Strength:

value. they put their money into technology instead of veneer. absolutely awesome soundstage.

Weakness:

mine, not theirs - since i''ve heard their powered sub unit, i know i could have more bass, but it''s just $$$.

i often visit stores where i can''t afford anything - ferrari, etc. so i heard a pair of bp3000''s at myer-emco playing braveheart. these speakers shamed everything else in the (hi-end) room and sounded just like the theater. i liked the bipolar concept remembering how long it took the world to understand the bose 901. i found these on ebay and immediately kicked out the TWO jbl powered 10" subs - the deftechs even at this small size produced far more effortless bass with no effort! as soon as i can scrape together a few more dollars i will replace my dcm time window rears asap with more deftechs. also, it makes a great difference exactly where and how near you arrange these near walls/corners, you can really tune them exactly to your taste. if you are a 1st deftech user, dig out your live music performamnces; you haven''t really heard them yet.

One should be careful among choosing high quality speakers for home theater and music apparal. I, for one am very picky and ignorant when choosing speakers.
Definitive Technologies is known for their excellency in making bipolar speakers
which of course sound very appealing. These speakers, the BP6, are their bottom
line in bipolar, but they are very astounding and their imaging is superior.
I high recommend these speakers or their higher models to people who dislike
distortion at high volumes and of course, superior sound quality.

Yeaahh... Not bad the BP6. There's not much mid-range. So compare them with some Polk Rt8 or 10,
just to make sure you really like them.

The BP6-B is the successor to the popular BP6. It has a new tweeter that makes a lot of difference. The imaging capability of these speakers is AMAZING. In home theater uses, you can be listening in stereo to something, and sounds will STILL sound like they're coming from beside or behind you. In audio uses, they produce a wide, even soundstage. The sound attributes can be changed by altering the distance from the back/side walls, and angling them towards/away from you. They're equally good for both audio and home theater uses. It does seem like they were primarily designed for home theater, however. They produce quite a bit of base. I really like these speakers!

Strength:

smaller than average tower/full sound for older homes with wild dimensions/price

Weakness:

none for the money

Wow. Review speakers. This is difficult because you get what you pay for. I have forwarn that you have to take price for performance into account before reading this. At this price you are getting a great set of speakers for the average listener. I've owned this set for almost 5 years and love them. They were way ahead of there time and still outperform any other tower i've seen at the same price. I use them with an old pioneer elite for my music room. The elite has good power and really pushes these speakers well. I have enjoyed these so much, I purchased a complete def tech surround package for my home theatre and I love those to. These speakers are great for people with hard wood floors and older homes with lots of arches and openings. The bi-polar design makes them easy to place and with a good enough amp they can push out a surprinsing amount of bass. I would encourage anyone who is looking for there first pair of good speakers to take a hard look at definitive. For price and value easily 5 stars. Happy to respond to any questions on any of the def. techs I own.

Strength:

It sounds very good, the voices are well defined as well as the highs.Good power.

Weakness:

Lacks a little of bass.

I decided on this speakers after listening all of the ones listed above because it offered the best price for the performance. They had best sound and clarity than all the other ones except some dyanudios 62, but the dyns costed 80% more and the def are also excellent speakers.

Strength:

Imaging, Control, bass depth and presence, neutrality, spaciousness and naturalness!

Weakness:

?

These speakers are the dogs b***ocks! they have all the presence and accuracy required for the sort of music i listen to - everything! They have all the timing and pace i require and still pull off a nice, agile bass. They are among the best speakers i have ever encounted and i will always have the upper hand over mates!

The only thing was that i thought the clips at the top should have been replaceable!

Strength:

Sound Good

Weakness:

Not put together very well for the price

Had to purchase magnetic shilds from dealer as they caused problems when placed next to my Panosonic TV. I decided to install them myself after talking with the DT tech support people who were very helpful. The top needs to be removed to get at the "stocking" that goes over the speaker case. The tops are held on with little plastic pressure knobs. One broke off during the removal. They are not secured very tight. Just flimsy and does not look like it can be replaced so I will just have to hold on with the other three. Also, after removing the four screws that hold the speaker, there is a gasket behind the outer part of the speaker and the case. On all but one, the larger speaker gaskets were folded over or not propery aligned. Thought they looked pretty crappy. Not to say these are the most expensive speaker you can buy but they sure are not cheap either. The magnetic shields did the trick and the speakers do not now interfer with the TV picture.

I have not looked at many speakers but I did like the sound of these coupled with my Sub and center chanel. Just a little disappointed in the way they were put together

I play these speakers with NAD314 amp and marantz cd63se, banged with musical fidelity X10D. I have used MIT2 interconnects and cable through out. These speakers are incredibly smooth with excellent imaging and sound stage. The best part of BP6 is that it sounds good even at extremely low volumes.
