its a no brainer, Go buy this sub.

theres lots of good quality subs ive tested,,,products such as the Paradigm PS1000. subs from energy,,and PSB,,but the D-box David 300 was easily the best value, performing on par with some of the big boys out there

Strength:

Good bass extension in my huge room (19' X 15' X 30'). Very esay to integrate with my actual speakers.

Weakness:

Difficult to say because I never had any other subwoofer in my home.

Very good performance for the price. I hasd no dificulty to
Very easy to find the ideal placement, crossover frequency and gain. I don't use it in a home theater setup but I'm sure it would do a great job.
It's the first time I buy a product built in Quebec and is very proud of that.

Strength:

Deep, strong bass. Solid construction. Ease of use

Weakness:

none so far

I don't have the David 300 but I did just buy the little brother I guess called the D-box Performance 300. It's great! Just watched the scene in Matrix where Keana and the girl use all those guns in the office building and it well tested it I'd say. The music had some deep, rich bass and I have to say I'm pleased right off with this one.

Strength:

very cheap, phase control, very defined bass at low listening levels. VERY NICE POWER AMP ON IT!

Weakness:

bottoms out at hight volumes, HIGH destortion on FOCAL test cds on drum tracks.

i had purchased this sub at my local costco store for 259.99+tax, very cheap.
i was impressed with the sub at first but i noticed just a few little problems. for the adverage listener its one of the best stereo buys out there, but for someone who wants very defined bass this sub is not exatly what you want. i have been looking at replacing the driver, but the amp is awsome, and the box is very well built.

There is a complete review of the D-Box David 300 sub in Volume 18 #2 of the Audio Ideas Guide - Summer 1998. The review is quite positive about the sub and it tests out to have some very 'solid' numbers and performance. I can say this with some confidence as I have the D-Box David 200 (a 200 watt 12" ported sub) that I have been extremely happy with. It punches out the base in HT without the boominess associated with some of the other higher end units. When I bought my sub, I did a ABCD test and to my ears, the D-Box sounded crisp yet able to deliver the demanding bass associated with HT explosions, etc. Regardless to the monetary factor, I think that the D-Box is defintely worth consideration.
My 2 cents worth....

I recently purchased a David 300 and it has turned out to be a worthypiece of hardware. Punches out real nice bass that's low and precise.
It doesn't suffer the wooliness or forcefullness of many other subs, just bags
or clean bass that you can feel.

Worth an audition.
