Strength:

Tweeter, tight upper bass, hight sensitivity.

Weakness:

dont go low for the 15' woofer...

I have it for couple years. Bought new from a local dealer. The cell tweeter goes extremely hight(just like the sound from metal tweeters from many Canada speakers). The speakers can play very loud without distortion. But too bad, it can't go really low as a regular 15' woofer. I like the look of those. Today, they don't make these big speakers, take alots of spaces and heavy. Midrange is a bit bright. Very good for party. For a $500, you can't go wrong.

Strength:

Totally Awsome Speaker. I have had mine since the early 90's and they are absolutely Awsome. No problems ever. Several years ago one of my kids popped the cone in on one, and I put tape on it and pulled it back out. You cant even tell. These speakers are the best. I just upgraded my reciever to a Sony STR-DE845 with the Dolby Digital. I use these speakers as my main speakers and I have the SS 2001's as my rear surround, and the Sterling Video center channel in my system. I must say that all are awsome, but the SM-152's are at center stage in my system. They are THE top party speaker. Too bad they dont make these awsome speakers anymore.

Weakness:

The only bad thing is adjusting the knobs, they crackle a little bit, but this is minor. Once they are set, you dont mess with them.

I give them two thumbs up. Long live my SM-152's

Strength:

Amazing highs, deep bass, dependable, can hook up any piece of s%$t receiver to these and get great sound

Weakness:

If you don't mind their size, no weaknesses

I bought these beasts from a friend in 1996 and used them throughout college for parties. Alot of parties where people always asked about my speakers.
I can't begin to tell you about a dependable product with range. I once had a cop stop by my house and turn down my music. He was at the gas station 2 full blocks away. That is a true story.
The bass is fantastic (that's why they weigh about 70lbs each), especially if you can elevate them. I put them up on two hand made wooden stands and that helped alleviate the siding on my house shaking.
I listen to alot of Hip/Hop and Rap music and never had to worry about a song having "too" much bass.
Amen the guy in the other review who said they just don't make 'em like this anymore.
If I had the room and they matched my new surround sound sytem, I would keep them.
However, I now have to sell them :)
I will always consider them my babies. RIP

Strength:

Very good build quality. Good bass. Good highs.

Weakness:

The normal "crackle" when you adjust the mids. Size.

I've owned these speakers for about 8 yrs. now. Been through quite a few parties and never missed a beat. They look just as good as the day I bought them. No wear around the woofers. I think with the speakers coming out now days everyone is going for compact size with powered side firing subs. I too am looking for the smaller size because of room limitations. I've listen to the whole B&W line and have to say I'm very impressed with the cdm's. The 800 series are a little bit pricey, but, if you have the money I think they would be worth it.

Strength:

Beautiful looking speakers! Low bass, great highs!

Weakness:

one of my Slider adjustments does crackle when it's turned. the other is fine. They don't make much difference anyway and once you move them to where you like it does not matter!

These speakers are sadly no longer made. I've been looking for a pair for years! They have a beautiful wood grain finish and strong box construction. The highs are great! bass is awesome I turn them up half way and get scared something is going to break on my house. Everything vibrates. The 15" subs are awesome- I have a 12" powered cambridge subwoofer that is great but the combo of the both of them gets every db of low bass shaking They have dual 5" mids I think they should have went with 6.5's they seem to lack slightly. Big, heavy speakers these will last and last. Sony ES 120Watt RMS to each speaker and I never hear distortion. I Love these speakers.

I have 2 pairs of these speakers and they ROCK!!! They each have a 15" woofer and 2 4-1/2" mids, and a Polycell tweeter. You can also adjust the mids and highs. The only problem I had was one of the solder joints came loose on one of the crossover units inside the speaker, but I fixed it. I don't believe they make these any longer but man are they awesome. Sensitivity is 103. They're rated at 10-250 watts.

Strength:

Strong bass response, very efficient, great all around speaker. I would also like to add: great highs!!!

Weakness:

The built in adjustable crossover doesn't make much of a difference. Hardly a legitimate gripe though...

Great speakers for the money. Well built, heavy as all hell and they really pack some punch! I had been using a Kenwood Kr-V8050 to run them and to me they always sounded great, though I was never really excited about the highs. Turns out the problem was never the speakers it was the receiver I was using. I could kick myself for not figuring this out sooner. They sound amazing with detail I had never heard before. Great speaker, too bad they apparently don't make them any longer. If you ever have the chance to aquire a pair, do yourself a favor and pick them up. You will not be disappointed...

The Studio Monitor 152 is the absolute party speaker. They are some of the most efficient speakers that I have ever heard (excluding horn types). There are a few drawbacks though. There is a sufficient peak at the 80Hz point and the treble is very bright. The two speakers I have, very in frequency responce in the midrange, so they had to be tweaked appropriately. They were very difficult to get a flat responce from in my room but once I did I was rewarded with incredible sound. I recomend these speakers to someone that could use the efficiency to get a great deal of sound from a underpowered amp. They are built like a rock and have survived many rocking parties.
