Tommy,
What a brilliant review. I bet you were just tickled when you typed "chinless little compression generators". I would bet you have never even heard this system. Please don't waste people's time by posting reviews that aren't meant to help someone make a purchase decision. This is a dynamite sub-sat package for the money and doesn't deserve your attempt to be witty.

I'm seriously thinking about buying the ProCinema 100.6 setup and I'm getting such a great deal that I'm wondering if it would be better to use some of the extra money on the BP2X speakers for surrond or spend a extra Ben Franklin to upgrade the sub to the PF12. Anybody with this system have any comments? Thanks

These speakers are awesome. They rival many $2000-$3000 sets. Tommie (see post below) seems like someone who may just be experiencing speaker envy.

What can I say about this amazing speaker/system that does not have seem to been said already ! Quite a bit I hope. My previous surround speaker system featured my pride and joy a pair of Celestion DL6. These speakers produced a good bass and a pleasing sound - no matter how poorly mastered the original material - but were poor for home theatre. I needed a new speaker system for my move to DVD. Due to limited space, I went in search of what my alternatives were. To cut a long story short the DT Pro Cinema 100.6 was my final choice. Size, build quality, looks and SOUND were all satisfied for me in this speaker/system. They reproduce the original material a little too well - in so far as to say that now I have quite a few CDs that I avoid listening to because of how "bare" they sound to me (mainly disco titles that are part of my wifes collection). Rich and acoustic material sound especially good pure joy to listen to. For DVD movies they excel and make th experience that much more enjoyable.
Well yes I am totally pleased with my system. But there are three points I found to be very important. First, make sure to "burn" in the speakers - otherwise you will not like what you hear(at least 40 hours listening) . Second the sub woofer blends wonderfully with the satellite speakers, however it does take a bit of time to get the combination (sub settings ) right. Finally - these speakers have a great sound stage and seperation - be sure not to place the speakers too close to each other or you will loose it all - I made this mistake originally and was regretting my purchase unitl I moved the speakers further apart. And when I did it was as if the whole world opened up in front of me (its easy to do).
My listening is varied TV, DVD and Music (disco "my wifes favourite", classical, light rock and easy listening).

When I was 15, I started looking for suitable pieces for building a Home Theater system. Rather obviously, I picked all the wrong components :(. Mostly because my dad bought all the stuff, and he wasn't thrilled about spending so much money in speakers.
Later on, I had to start working *grin*. I was still looking for the perfect system for my budget. I bought a Yamaha 992 with Dolby Digital. And was decided to buy every single speaker from one manufacturer in order to get equal sound quality from all channels.

Right. I got my ProCinema system, but I sold the 10 in. sub to a friend, and got a PF15.

Please, please, if you are thinking about buying Infinity, Cerwin Vega!, or *God forbid* Bose, give this system a listen. I wouldn't know where to start. I listened to a Bose system and thought it was OK. Then I listened this system. First of all, I got the whole works (except for the bigger sub) cheaper than an Accoustimass. Second, I got real tweeters and midrange in a package that is barely bigger than the Bose cubes. And third, and most important, I got a pair of speakers that sound as if they weren't there. Period. True, you had to burn them in in order to appreciate them. But the soundstage is incredibly wide, and the sound is simply amazing for the price.

I like the sound so much I am thinking about selling a pair of ProMonitors to a friend and buy a BP6 or BP8 (which have the same drivers, but are bipolar and tower speeakers), for use as front speakers.

One recommendation. Don't buy these speakers just because the reviews. Always listen to them before paying big (or small) bucks for a set of speakers. I like my DefTechs better than B&Ws, but I have met people that think my system is a bit on the bright side. Me? I am in sonic nirvana every time I listen to this system :)

Take care,
Francisco.

I have taken several home theater systems for a test drive, but keep coming back to Definitive Technology. (I'm using the new Sony STR DA50ES--Wow!) Nothing seems to compare with Definitive Technology in this price range. The big question: Does anyone know any dealers that are willing to deal. I can't seem to find anyone that will discount these speakers more than a couple of hundred dollars. The on-line and wholesaler discounts for Energy, B+W, etc. are so dramatic I may be willing to buy something other than Definitive if it means saving several hundred dollars for sound differences that are noticeable but not distracting.

I've got the Denon 3200 and the Def. Tech. Pro Cinema 100.6.I've listened to Energy Take5, Cerwin Vega HT,B OSE, Polk Audio and a few more.None of them had the softness and invisibility of the 100.6's.These are powerfull but not agressive or harsh.Simply great!

After spent a month research on this site and visited the local audio stores, I bought the ProCinema 100.6 with a 12" sub upgrade for under $1300. This is my first Digital Home theather system. I use the Yamaha 992 Receiver, Pioneer DV-505, monster cable XP and Sanus System's Euro Foundations adjustable speaker stand. After a week burn in and a little tune up follow by both manufactory's manual. I have to tell you the sound is 10X better than the Bose AM10 for movies and lot better than Wharfedale Modus Monitor MFM5 or the Infinity RS speakers for music. Well, It also looks extremely attractive in my apartment with all black furniture. Thanks to everyone that post your comment on this site. I have to give it a 5 +.

The Definitive Technology ProCinema series sounds superior to the Carver Cinema Series. Has anyone compared the two? Does anyone know if you can purchase the ProCinema on the internet?
