Strength:

very sweet sound stage near fld, exellent mids airy 3D like sound from Q 6.5 and coax tweeter . no source point crossover distortion between the 6.5 & tweeter . you can listen to these all day and not get tired .buy any of the old KEF Q types they all sound great.

Weakness:

lack luster bass at higer volumes . sound like crap when you move past 10 ft away . tweeters will blow in heart beat, dont push these speakers past 110 db . not LOUD speakers if your looking for lots output look somewhere else, would have not payed list price for these back in the day

stole these off ebay for $40, grilles pretty messed up and a bad tweeter . got a new tweeter from KEF and really love em . great sound stage very warm but bright , the bass is lacking and a sub is still needed . the wont play real loud and distort if you push any sub bass into the crappy race track woofers passive combo , no wonder the they ditched that mess in new models .

Customer Service

outstanding !!!! and they say Query , got an email response in 3 hrs and tweeter shipped that day for $42 $ 7 shipping, it was 2 weeks the last time i contacted Boston AC before they even got back to me and then they wanted $120 bucks for 5.5 made in Maylay woofer plus $15 shipping and it was a week before it even shipped

Strength:

Nice low bass for movies.

Weakness:

poor imaging and very muddy.

Before I bought these I had already owned the Kef Q70, probably the best imaging speaker I've heard. I was setting up a Home theater and wanted to match the rears with the fronts. Unfortunately the Q70's were no longer available and was replaced by the Q75's. I thought hey I'll put these new "improved" models as my mains and use the old speakers for the rear. To my disappointment the Q75's were very muddy and the great kef imaging was completely gone. No matter were I placed it I can hear exactly were the sound was coming from. I ended up hiding them in the rear were they couldn't do much damage to the music. A very disappointing speaker.

Strength:

Very accuracte, great musicality, rich mid-range this is a nice well rounded package that brings the music home.

Weakness:

The vinyl black veneer is a disappointment unfortunaly the rosewood was unavailable but peel of the grills and you will certainly impress your friends.

These have been my dream speakers for while now. I haven't had Kef drivers in my speakers since I owned a pair of the British Cambridge Audio speakers.I since owned Mirage which always seemed lacking in presence and mid bass. These speakers seem to have it all. The soundstage is seamless and you truly get the feeling of the musicians being in the room with you. I call it musical excitement. I certainly have no complaints either when it's time for Dolby Digital Movies-great dynamics. This speaker would be good for Rockers or lovers of Jazz. Take a listen.

Strength:

Sound, clarity, detail, response

Weakness:

very low bass (20-40Hz),

I use a Marantz PM 90-SE amplifier, wich is a very good one, to 'drive' my Q75. You'll need a heavy boy to drive these speakers, but when you got one... these speakers perform very well. Much better than his little brother Q65. Sound is great, but that can be read in the other reviews in this page. A thing to keep in mind: don't place the speakers against or very near to a wall. Second, these speakers need space. Don't place them in a small room, if you want to have the best results.

Strength:

Great Imaging

Weakness:

Needed to have proper placement in my room

The Q75 now sounds great in my listening room. Great imagining, works well across a wide varity of music. The two issues that I have with them is the need for to resolve was doubling the size of my power amp from a 100 watt Demon reciever to a 200 watt rotel amp. The other problem was speaker placement. I started off with them pigeon toe a foot and half away from the two corner of my rome. I them moved them to the center of the 14 foot long wall of my listening room and the booming bass problem went away.

So if you have the proper room placement and enough power they a A++ buy, if not you are going to be disappointed.

I probably owned the Q-series. Recently I bought a pair of Q75 to compliment my Q70's in the rear and 200C in the center. I found the Q75 way too boomy for the bass. I wish they still sell the Q70's. I found them flawless.

I received my pair of Q75's last week and after a two day burn in period, I am very impressed with them. The highs are clear and sweet and the midrange is precise. Most of all I'm really impressed with the bass which is dynamic andtight. I had to turn down the bass on my subwoofer the Kef's were so good. I think that the Q75's bass is good enough to question the need for a separate
subwoofer. I compared the Q75's in my livingroom with a pair of B&W 604's and
Linn 5140's. The Q75's blew away the B&W's which are in the same price catagory and sounded just as good musically as the $2600/pair Linns. I might also add that the Q75's imaging is excellent. I also bought a pair of Q35's which I am
using as rear surrounds. My center is the Kef Model 100 and the speakers are driven by a Denon 3600 receiver and Yamaha M60 amp. I would highly recommend the Kef Q series speakers, for the price nothing comes close.

Weakness:

Blown away compared to others in its price-class

Barry Carlton, you are so wrong! I don't know about the Linn 5140's, but the B&W 604's (S2 that is, I presume you're talking about these, I haven't listened to the "old" 604's)are MUCH better not only in the bass, but also very clear in the higher tones and midrange. And the 604's are also a reasonable amount cheaper!

Now about the Q75 itself. It has quite some bass, but is absolutely blown away by the Mission 704 and 705, B&W DM603 S2, B&W DM604 S2, B&W DM605 S2, and the B&W N803 and N802. I haven't compared them with other speakers (yet), but for this kind of money better speakers can be bought!

Overal they ARE quite good speakers, but I wouldn't recommend them since there are better things to get for this price.

If you are nevertheless considering to buy these speakers, I suggest you listen to some other speakers first. And while you're at it, try the DM603's and 604's (S2 off course), and see (hear) for yourself!

Cheers.
