Short-term bass(bass starts to fade out after about 2 weeks) These speakers are good for the price and are very good when you first get them. They have a lot of bass when you first get them, but it isnt very low considering they only go down to 40hz and they are in a sealed enclosure. If you know a lot about stereos you will probably know that sealed enclosures are not meant for bass, and ported enclosures are, ported enclosures are also 8 times more efficient than sealed, because they can store energy in the enclosure and move more freely. I sold mine for a pair of KLH fifteens which are about twice as good and about the same price. They are fifty watts more powerful, go down to 20hz, have two ports, have a super tweeter and sound a lot better. I bought my pair of KLH fifteens at bestbuy for about $90 each I think that the KLH fifteens are a lot better and you probably will too if you compare them. I geuss that the JBLs are alright if you have a realy good powered sub and dont put a lot of power through them. But I would highly reccomend the KLHs over the JBLs Similar Products Used: KLH |

Strength:
Great price at most stores, loudness/quality, appearence,
Weakness:
I think these have kinda plain tweeters/midranges but they sound allright. Not a whole lot of bass. I am 15, These speakers are not meant to go very low with bass, yet they still have pretty good bass. They are very heavy duty and I'm not afraid to crank my volume knob. Before I had KLH 9912 3 way's, but I saw this great deal cause these were on clearance and I had to take them. Now I've got it all hooked up. If you are like me, don't fork out alot of money, like loudness, like quality, then these are great. If your thinking about getting some, I recomend them. You may want to buy a powered sub or something if the bass isn't enough for you... (by the way, these have a real nice appearance) Similar Products Used: KLH, Pioneer, RCA, Citation, |

See my last review... This is just an update to my last review. These speakers continue to impress me more and more every day. I really blasted these for the first time the other day and was more than impressed, I was floored. I have a $200 Pioneer 100W / Channel reciever and had it just over 1/2 way up, and these speakers POUNDED. I had very bassy music on (JayZ - Can I Get...) and the bass was literally almost too much for my ears to handle. The mids and highs still stood out too, and the sound quality was as good as ever. Clear as winter air and soul-shaking bass to match. I took the front grille off to see the huge woofer exerting VERY far. Impressive to say the least. If you want any information on these just give me an e-mail I'd love to answer anything about my experience with them so far. Similar Products Used: See my last review... |

Strength:
Bass, loud
Weakness:
Large, weak midrange/tweeter It is really obvious that the woofers were focused on in this speaker. The bass is good enough that I have to look at my subwoofer to see if it is on. The midrange and tweeter are fairly weak, however. My Infinity bookshelf ones are much better at that. If you have no sub, consider these. If you do, then dont get them. Positioning them in a dorm room is a difficult task too. |
