Followup to my first post....A reader here (Bruce Abar) gave me the name of a dealer in Canada (A&B Sound) and their salesperson (Len Gerling) First off, I saved close to $400 net inc shipping charges on the pair of C-8's that I had on order(were $1200 at good guys.
All I can say is that Len was a pleasure to deal with and Kudos to Bruce for turning me on to them!!!!

Going away for a week and can't wait til I get em when I return! Please excuse the repetitive rating (did not want to skew the results)

I had intended to purchase the infinity studio monitors, then i listined to the infinity kappas and liked those better.I then auditioned the polks, then the klipse.Decided then to buy the infinity kappas but was encouraged to listen to the energy c8.I was sold immediately.crisp highs, smooth mids and the "bass",what "bass".It has been 4 years now,it is going to take a long time for me to change these babys. Thanks" energy".

These C8s are quite simply terrific speakers. I heard Energy was going to drop them with the advent of their new line, but chose not to.
I have no idea whether that's true. But if it is, I can't help but wonder whether this is a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it''. Seems to me the C8s would be difficult to improve upon.

Last time I bought speakers (now ancient JBL Decades) I listened to a range of products before making my decision. Who knew I was "auditioning"? Wonder what they'll call it when I buy my next speakers 20 years from now?

Thanks to all of you, and to Audio Review, for helping me select great sound.

Dave

Over the past 8 years I have owned about 10 different speakers, I always buy used, and if I don't like them, I just resell andmost of the time loose absolutely nothing. Here are brands I have owned, B&W, Mission, Radford, Spendor, Altec, Monitor
Audio, Camber, PSB, also some home assembled speakers which are always a great saving. I always thought british speakers
were the best but I fell in love with the Energy's first by the way they looked, terrific finish, and then by the sound later on when
I took them home. I think Energy is a good name it describes them well, they are quick and dynamic, very punchy, midrange is
smooth and accurate, the bass is deep, treble is smooth. I just can't find any faults, they are the best speakers I have ever
owned. The only thing I could do to get a better sound out of them would be to place them in a larger room, but that is
impossible for me right now. If you ever want to buy them don't pay the list price, some retailers take 20% off the list right from
the start. But the best is to do what I do, have patience, chech out the local ads, buy them used, and if you don't like them, the
sell them back, you pretty well have to live with any piece of equipment to really know if you like it or not.

Strength:

Price,Soundstage,Looks

Weakness:

Needs a large room to be set up properly, Not Shielded.

Energy has done a wonderful job with this speaker. I have been using the C8's for over a year. I first used them for a 2 channel system being powered by a Bryston 4B. Truely amazing, the soundstage is unreal, bass is tight and quick. I am now using them in a HT system with the AC300 center channel and the matching RVSS Surrounds. I power them all with the Yamaha DSP3090. I can't say enough about how well this combination works. The C8's should be out from the wall about 2 feet thus requiring more room then the c6's or c4's. It is too bad that these speakers are being discontinued.

I'd have to agree with Evan below.
The C8's are a great speaker - tight and warm but they definetly have no oompf.

I chose the Klipsch KLF-20's instead, a far more live speaker with the bass response to match - compare and you will hear the difference.

This is for Mark down below, your email address is incorrect, email me and I will help you with your C-8's questions. This not being a forum area, I dont want to get in trouble doing this, so I will tell everyone my pair of C-8's are still the best. I notice alot of people with wire problems, make sure you bi-wire these speakers, you must to produce the proper bass and imaging. If you dont have kids or pets, also removing the front grills is an improvement, not to mention the high teck look you get!

I heard the C8 tonight and loved them. One thing I was told by the salesperson is that they are not shielded and thus are not suited for a home theater. Have any of you used them in a home theater environment? If so, how far must they be kept from the TV to eliminate interference?

I finally received my C-8's today. I have auditioned the following speakers to near exhaustion and made a clear decision on the C-8's:Infinity Overature 1, 2, 3
Infinity RS 5, 8, 10
Monitor Audio Silver 5 (Excellent!)
Energy C-8, e-XL28p, Audissey
Wharfedale MFM7

After listening to all of these, I could not get around the fact that the C-8 has the clearest and fullest sound. I then contacted Bruce Abar. He responded with the fact that Len at A&B Sound in Vancouver, BC would be able to help me get my fix.

I bought the C-8's the AC300 center, and the e-XLS12 Subwoofer. I have Optimus LX5's as my rear surrounds. I hooked them up originally with the Mega Cable 12g with banana's. I put in a couple of my music cd's and I was in stereo heaven. The sound replication is undoubtedly the best I've heard at any level of speaker I have heard. I am hearing things in my music I've never heard before.

Movies are also hot. The panning sound across the middle is seamless. The AC300 has the same tweeter as the C-8's so the tonal quality is excellent. Also, the sub has so many adjustments, once dialed in it is seamless with the fronts. I honestly had not liked the sound of my music in anything but 2 chan stereo. But with this sub I actually like the additional depth that it gives to the music.

I paid the following:
1100.00 canadian for the C-8's
699.00 canadian for the e-xls12 sub
399.00 canadian for the AC300
Total product costs in canadian: 2198.00 plus shipping

@.67 cents on the dollar exchange rate, that is roughly $1472.00

Len threw in some kimberkable for me to hook up the fronts and the center. I hooked them up biwire after I had everything checked out, I must say that after hooking the bi-wire speaker cableing, there was only a slight sound change. But I've yet to turn the music up!

If you are in the market for a quality loudspeaker then here's what you need to do. Go listen to anything out on the markeed worth between 1500.pr to 3500.pr. I would guarantee you that there is no way that you would buy anything besides the energy speakers... Beauty and performance has yet to find an equal. Thanks for taking the time to read this, now go call Len!!!
