Strength:

very clean and crisp, no rattle at high volume, make the floors vibrate pretty good.

Weakness:

guys that sold them to me!!

These guys are bold, in that I was literally in my truck driving away to go to lunch and the next thing I here is "HEY MAN YOU INTERESTED IN BUYING SOME SPEAKERS" I look at the guy in the van and say speakers? He goes yea I've got a bunch of brand new speakers that a customer ended up not taking and my boss wants us to get rid of them before we come back, which supposedly was Chicago. I told the guy to pull to the back of the parking lot, and the next thing ya know I'm looking in the back of a "WHITE VAN" that has about 4 pairs of signatures. I listened to their jive and figured they were HOT or they loaded up more speakers at their warehouse than they really needed and were just stealing from thier employer. I had them take them out of their boxes, so I could put my hands on them, I also pulled the face off so i could make sure there were speakers. They started off at 1200. and I turned around to walk away. Next thing I hear is "what would you give for them? I figure their hot, so I come back with I'll give you $50 a piece for them. Well they laughed and said "man give us 800 and you got a deal" I turned to walk away again, and again they ask what i'd give and again I tell them 50. Well, this goes on for about 5min's. and finally realize their not going to take 50, so I worked my way up to 100/a piece. I walked over to my ATM, got the $$ and presto I bought what I thought were some hot or stolen speakers that by the way kick alot of ass after I bought my pioneer vsx-d5095 receiver!! I don't care what anyone says, for 200 bucks, I feel I got a pretty good deal from some weaksticks that couldn't sell their way out of a wet paper bag if they wanted to!! Yea, I took a chance that these speakers wouldn't even work, but I did and now I'm reaping the benefits of some pretty good speakers.

Strength:

Never rattle. Great sound. Good at low and high volumes. Bass is great also

Weakness:

Uuuuhhh let's see. They have to scam people to buy them. Actually they probably wouldn't have to scam people, but I'm sure it works out best for them. They are descent speakers. But these quick talkers can probably get some suckers to pay major bucks.

*****First off I am NOT an audiophile**** Obviously if you're reading this you've been had by the white van. When I first bought these over 2 years ago I was pretty pissed. But it's been two years and they still work fine. They never rattle, the bass is great, they are great speakers. obviously if you paid more than around $200 you probably got taken, but what do you expect from a guy in a white van. In all, give them a chance and you will find they are average/above average speakers. But since there are probably many audiophiles in here hating what I'm writing let me remind you that I am in no way an audiophile. I don't know what $2000 speakers sound like, so in my opinion these are fine.

Strength:

Good overall sound. Great value!

Weakness:

Not a recognizable name brand. I would imagine that 90% of these bad reviews are just a bunch of idiots that hate the speakers because they have never heard of them. Shop on sound and value not names you morons!

Okay... I have heard a lot of negative things about these Dynalabs, but here is my expierence. One day I was walking home minding my own business and 2 guys pulled up in a white SUV and asked me if I was interested in buying some speakers. It was around Christmas time, so I really didn't have that much money, not to mention I already was overstocked on home theatre components. Fighting my instintcs, I decided to see what they had and I was impressed to see some pretty impressive looking floor standing Dynalabs speakers. I had never heard of Dynalab before but I decided to see what I could get them for. At 1st these guys tried to rob me by charging $1000 for them. I finally got them down to $250 for the pair. I went home and plugged them in and was very impressed by the speakers. I had them running off a low end Sony amp and these speaker easily blew away my Boston Acoustics HD8 bookshelf speakers on the same amp. A few weeks later I got a Yamaha 400 series DTS amp and the sound improved almost double! Even with the volume cranked to 12 O'Clock these puppies don't distort. They have been a great addition to my home theatre system for the last year and I feel like I got a great deal. I must say that these speakers are the best I have ever owned (not that I've owned the best speakers or anything). I can honestly say that there is not a speaker in the world that can compare to these for the same $250 pricetag. Way to go Dynalab!

Strength:

Warm-bass and clarity across mid and high frequecies.

Weakness:

wider choice of veneered wood finishes would be a bonus.

