I JUST PURCHASED THE INFINITY OVERTURES 3 AND (love them) THE HIGHS ARE CLEAR AND THE BASS IS SRTONG AND CLEAR, NOT BOOMY AS SOME PEOPLE WOULD SAY.THE ONLY TWO THINGS I DON,T LIKE IS THE SPIKES THAT STAND THE SPEAKERS ON THE CARPET,AND WHY THE BASS PORT HOLES ARE SO LOW UNDER THE SPEAKERS AND NOT IN THE BACK OR FRONT OF THESE SPEAKERS LIKE OTHER ARE??? I GOT THESE FOR $1595.00 A PAIR AT SOUND PRO. SO IF YOU LIKE CLEAR AND STRONG SOUNDS FROM YOUR SPEAKERS I WOULD RECOMMEND THE OVERTURES 3. AND THERE GREAT WITH MOVIES SURROUND ALSO.I.D GIVE THESE A SURE 5. |

Strength:
Loud !
Weakness:
Too much bass Over last two months, I was looking for some speakers with buildin powered subwoofer from the BOOK only. So today, I deceided to test drive them. I went to see my old buddy "Circuit City" and "Tweeter". At "Tweeter", I tested the Mirage OM6 and OM8, very wide sound stage and not much of a sweet spot (omnipolar). But I do not like it because the image of the placement of the instructment and the singer's voice are not clear to me at all. Then I went to CC to test drive the PolkAudio RT2000 and the other Infinity speakers. All Infinity speakers (including Overture 3) are very loud (high sensitivity) but the music and the base is so loud that I could not hear the singer's voice and the solo. It is too artifical to me. It may be good for home theater but not for someone who love to hear the voice of the singer and each individual instructment more than the loud bass and music. However, the saleman told me that the Overture3 does have not a low frequency input and cross over control for the internal subwoofer and it is very is essential for HT. For this much money, it makes me a little bit disappointed. I think Infinity likes you to buy their subwoofer if you want to connect your subwoofer output from your receiver to something. Do not buy the BU-120 model, they humm so much even when it is not in use !!!! But why would you want to buy another subwoofer when this Overture3 already has 300W (each) build in !! I could not figure this out yet unless you have too much money to burn or unless your listening room is very large. Similar Products Used: Polk Audio RT2000, RT3000. Acoustic Research AR1, AR2. these speakers are the best sounding speakers I have ever heard. I would buy another pair for every room of the house if I could afford them. I got a great price at www.sounddistributors.com. I would tell everyone to but the Overture 3 speakers. Great low end along with an excellent high end. Infinity did a great job with these speakers. |

Strength:
Flexible placement options. Magical midrange. Crystal clear highs. Tight tight bass that goes deep in a properly damped room.
Weakness:
The cabinets are a little light but don't seem to resonate or influence the sound. These speakers are an absolute find especially at close out prices. They are best used with other Overture series speakers, including Overture 1's and 2's. I have the 1's for my surrounds and center channel. Use good cables and not 'thin cheap, .15/lb. stuff'. At least 16 gauge is recommended (I use 10 gauge ). The sound of your music and movies will greatly benefit from having matching tweeters. The 3's sound good at all volume levels and are easily driven by even moderately powerful (50 watts) amps and receivers. I have mine spread by 10 ft. and still achieve a monstrous sound stage with all the imaging and trasparency of much more expensive speakers. If you take extra time to set them up properly, they will reward you with unbelievable results. I use a slight toe-in and they are approx. 7-8' from my listening position. I have them about 22" from the back wall and on the spikes (through carpet). I personally use bags of lead shot on top (13#) which IMHO helps to tighten up the bass and imaging. My converts are many (or I should say the Overture 3's converts) and my friends are owners too!! My music preferences are new age, jazz, world music, rock, ambient music, celtic music, pop.I even appreciate Gregorian chants. The 3's are masters of it all. Want more bass? Go the subwoofer route. The 3's have plenty of bass for my music tastes, but I use 2 subwoofers with all the overtures (I run everything as full range in the bass management set-up.) Happy shopping and don't hesitate to audition these babies!!! Similar Products Used: Infinity.JBL. |

Strength:
Clean natural high, crisp deep bass, not boomy at all.
Weakness:
Placement of the speakers is very important. This is one of the best pair of speakers I've listened to in its price range. Many have complained about its bass not being strong enough. Try repositioning it with the rear faces closer to the corner of the wall. If you are looking for Heavy Metal boomy bass, get a sub. I personally don't like boomy bass, simply coloration which sounds very artifical. Rather, Overture 3 gives out deep, really deep bass, crisp and clear. Try some recordings with very deep bass (not strong and massive bass) and you will tell. Similar Products Used: B&W 604, P5, Infinity Delta 60, etc. |

Strength:
Tight bass, beautiful mids, smooth natural highs
Weakness:
Almost too accurate For all those that audition these speakers, it is terribly important you concider the rest of the gear they are hooked up to. Admittedly, they're not a good match for 'warm' sounding amps such as H/K or some Denon gear. |

After over a year with these speakers I am still amazed at their ability to put forth a superb soundfield in both music and home theater modes. I was very disturbed by Corey Greenburg's comments about the Overture series in general in the very last issue of Audio magazine, where he asserted that this line of Infinity speakers was "unlistenable". He was reviewing their new Prelude series at the time and praised it effusively. I had always trusted his ears prior to that, but my ears say something completely different. Since these speakers are no longer available and have been replaced by the Intermezzo line I guess it's water under the bridge, but I had to get my two cents in. |
