Strength:

pretty good bass

I have heard a pair of thease speakers and for the price I really think that DCM should be ashamed of themselves. Some people think that thease speakers a good deal, what the hell is your problem, these speakers are way too much. If you are intrested in buy a pair of these speakers think twice. Go to bestbuy and look at their KLH speakers. You will see a pair of speakers with almost the exact same specs for $50 each. Or you can get the fifteens fo $120 each, thats what I did. And I am very pleased with them considering that they are 300 watts and go down to 20hz. Now you have to admit thats pretty damn good for the price, I am listening to them right now. So if you are a stupid faggit go on ahead and buy these, or if you are a girl and are thinking about buying a pair of these I would suggest not buying speakers on your period. You would have to be a dumb ass to buy a pair of these speakers and be satisfied with them

I really don't know what everyone is talking about with the DCM 12's. I got a pair for Christmas and I think they sound great. I had a set of Cerwin-Vega 10's before I got the DCM's and My best friend just bought the brand new 3-way Cerwin-Vega 12's and there is simply no comparison. Sure I think the Cerwin-Vegas sound good but not as good as the DCM's and they cost more. I have had my volume up all the way (Sony receiver w/100 watts RMS per channel) and did not hear ANY distortion. I don't know why people complain that they are two bassy either. I figure thats why my Sony reciever has that innovative idea of offered a bass ajustment. At -10 db bass, I can't picture anybody complaning that any song is too bassy for with speakers. If they are still complaining heres an idea, don't buy speakers with 12 woofers!

These speakers are good speaker if you like umpf behind your sound. However, don't turn them up too high or you will start hearing them crackle. Taking my pair back for another kind of speakers.

Strength:

Strong Bass, took tones of abuse

Weakness:

slight clipping noise in highs, really, really big

I love my KX-12s. Besides the small clipping in the highs, I havent noticed anything wrong with them. They crank out an amazing amount of bass, enough to make my mirror fall off the wall one night, and are loud and clear. They are a little cumbersome (especially carrying up the stairs) but at 89 bucks a peice on employee discount at Circuit City, they were a deal and a half. I have a HK 35 reciever powering them with no surrounds.

DCM has long been known for producing very efficient, cost effective, and somewhat obtrusive speakers. At least they are selling for what you'd expect to pay for low end speakers. But don't take offence at the term low end. They lack refinement that mid to upper class speakers have but are alot less expensive than other 'would-be' hi-end CRAP (listening Bose?) that gives you the same technology for a whole lot more money. DCM's are bang-for-the-buck audio, and there certainly is a need for this market. Rating is refects price.

I bought a pair of these as floor models for $260. There was also a "series 2" available in this model but not on sale, and I don't know what the differences are, they look identical except for grill mounting. Driving them with a Sony ES series receiver I'm disappointed in the overall sound and will return them within the 30 day trial. The bass is big but distorted, and the frequency response feels "rough". Bottom line is they are unpleasant to listen too for any length of time, as I hear lack of definition, roughness, and distortion.

Maybe it was my Onkyo R1 amp, but I hated these speakers because I couldn't crank them past 10 (out of 40). And I still had to eq the sound to get to sound good. My amp would auto-protect above 10. Otherwise, I could get a pleasant sound at average volume. Might have made a good rear channel speaker though. I think I paid $320 w/tax for floor models

Strength:

great amount of bass, strong build, very good sound withany type of music. best speakers I have ever come across!

Weakness:

none, except for shaking the crap out of everything.

They are probably the best speakers for the price. There my all-time favorite speakers. They produce a great amount of bass. And the sound is excellent. Poeple who don't like a lot of bass are going to have a hard time dealing with these speakers. But people who love there music loud and like a lot of bass; well then these are the speakers for you.