I got these from a friend, who got them off a friend in a white van...(I need to get myself a white van to boost my sales :-) ). I have a JVC A/V Amp that pushes out 120watts RMS per channel, and these speakers are crystal clear with a decent amp driving it. I even took it to a professional studio to get the full technical specs of this speaker set, and the guy at the studio was surprised that these speaker can handle quite a range of frequecies. For the price I've paid, I'm quite happy with the set, as well as a technical speaker fundie giving me the thumbs-up on the purchase.

Strength:

Nice high freqs Good mids for a single tweeter Good high end bass

Weakness:

Fair to poor low-end bass (but isn't that what subwoofers are for?)

My roommate bought these speakers about two years ago. Same deal, white van, overstock pitch, etc. Except this guy came in and let us test them out first, which I haven't seen happen to anyone else posting here. We hooked them up to my 100W system and thought they sounded fine, better than my 9 year old Pioneer speakers. The Dynalabs have been going for about two years now. It may be 'scammy' but this turned out to be a good deal. I'm guessing that there are many differing levels of quality to these speakers and perhaps its just the cabinets that they all have in common. So, it seems that there are two kinds of complaintants posting here: the ones who paid a ridiculous amount of money for them and ones who paid less and were expecting golden cascades of sound. My roomie certainly got a good deal on these. Review based on price of $250

Strength:

Large expensive looking cases

Weakness:

Lack of bass, didn''t sound as good as $100 powered PC speakers

Usual story - two young guys in white Dynalab van claiming to have too many speakers on board and if they can offload some on their way to their warehouse they can pocket the cash instead of their boss getting to keep the speakers. I fell for it because I actually wanted some speakers, and they spin a good story, complete with bogus invoice and an advertisement from a US magazine. They claimed they are top quality, worth thousands. Prior to testing them I did a web search and discovered the hundreds of hard luck stories from other victims. Rather than just freaking out I went ahead and compared them to me 15 year old Technics bookshelf speakers and my newly purchased $100 PC speakers, and concluded they rated third. Even though I did not have a receipt I went back to 13/98 Old Pittwater Road Brookvale and got a refund. They expect you to make an appointment, it seems refunds are Tuesday around 10am, after the drivers have hit the road. Even though they are probably not obliged to give a refund, they probably do so to avoid malicious damage to their premises and staff. They were actually more concerned with knowing who sold them to me so that they can pay their workers the correct commission. They have about 7 vehicles running around Sydney who are apparently independent contractors. I don''t recommend getting into discussions about quality with them, and they didn''t even ask why I was returning them. The very fact that I was doing so proved I had discovered their scam (which is obviously worldwide). There is also some good advice for other victims at http://www.speakermania.com/speak/messages/2518.html

Everything

Told they had been given too many speakers and needed to get rid of a few sets. Typical stuff. Anyway i fell for it. I then came home that night looking to find some more info in the speakers and found out it was a scam. I then tracked down where they were and asked for my money back. Lucky i got a receipt and there is only a 3 day money back garantee so i asked for my money and was told to come back in 2 weeks. I thought ok see what happends 2 weeks came and i turned up and to my surprise i got my money back in cash. I then drove off quick as i could and have never looked lack that was a life long lession i learnt. Anyway good luck to anyone else out there. If i didn''t get my money back i would have reported them to the current afair programs i''m sure they''d love to hear about something like this.

midrange is great. Using them with television was a treat

Weakness:

Bass isnt as deep as I like

Bought out of a white van. Drivers said they had one extra than what was listed on the truck inventory. That was over a year ago. I''m thinking of selling them and used the internet to get a price. When I came accross the "scam" I was floored. I really like what I got. But, really! How much are they worth?

Treble is soft and muddy, mid soft and muddy, bass is soft and muddy. The hole thing is soft and muddy. (especially the bass)

I have tried to get use to these things but it is impossible. I said to my wife that I haven’t been listening to much music lately. Got my old Quadrils out and wow back to good music. Now the only problem is that I have to get rid of these things. They would be all right for someone who has never had a good set of speakers. My little AR 1 kills them and I have these in the garage.
