Strength:

Marvelous sound in all respects

Since my initial review a month ago these speakers have only gotten better after much tweaking and fine tuning-I've since reversed their L-R placement, with woofers now facing out and away from each other-I've also set them on the included spikes- and have found the optimum placement and toe-in angles to fit my room. They sound great even at low volume. The BEST bang for the buck. I can't wait to get the CLR 2300 to complete the front end of my home theater. I would also like to point out that I was first lured to these speakers by Darryl Wilkinson's review in HT magazine-and was very skeptical-the review was just too good. Hi-end speakers costing many times more than the Def-Techs never garnished such ratings-and the fact that Definitive Technology buys about 4 full page ads in each issue only added to my doubts of the authenticity of HT's review (which,by the way, has since been addressed in a subsequent issue). Cast aside cynicism- Hearing is believing.

Strength:

BASS, overall sound. Sound excellent with all types of music or movies. Room filling sound, but don't require lots of space. Value.

Weakness:

NONE

I am thoroughly pleased with these speakers. They sound great with music or movies. The 2300 CLR completes the package. I am really glad I didn't bite on another set of Bose speakers and I am glad I returned the Pro cinema 100 set for these.

Strength:

Deeper bass than one would expect from a speaker this size, excellant sound stage, crisp treble.

Weakness:

Bass not as tight as I would like, mid-range lacking.

As a first impression I thought the 2006's were going to be my speaker of choice, and why not: good bass, clean treble, small size, built in sub. The speaker had a lot going for it. I had already decided that I liked Def Tech's bipolar sound over the other brands, and the 2006's provided that a an excellant price. Further listneing caused me to realize that the bass produced was not as clean as I would like, and that the mid-range was greatly overshadowed by the bass and treble. In the end I decided on the BP-30, for what I thought was cleaner and more pronounced treble and mid-range. In addition the BP30 had tighter bass, though it was not as powerful. The 2006's while very good speakers, were simply not the best combination of performance and price for how I wanted to use speakers.

Does it get much better for $1000? I don't think so.

These are great music speakers but absolutely shine with Home Theater. Incredible bass, and very detailed highs. You won't believe the sound these small speakers produce. I stood in amazement when I demoed them at the store.

My setup includes:

Def Tech 2006 TL - Front Channel
Def Tech PRO C2 - Center
Yamaha ??? - Read Channels (Temporary)
Yamaha RX-V800 - A/V Reciever
Sony DVP-S360 - DVD

I'm convinced that these are some of the best speakers $1000 will buy.

Strength:

Amazing bass - very tight, great tonal balance, no brightness or sibilance noted

Weakness:

None as yet, although a previous review noted the absence of magnetic shielding. I had assumed at this level such a feature is a given.

I bought these based on a review in Home Theater magazine. I thought the price was great for speakers of this caliber. I listened to JBLs, Polk Audio and some others not wanting to spend more than $600 pr. I am glad I paid$1080 pr for these. The bass is amazing. I cannot pick up any brightness and sibilance, playing a variety of music and DVDs. Talking aboutd DVDs, these are great home theater spekers. Last night I was watching Princess Mononoke and the seen where the hog dies and falls to the ground, produced a bass that shook my floor and brought disapproving sounds from my neighbors downstairs. It is still early in my ownership and hope it gets better.

I don't know why I waited so long before I took the plunge, but my friend had been telling me for years to buy Definitive Technology. The minute I hooked them up I knew I was in for a ride. The mids are liquid the bass tight and highs none sibilant. They really do look the part also, my wife loves them, now that really makes my life easier. After having these for not more than 3 months I am still amazed at their sound and have probably played more CD's than I usually do over a year.

I got them for a steal from my local Audio Video installer for $899.00 Give him a call at 516-359-6823 ask for Chris.

P.S I bought the complete system 2006TL, CLR2300 and BP2X

WOW!!!!!

Strength:

still good - got better with time

Weakness:

Looks/ aesthetics are quite subjective

In response ( and retaliation ) to the previous review- these are absolutely the BEST value in speakers. The powered subwoofers are a plus- they can be dialed up or down, hooked up to LFE input directly, positioned in or out, or worked off your amp/receiver's bass management. I only hear the "pop" when they're initially plugged in or unplugged- or unless they're on a switched circuit that goes on and off every time your equipment is fired up-which would not be the way to go in the first place- I'm leaning towards operator error. You also payed list price for these- they can be had cheaper, I called the Listening Room in Scarsdale for a price quote for the CLR 2300-was told by one guy that they don't quote over the phone- told them that i don't want to drive down there to find out that I can find it cheaper elsewhere- told him a previous price quote($539)- and was told that they can match that price-drove down, asked the price to a floor salesman (can I help you, sir?), was quoted list price($599), told him of my previous phone call- He then says OK-without checking with anybody (should I have quoted a cheaper price?) and finalizes the deal- stealing the commission on the sale from the original guy I talkedto on the phone-what kind of bullsh*t is that? I should have walked out but I wanted the speaker bad. These speakers are great-that's it.

Great sound stage, bipolar, powered subwoofers, looks great

Denon AVR-3801
2 BP2006
DefTech CLR 2300 (powered subwoofer center channel)
4 DefTech BP2X surrounds

I've had this system for about 6 months and love everything
about it. The speakers sound great for music but absolutely incredible with DVD's especially 5.1/6.1 soundtracks. I constantly find myself "listening" to movies and not really
watching them...

Can't think of anything bad to say except having my apartment neighbors complain about the how the walls were literally shaking...

Strength:

Sound, sound, sound

Weakness:

I spend to much time listening to them when I should be doing other things?

Excelent sound for the money. Nice small size, huge sound stage. I love the built in subs, very good idea.

You will not find a better speaker value.

I use the 2006 with the 2300 center, BP2x surrounds and a 2300 for the rear center. Wow!!

Sound is excelent for both movies and music. Hard to belive such small speakers can have such huge sound.

Compairing them to similarly priced speakers I found the sound to be much more convincing. Voices were rock on and the instruments were excelent across the entire spectrum. In movie mode every thing worked together perfectly. If there is a flaw with the 2006 it is a slight (very slight) low end roll off for the lowest frequencies. However I can tell you that you will likely not notice. During movie's my room (and walls) shook. Very convincing speaker!!!

People have commented on the stability of the speaker, not sure why, if you install the stabilizer feet correctly, you will not have a problem. Understanding of course that they are towers and are not as stable as some other floor standing speakers, but then again they take up such little space, I guess you can't have everything can you.

This is a very innovative speaker design, one that other speaker manufactures are starting to implement. Now there is a ture endorsement!
