Strength:

Very clear sounding

Weakness:

none so far

I am very impressed with the encore speaker product. They sound great and they weren't too much money. I was using 16 gauge speaker wire and decided to go with 12 gauge wire and that improved the sound immensely. I have the speaker system hooked to an sr-19 marantz and a pioneer dv-525 dvd player. So far there havent been any problems at all. These speakers look good and sound good.

Strength:

Very clear. Not to harsh because of the aluminum as opposed to titanium. Strong and and tight bass for an 8 inch.

Weakness:

subwoofer hisses port is a little small

I for a while saw all the awards this product so when I saw it at bernies I was very suprised and snatched it before they sold out. When i got it I was amazed by the bass from only an eight inch sub and i was expecting that to be its week area. I mean it isnt the best but is far superior than any other eight inch. I had a problem with the wall mounting brackets but energy was great and sent out some new ones right away. It was thoughtful to bad it didnt help much. i Had to disable the bracket and fix it.
Although energy id great at making speakers there not to good at making brackets. These did take about 2 months to break in but once they had the midbass exploded from the 4 inch woofers on the surround speakers. I really like it movies and is very good for listening to music.

Strength:

Sound, appearance, performance, sub-woofer.

Weakness:

Manual is weak.

Well, everything have been said in the previous reviews. Sound for H/T is incredible and for music is excellent; specially for female vocals. Guitar and piano come up very good also. The speaker are matched to a Denon 1801 and they work very well together. Friends who watched movies with us are amazed at the sound quality and richness. I would buy them again anytime; specially at that price. (They had a deal on the Encore and the 1801 as a set for $2000. CDN or approx. $1400US.)

They do need some break in time; they are sounding better every day.

There are not I can think of.

Incredible speakers. 2 - 4" Woofers, 1 Dome Tweeter. High quality bracket for mounting. These speakers are designed for a big room or small room a like. In large living room they never cease to amaze me. Excellent imaging, low distorting, warming midrange and even a powerful low end. I highly recommend to anyone. I bought my from http://www.4electronicwarehouse.com and they really know there stuff. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I tryed to put a review here a couple of times, did not work. I have the Encore 6 speakers now, and very surprized on the performance. They are 10 steps above the take-5, very high tech looking. The sound in movies is a complete tonal match, with no holes. You must listen to these new speakers, if anybody wants a Canadain suppler, email me at babar@uniserve.com. With the us and can exchange rate, you almost get half price. Check these speakers out!

Music

I decided to go with the Encore system after hearing it compared to Energy's Take-5 system. While the Take-5 is a decent package, the Encores produce a much fuller sound. Overall, I think this is a good system for the price. I'm using them in conjunction with the Denon 3801 receiver. These speakers give you more than enough bang for your buck. At high volume, the Encores will hurt your ears without showing any signs of strain or distortion.

The initial break-in time is key. I ran mine constantly for a week before I noticed a quantifiable improvement. Even after the break-in time, I still was not happy with the way the speakers sounded with music. The base was boomy, and there seemed to be a lot of midrange. I changed my sub configuration from the single wire to using the scheme described by P Martino in a post below, and this made a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE in music playback! (Thanks go to P). The sub now has a much more dynamic range, and that helps to balance out the mids from the satellites. I wouldn't say that music playback is flawless, but it's a whole lot better than it was.

As stated in numerous other reviews, the strength of these speakers is movie playback. The Encores turned 'Saving Private Ryan' into an immersive experience.

Finally, the size of these speakers is impressively small. My wife didn't want speakers that would dominate the room, and these fit the bill. I got the optional floor stands for the front speakers and used the included wall brackets for the rears. Both the stands and the brackets work well.

Watched and listen to Speed racer a couply of days ago, you must try this on the encores, a real test on how good they sound, you will keep looking around for monster size speakers, and only see small little black speakers, just amazing high tech in this new package. My email address has not been working, so you can try again or direct at babar@uniserve.com., if you need a Canadian supply for Energys or PSB speakers, both Can, both excellent speakers!

Amazing sounding speaker for the size & value . Recently hooked up the speakers and was totally blown by its sound dynamics. Sound came pure and natural slightly on the bright side excellent for Home Theater. Initially I had a problem with the subwoofer, but the dealer replaced it immediately. I am really enjoying the speakers. Energy had done a great job for bring such quality products at such an excellent price.
