Having lost a good system (Infinity 2.5 Reference Standards, Denon, etc.) in a divorce a few years ago, I set out to replace my less than satisfactory 'cheap' speakers. |

For several months I had been telling my girlfriend that we needed "real" surround speakers. We had a pair of klipsh bookshelves that just didn't cut it; but try to convince someone who could care less about audio equipment and whose mantra is "I can't tell the difference," that you need yet more audio equipment. You get a blank stare. Then comes the killer. "You're going to spend HOW MUCH on speakers!" Clearly, I had my work cut out for me. So I got on-line and started boppping around sites, reading reviews. The Overture 1 caught my attention because 1) I already have Infinity Compositions for my front 3 and 2) they were reasonably priced. The reviews of the sound clinched the deal. Now came the hard part. After work, I captured my woman and drove to the store. I pointed them out. She wasn't too upset. She could see they wouldn't dominate our decore. Plus they easily fit into a budget. When we came home and found that the puppy ate some wires around the house, I swooped in for the kill; we had to get the speakers to get the wires out of the way. She agreed, and the speakers were purchased. What a pair of speakers! Clear highs. Excellent middles. And the BASS! Talk about your raw power! These little babies perked up the room the second they were in, making our HT much more dynamic. Even my self-confessed "don't care" girlfriend had to admit she could hear the difference. During another fact finding mission to our local dealer, in which she was sold on a Lexicon DC-1, she actually suggested that we get another set of Overtures for the special "side" speakers the Lexicon supports. Now that's an endorsement. For those of you who have to fit a speaker in a budget, in a room, and get all the sound quality and punch you can, these are your speakers. |

I am quite impressed with these small speakers. They do not sound like a foot tall bookshelf. The highs are very clear and the entire range is very natural sounding. With the amplified woofer these can really be a potent bass preformer, especially with HT. Just about any amp can drive these speakers because of the high efficientcy and internal amp for the 8 inch woofer. If you are looking for a small, unobtrusive, but great sounding pair of speakers that can handle explosions as well as a viloin passages, I would suggest to go audition these Infinity Overture 1. |

I purchased a pair of Overture I's a couple of months back and have been very pleased. Say what you want about CC, yeah the selection sucks and their sales staff may be uninformed, but they are customer concienous! |

When looking for a new pair of speakers, I was attracted to the Infinity Overture 1 for the incedible sound that they could produce from such a small inclosure. The 8-inch woofer is powered by its own 150W amp, releasing the strain from your amplifier. Added to that is their 92db rating for efffiency. I wanted a speaker that is both musical and was a powerful home theater preformer. The Overture 1 mated with a CC-3 center provides a very seamless soundstage and in a small room, you can do without a sub, since the OVTR 1's can shake the floor quite remarkably for a 13 inch speaker. In another review of these speakers, placement was stressed as important. Another thing that is important is good speaker cable and interconnects. After ugrading the cables, I could notice a greater depth and soundstage, along with more of a midrange and they eliminated a tendency towards brightness on the high end, and they provided a more solid bass. So just make sure to use good cables, these speakers seem to be quite sensitive to that. |
