Strength:
Excellent sound for the price. Strong low end even in large rooms. Very user and spouse friendly!
Weakness:
Took awhile to break in. A little bright. I've used the Pro Cinema 100.6 system for over 2 years now in 3 different rooms. This is a very flexible, easily set up system that provides very good sound for the money. Excellent way to begin sampling higher end audio. Strength:
I haven't broken in the speakers totally yet, but so far the tonal quality is excellent. Much better than the Bose Lifestyle systems I was looking at and approaching the quality of the B&W speakers I was considering buying.
Weakness:
I don't know if it's really a weakness, but the sub can be overpowering in my apartment. Even though the speakers aren't broken in yet, the overall quality of sound is better than any of the other systems I considered buying. These include the Polk RM6600, BOSE AM15, POLK RT series speakers, B&W series II speakers, and Klipsch Quintet. The B&W speakers were of good quality, but the frequency response wasn't really that good unless you got the tower speakers, which I don't have the room for. That only left the other speaker systems. The BOSE sounded muffled compared to all the other speaker systems I looked at. The Polk was what I was going to originally buy. But the sub didn't really get as low as I would have liked. The Definitive speakers were the first satellite system I saw in Tucson (notorious for not having any high end audio or electronics stores)and I loved the way the sub and satellites blend together. Listen up all of you Bose lovers, there are a million other speakers better than the AM10 or AM15. I used to own AM15s until I returned them after two days. Then considered something from Polk. Then I heard the Klipsch Synergy 6. How stupid was I to even start at Bose!!!!!!!! The dealer finally recommended a sleek sat/sub system for only a few hundred more than the other two. It was the Pro Cinema system of course. I was amazed, I was hooked, I was in love. Finally a good system for CHEAP! Absolutely everything was superb. The sub is great and has only a 125 watt amp in it. The mids and high truely sing. The get the most out of them, play them for about 40 hours until they are burned in. They will sound great after that. If you can get this system for $1100, upgrade to the PowerField 12" sub. It's only a $100 more and is goes a little lower and louder(it's from Definitive too). |

I listen to msic about equal to Home Theatre, so I wanted to look for a full set of speakers that could do an adequate job on both for under two grand. After auditioning several good systems at a Hifi parlor relatively nearby (which included systems from PSB and the like) , I narrowed my choice down to two systems for home audition. The first was comprised of two B+W 602's (front channel), two 601's for the rear, a CC6 center, and a AS6 sub -- approx. retail $1950. The second was (duh) the complete ProCinema sub/sat system from Definitive Technology (retail $1348). |

I first heard these speakers at a relatives home. I hadn't even heard of Definitive Technology! All I knew was that I had to have them in my home. I wasn't even looking to buy a new system. I quickly ran out and bought the entire set (4 monitors, center and sub) and a Denon AVR-3200. Wow! Listening to CDs is like listening for the first time because I'm hearing things in the recording that I didn't hear before. Bass is potent, clean and detailed. Mids are uncolored and true. Highs are sweet. You can't buy better speakers at this price. You can't buy better speakers at twice this price. Movies are equally impressive. Dialogue is clear and pleasing. This is obviously a product of the Denon I know but the speakers just sing. Go get 'em. |

When I first listened to this system at the retailer, I was immediately impressed, so I bought them for just under a grand. When I got them home I thought I had made a big mistake, that is until I remembered the saleman telling me that I had to burn them in. Once I did I new that I had gotten a wonderful deal along with the Denon 2600 I purchased at the same time for $600 new. I reviewed a nmber of systems before buying this one. None have impressed me as much without going up at least a thousand in price. |

And just what kind of "pro cinema" would use speakers like these chinless little compression generators? Pro cinema my foot. |
