I own Energy C-4 for about 1 1/2 years now, and I think this is a great speaker! Those who are considering this speaker may be worried about one thing:
Energy is not a popular name compared to B&W, NHT, etc.. I shopped around
and listened to many speakers, but no other speakers provided such a
musical and deep sound like C-4 for the price. If you buy this speaker,
make sure you get a powerful amplifier. I use ADCOM 5400, and I think
it's a pretty good combination.

I Heard These at the Good Guy's. I was very impressed. Besides the Sonus Faber Concertino's these are the best budget speakers that I've heard.

The Energy C4's are my first pair of loudspeakers and i'm really happy with them i've owned them for about 6 month now and think its a great speaker for this price range. I'm not going to describe how they sound because i don't exactly know all the those terms people use to describe speakers. You just have to go out and give them a listen. Overall i'm very satisfied with my purchase and recommend this Canadian made loudspeaker to anybody looking for something around 800$-900$ price range.

I have own them for a year now, bought from the goodguys in Sacramento California. Run them with bi-amping/wiring with Acurus 100x3 for the highs and Carver TFM405 for the lows. After bi-amping I really enjoy the music. The highs powered by the Acurus is very engaging, music has been very meaningful to me lately. As Mark suggest he used the Adcom, I would be very curious to try them out with a MOSFET. I'm using the GTP750 for the pre-amp. Bass is more than enough for me that I didn't use my Velodyne F1200R. Save it when I got my own TV and build a home theater. The speaker is positioned toeing-in in my average size US apartment. But I think the C-2 is much more better in imaging and detail monitors. Might want to get the C-2 for my rears and get rid of my Bose AM10. BTW I own the Bose for almost 3 years now and been using them less than a month. Can't wait to let them go. However I don't like the Annie Lennox version of Neil Young in the Medusa Disc. It sounded way too bright and fatiguing that I seldom listen to them. Cosidering the cost for this speaker is hell lots of paybacks that I would give it 4 stars. My friends here love them so much.

Purchased these speakers at The Audio Shop in Ottawa for $650 Cdn (sale still on) a year ago, regularly priced at over $1000. While worth the full amount, at that sale price there is no competition. Very open top end, deep wide soundstage, fantastic with piano and string instruments. Female voice very clear, perhaps a little thin. Lots of weight on bass, seems to be somewhat of a 60Hz rise based on my casual test CD listening, but clean down to below 40Hz with audible limits almost to 30Hz. Twin port design, 1-8" woofer, 1-1" tweeter, floor standing with spikes. I have them connected to a Rotel integrated amp (40W rms) and Rotel CD player, bi-wired with regular 10 guage copper wire. These speakers can handle a lot more power, ideally would like at least 100W to really enjoy their dynamics and huge soundstage. Great detail at lower levels also. Recommended for all types of music, very versatile. 5 stars for the price I paid. May want to compare with Paradigm Monitor 9's or larger PSB floor standers if looking for similar equals.

I've had mine for almost a year, still love them. My home theater is all Energy now, with the AC300 center and Take 2 surrounds. I also got mine at the Audioshop in Ottawa for $650. A great speaker for a great price.

I think that the name of the brand very good describes behave of these speakers. They have enough bass to listen to them without sub(even in home theater complect, very good transperency and can play on high levels without any noticable distortion. I'm not going to talk about their look. Go to your local dealer and check them out...Better use bi-wiring, don't place them too close to back wall, use with good amp and good cables, I reccomend Adcom.
System:
Power Amp: Adcom GFA-5500
Preamp/tuner: Adcom GTP-450
CD player: GCD-700
Power Enhancer: Adcom ACE-515
Speaker Cables: two pair of Original Monster cable

Strength:

Great Value, deep base

Weakness:

midrange is a little thin

I just got my C-4, exls-12 and still in the process of breaking-in. I have been listening to my Audible illusion, Classe-1000 and Thiel 3.6 combination for 4 years. My first impression could be from instinctively comparing C4 to my Thiel 3.6. Probably is not fair to C4. I'm happy with the sound I get considering the cost for Sony strdb 930 and C4 combination. The highs and bass of C4 is great for movie. For music, the mid-range does not open up untill you turn the volume real loud. I could correct some of that problem with Sony's EQ adjustment to boost midrange. It'll take sometime to fine the right balance though. Overall, good detail and sound quality. The sound from C4 is a bit thinner than my taste. However, it could come from Sony receiver. I probably could verify it if I connect C4 to my Classe. I also need to break-in more to see if it opens up eventually. I wonder if C6 is better in midrange department.

The of frame of grill cover is broken when I receive it. Call Marc. He'll order a new one for me. This may be a common problem from energy. The use plastic frame and tends to be broken on the corner. I like the bi-wire feature and the high gloss piano finishing.

Strength:

Good bottom end.Great highs without being harsh.Good mids considering the driver combination.Look nice for a basic boxy design.

Weakness:

Bass can get boomy if placed too close to walls.

I owned Paradigm Monitor 3's and 7's (rear & fronts). While searching for a new receiver I heard ALOT of sound coming from one of the listening rooms.I snuck in and realized that what I was hearing was a single pair of C4's.I went back to the "Paradigm Room" and listened to my Monitor7's
again.I immediately realized that the Paradigm Monitor series sounded like **** compared to the C4's.I decided that I didn't need a new receiver as bad as I needed to replace the Paradigms.Long story short(oops, too late),I purchased the C4's for my front speakers.Have been so happy with the C4's that I "lost" my Paradigm Monitor 3's and they too have been replaced with an additional pair of C4's.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BANG FOR THE BUCK.The C4's may be a little overkill for the rear channels but Denon receiver owners with 5Ch.Stereo will definitely appreciate C4's in the front and rear. My modest system includes:
Denon 2700 Receiver,1-Parasound HCA1000 Amp(powers front C4's),4-Energy C4's,1-Mirage FRx12 sub,1-Mirage MC2 center,
and a POS cd player.Definitely listen to the C4's while they are still available.

Strength:

Spacious, smooth and clear upper midrange and treble. Good imaging, good overall balance, sounds fine with grille on, non critical of listener height or position, excellent value

Weakness:

Low bass to mid bass not as clean as some higher priced product

Well, I had to sell my beloved Thiel 2.3's because my 1 year old son was trying to destroy these beautiful speakers and I went looking for a cheaper speaker for him to destroy. I chose the Energy C-4 and it's amazing how far cone speaker technology has come.

These speakers are so good that I don't miss the 2.3's, which retail for $3,600! No, the bass is quite as clean and no, the imaging is not quite as holographic, but at the same time, the speaker has amazing coherence and even better balance and smoothness than the Thiel 2.3's. The tweeter on the C-4 is outstanding and I believe it has the same or similar technology as the outstanding Veritas 2.8 and 1.8 speakers.

I was originally concerned that the single 8" woofer would not be able to integrate well with the tweeter but it does. The midrange from the woofer is excellent and bass is good, though not as tight and clean as the Thiel 2.3's.

You can get these speakers for around $500 and at that price there are few competitors.

Another plus, the speaker sounds good with the grille on, and the grille has done a good job of keeping son (now three years old) from destroying the tweeter or woofer.

WI can recommend these speakers to anyone. They are that good, especially for the price and I've heard many excellent speakers.

On an absolute basis, these are 4 star speakers but I just could resist rating them 5 stars since I enjoy them so much and better speakers cost so much more. You would need to spend over $3,000 to get speaker much better than these.
