Using these speakers for rear channels makes an excellent hometheater system. I would suggest to use A pair of C-2's for front and rear, sounds much better than exl16's all around. The Con-series is so much better than the exl-series. You can even use a pair of C-2s for center. A perfect set-up, C-8's main, AC300 center, and C-2's for rears, music and Ht will Rock! You can contact me for a candian supply, around $1295can for everything, you just cant beat it.

Just picked up a pair of C2's for a great deal. $375CAD! They sounds great as the rears to my C8's in the front. Sounds is very clear and the lack of extreme low end bass works well for me as I find the C8's can tend to be a bit too boomy. They helped to balance the overall sound of the system for HT. I haven't tried them as fronts but they might lack a little bass for some types of music. For the first time I can hear the limitations of some CD recordings. On some CDs you can hear a slight hiss at loud volumes. However, the Eagles DTS CD has some of the most perfect sound I've ever heard in a home system. My setup:Yamaha 995, Sony S7000 DVD/CD player, C8's in front, C2's in back. Still waiting for my AC300.

While shopping for a good pair of stereo speakers for my bedroom. I needed a smaller set that didnt sacrifice on sound quality. I originally wanted Legacy Audio Studios, but my pocket book would not have it. So I looked to Energy. I have the Take-5 system at home and it hasnt yet let me down.
After hearing some good reviews on the e:XL series (including one from HT Mag), I went to audition them. I didnt care for them one bit. They sounded too boomy and brite. Plus they had that "hollow" sound that bugs me (the Def Tech Pro Cinema series also has that "hollow" sound). So, dejected, I looked around the store to find some other options (I had intended to buy the e:XL-16 if they sounded ok, which they didnt). The sales guy showed me some Snells, which had an unexciting rolled off sound that I wasnt interested in either. Finally, I saw a pair of C-2s. At first listen, I realized that these puppies were putting out the sound that I was looking for. The midrange was very nice and highs crisp. They presented me with a wall of sound that was uncolored. They lacked low low low bass extension, but for music, they reproduced the low very well. Ill probably buy a sub to reinforce the low low low bass, but overall, I was very happy when I bought a pair. For the price, there is no better speaker.

*enjoy the sauce*

Ok. Here's the deal. The C-2 is one of the best bookshelf speaker you can buy. If it costs less than a grand, I've listened to it. Polk, Definitive Technology, Klipsch, JM Lab, Boston Acoustics, Ohm, B&W, you name it. You simply can't do better at this price range. Clean, detailed, TRANSPARENT sound, and imaging like you can't believe. And after all, isn't that the most important attribute a speaker can bring to the party? Soundstage is what draws you into the performance, be it music or home theater.
How many other manufacturers do you know that would put the tweeter of their top of the line $6,000 speaker into a $600 bookshelf speaker? Well, that's EXACTLY what Energy did. The C-2 has the same tweeter as their Veritas series.

Basically, the level of design and engineering that went into this speaker is astounding. Top quality drivers, solid bracing, excellent finish, and biwired cable inputs. I've had these speakers for about 2 1/2 years now, and I only wish I had the money for the C-6's at the time. Any type of music, you name it, this speaker excells at it. Be sure to drive it with warm electronics, though. Pioneer Elite, Denon, NAD all good. Avoid Yamaha and Sony ES. They're too bright. Power it with separates and be prepared to blow your mind. I had a Sherwood Newcastle reciever for a while and thought I was happy until I tried a Pioneer Elite VSX-027tx. An unbelievable warm bubble of sound. Anyway, I'm babbling. Just go listen. Oh, and don't pay list. There's too many deals to be had. God, I love Energy.

Iam adding to my review from June 10, I still have the same system, C-8's, C-2's and the AC300 for center, the exls8 for sub,(a exls12 reconmended for HT). There is one correction that was brought to my attention, I quoted $1295.00can for C-8's, Ac300, C-2's, is should be $1295.00us approx, sorry if I miss informed some people on this, you still wont get a better deal on these #1 speakers!Email me, I will give you more info!

This is a very good speaker. At it's current price a steal. Beautiful sound, outstanding fit and finish, and a reasonable price. You can't ask for more than that. Very highly recomended.

Great speaker for the money.
For 600 bucks, you get a speaker that can easily mate with a 2K$ amp. The cosmetics aren't great, but the sound is. This is a very detailed and musical speaker, and I would gladly own it.

BTW: I preferred this speaker over the slightly more expensive Energy floor-standing speakers. That may have been because of slight difference in setup (no spikes and slightly lower drivers of the floor-standers), but I wouldn't spend the extra money.
