ive had these speakers teamed up with the clr 1000 and a pair of bp2,s for surrounds and a pair of their subs powered at 185watts a piece with a yamaha a1,pioneer cld 704 and a mtisi vcr ,,they have been doing a great job for the past 5 yrs but i find that with bi-polar technolgy the placement is critical for great sound as they were designed for ,,my only compliant is that one of the selling features is that they will go down to 20hz but its a flat 20,,so the subs are needed for the xtra punch

I purchased a pair of BP8's almost two years ago. They seem to be getting better every day!!!
Incredible frequency response. Excellent midrange,
Excellent lows. A subwoofer may be needed for
those seeking extreme hard-hitting bass.
Overall, superb!! Absolutely superb!!!

BP-8s are fine quality speakers. Smooth response, powerful sound capability, a great choice for the money. The higher priced speakers by Definitive Technology will provide even better performance, but in terms of value for the money, the BP-8s are exceptional. My plan, for some time in the future, is to upgrade to BP-2000s and use the BP-8s as the rear surround speakers.
Bipolars impose some special placement requirements which for the typical home can be a problem. Positioning should be about 18" away from the wall and not directly in a corner.

The best sounding pair of speakers I've ever heard. Even Infinity's Overture 3 can't match these bipolars. These bp8's imaging works well with Carver's sonic holography and soft EQ circuits, because these circuits only enhance imaging and depth.I still don't know where those deep 22Hz bass came from. How could it come from two 14cm drivers? It sounds like I don't need a subwoofer anymore.
Crisp and very detailed.

I bought my Definitive Technology BP8 speakers 4 weeks ago, and I have them hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V2095. The sound is really fantastic in all modes, stereo, DTS, Surround, etc..... I am extremely satisfied with them. They are worth every penny I spent.

Strength:

Awesome soundstage, great bass, solid build, good looks

Weakness:

Harsh highs, muddled mid-range

I've had my BP8's for about 5 years now. The soundstage is awesome and the bass is proficient for a speaker this size. They look great and are solidly built. But...the highs are harsh and the mid-range often becomes muddled. Bottom line...these are excellent home theater speakers and OK speakers for music. I have mine powered by a NAK AV-7. I thought this receiver might improve the performance of the speakers compared with my old, cheap Sony model...same problems with highs and mids.

I purchased these speakers three weeks ago, & I haven't stopped smiling since! All my friends are now converted to Definitive lovers as well. I am a contemporary jazz fanatic, and the BP8's combined with the H/K AVR40 receiver makes my music sound like liquid silk. I agree with previous posts that the bi-polar sound is addictive. Go get these speakers - you won't be sorry!

Very nice speaker but setup is crucial. Can't just stick them up there and have them sound great without some relocation. Fantastic imaging, as would be expected with bipolar speakers. Good clean mid range, fairly tight bass, but highs tend to become fatiguing after much critical listening. Amp has alot to do with that, too. Recent addition of a pair of Marantz MA500's made a dramatic difference. Highs are now rolled off and much smoother. Bass and mids about the same. Price is right vs. competition. I like these speakers but I honestly wish I had spent the extra $300 and gone with the Snells. I give the BP8's about a 3.5 or 4.

I went to a couple local high-end audio dealers looking for a pair of Sneals, when I ran across the BP 8's, they sounded much better all around then the Sneals, even ones that cost $300 dollars more. It was amazing how much bass the deliver from a 14 cm Driver. I was blown away when I got them home, and they had even more bass in my room than they did in the show room. They have that tight, clean, accurate sound I have been looking for. I have not yet been able to find a cd that can make them sound bad.

I fell in love with the bi-polar sound. It wraps around you, through out the room. Hard to listen to my direct speakers now. I would highly recommend
