It's a good speaker with an excellent soundstage and nice imaging, but I have noticed the following problems.1) Base is a bit exaggerated.
2) Not enough midrange.

However, for home theater, BP8s are perfect!

I absolutely love my BP-8's. These are the first speakers I have ever bought other than my family owned Bose AM5's(which, by the way, SUCK!).The accurate imaging and depth, along with excellent soundstaging, make this an awsome pair of speakers. The bass that these puppies can produce is truly amazing considering it is coming from two 4 3/4 inch drivers. Save your money and buy the BP-8's over the BP-10's, the difference in bass production is so miniscule it is barely noticeble, especially if you plan on buying a subwoofer.
The only problem I have with them is that they tend to get a little shaky at extreme listening levels, but that is with VERY well recorded digital tracks. I would reccomend a subwoofer for people looking for big movie sound.
Happy Listening!!!

I have had my pair of BP 8's for two year. I have fallen in love with it bipolar sound. These speakers provide a very deep soundstage and very good imaging. The bass is exceptable when you take into consideration the size of it drivers. For movies and low bass music I have added a subwoofer. The midrange is good consider the price of the speakers. The highs can be a little airy. But all in all these are very good speakers.Definitves provides such a good product I am planning on puuchasing the BP2001 in the near future. I hope they provide as much enjoyment as my BP 8's. I will let you know how the two speakers compare.

Impressive sound. Truly excellent lower frequency extension with lively treble. Its bipolar sound effect is astonishing. You simply can't tell where the music is coming from. However, I returned mine after three weeks. Weak midrange was the reason. It seems that DT went for lower frequencies and neglected the critical midrange. These would make excellent home theater fronts with something respectable in the center. Three speakers.

Strength:

Spacious 2 channel music, superb imaging!

Weakness:

equipment I'm using with the BP8's:

Carver THX705 Power Amp.

Marantz AV-9000 TXX Pre Amp

Marantz 700 CD player/recorder

Music Hall Turntable w/Grado Red Cartridge

Music Fidelity Phono Pre Amp

Pioner 700 DVD/LD/CD combo player

Definitive Tech BP2 Suround Speakers

Definitive Tech C1 Center Channel Speakers

Eosone 12 inch 250 watt powered Sub

Panamax 1000 Surge/Power Conditioner

My Video Game Systems SNES, N64. SPS, and
Sega Dreamcast

I have had these for 5 yrs, and am NOT
tired of them yet, I have NO desire to
upgrade, the bipolar sound is addictive,
and the bass they put out is amazing. VERY
CLEAN well defined on 2 channel music,
Dolby Pro-Logic, DTS, and Dolby Digital 5.1
(AC3) the POSITIVE reviews pretty much
summed it up, so I won't rehash what they
said, I WOULD like to get another pair of
BP8's for surround duty when I get a bigger
HT room, 5 star ALL THE WAY!!!

Strength:

Great alround proformance in the HT relm. Yes it does lack a bit in the mid range. With a little tweak on the treble knob that should satisfy.

Weakness:

Weak mid-range, but nothing to get upset about.

I have to say I really love these speakers. Tight bass, very precise highs. Again, a bit weak in the mid-range.
Overall a very solid proformer.
The price cannot be beat!
