I got my set from ubid for $347. I replaced some Boston Acostic A-70s. I was worried about whether or not I had made the right move. At first I thought they might be a little bright but I am happy to say that after playing them for a couple weeks I think they are wonderful. They put out a nice clear soundfield that has more depth and clarity than my old A-70s. I am hearing things in the music I never heard before. I am feeding them from my Yamaha MX-460. Not real sure what to make of them as home theatre speakers but they get five stars from me for the music.

Strength:

150 Watt Powered Sub, multiple woofers, build quality

Weakness:

None

Wow! I bought these at ubid.com for $347 a pair and could not be more pleased. They are very clear speakers with smooth, punchy bass. They are very heavy and have a nice black finish. Highly recommended!

Just heard the Overture 1's at a local shop and loved them! But at $800 each there a little steep. Can anyone tell me where to purchase them for $600 each or less? Really enjoyed them in a surround setting with the CC3 center and QPS1 rears. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Strength:

Price, tight bass, good imaging, fairly efficient, and they look good

Weakness:

I wish they had an on/off switch, flimsy grille must be removed to adjust bass, high hz seem very directional, the feet are flimsy (pem nuts comes out of plastic foot if tighened too tight)

I was on the market for a new pair a speakers to replace my 20 year old Speakerlab-k's (Klipschorn clones). The k's sounded fine but they took up to much room. I knew I would miss the big bass punch of the K's so I was looking for a powered speaker. I seen these on Ubid like most others here have and got them for $695 pair. My first impression of these speakers was not good. They sounded very harsh on high end and a little boomy in the low end. After a day or two of tweaking the receiver controls and finding the perfect placement, these speakers sound fantastic. In my room the bass adjustment sounds best at the 3 or 4 position (I bottomed them out in the mid position)and 12 feet apart with the front feet screwed out as far as possible with the back feet screwed in to tilt the speakers back.
Teamed up with my BU-120 sub they make outstanding front speakers for my home theater, but I think there better for playing music. My cd collection consists of everything from George Jones to Sonny Rollins to Metallica and I must say these speakers really shine when playing Jazz. On a well recorded cd like David Sanborn's "Inside" these speakers sound awesome, no need for a subwoofer (actually a subwoofer hurts the sound). The bass is tight and precise (if not turned up too high) and the speakers seem to disappear into the soundstage. Bottom line is that these speakers require to be driven by a clean amp and play quality recordings to really appriciate them. On the down side, they also make poorly recorded cd's sound even worse.

Strength:

Crisp, but not harsh sound emminating from these speakers

These speakers are great! bought them on ubid for $277 / per
my chair shook me around when watching the helicopter scene in the Matrix so much I couldn't get the smile off my face...and I don't have a sub yet. I suggest these speakers to anyone with ears. My regret is not buying more of them. I've watched the prices for them on ubid, and they are going for about $350 / per now.

Strength:

Excellent sound reproduction. Surround sound for movie viewing is exceptional. Extremly well built speaker.

Weakness:

Grill design poor, not held on well. front feet protrusion can break. Replaced through Haran group - excellent service.

Purchase 3 of these speakers off of E*Bay 6 months ago. They have a beautiful cherry finish and are constructed very will. These speakers are not for those who expect booming base out of your system, but if you want to reproduce high quality sound as it was recorded they are excellent. I primarily use them to view DVD's and the surround they but out is magnificent. I use the 3'rd speaker as a center channel and a pair of RS3's for surround. These speakers give me a respectable amount of base and more volume than I could ever want. I wanted to avoid the purchase of a sub and am pleased with my choice. I think these speakers best fit an older age catagory more interested in quality than boom. They are the most beautiful speaker that I found and the real cherry finish is wonderful, a real piece of fine furniture. It is a shame that they have been discontinued.

Strength:

great sound, quality, and clarity

Weakness:

none at all!

Reviewed main speakers for about 5 months before making my purchase, and when
I tell you I made the right choice, I'm not kidding!
I don't spend my money unless I'm very sure of what I'm getting.
Killer sound no matter what you choose to listen to. Great for surround also.
And if you think their made with ultra thin wood, go lift one up!!!
Other than my Harley, these are the best !!!
And if your talking value, I don't think any speak is cheap.(My opinion)
