First I have to say that Damon got the DEAL of the century.A $130.00,WOW.I remember about 12 years ago hearing these and I was VERY impressed with everything that speaker had to offer. You can drive these speakers with 5 watts of power and be very satisfied. The Forte goes down as a CLASSIC in my book.

I too must agree that these were the golden Klipsch days with high-end sound at afordable prices. If I wouldn't listen to Klipsch Chorus I would have Forte's.

Strength:

Full range of sound.

I've had my Klipsch Forte II for 4 year back on June of this year(purchase w/surround system)and I've been completly satified with these loudspeaker since.
I purchased these at a local Audio King shop. Before buying them, I listened to a few loudspeaker before hand. I listened to Canton, B@W, Polk, and Boston's. The Canton's are a close runner with the Forte's, but the others were just garbage in my mind. The think that I love about the Forte's is the full range that they give you. The horn is utterly awesome!!! For being a drummer, the highs are very important. But the thing that surprised me was the tight, tight, tight bass and the very warm midrange. It one of the most accurate speakers I've listened to, sure I'd could of purchased a speaker that had a higher handling wattage, cost effective, and go with the flow of buying the item that the store sells the most of, but why scarify quality and accuracy?? Like the other reviews, I will not part with this speaker.

I bought my Forte's back in 1988 and have been awestruck at their sound ever since. They deliver way beyond their size. The horn tweeters and midrange give the clearest acoustic guitar, vocals and instrumental sound I've heard in the below $3500 range. Their bass is hearty & warm. Even a low-end system will sound great with these speakers. If it wasn't for my Chorus speakers having just a little more bass, I'd say they were perfect! The new stuff on the market either costs too much or doesn't deliver. It's been said before, and I agree, Klipsch needs to return to the "good ol' speaker days" to please it's loyal customers and build loyal new customers. Find an older set of Forte's and treat yourself to quality!

Strength:

Wonderful accurate sound

Weakness:

I have owned a set of Forte's for over 10 years. I have NEVER been disappointed. I enjoy acoustic music ( bluegrass, etc.) the banjo never sounded better. I am a music critic for the Audiophile Voice and have heard hundreds of different speakers, but NONE as satisfying for the money.

Strength:

Wonderful realism, bass-midrange-treble; beautiful to look at, with or without the grill cloth.

Weakness:

No longer manufactured; missing the bottom octave.

I have owned these speakers since 1988; they were then, and still are, some of the most realistic loudspeakers I have ever heard.
I take great pleasure in oiling the oak on these babies about every other month... the wood makes most modern speakers look cheap in comparison.
I am becoming increasingly fearful that one of the drivers will someday need replacing; if I am unable to find a replacement, it will cost me dearly to find a pair of speakers comparable to my Fortes.
My only complaint with these is that they do not reproduce the 20 - 32 Hz range; a subwoofer is in my very near future. I only hope I can find a balance that does not disrupt the very flat response I get from the Klipsch's.

Strength:

Clean sound!

Weakness:

Heavy... wouldn't be very good if you have any Gypsie blood in you.

So this is what music is supposed to sound like! These brought me to a new level of listening pleasure. Could be the best $500 I've ever spent. I got two Forte II's, Adcom GTP-400 Tuner, Adcom GFA-545II Amplifier and a Adcom GDC-700 CD player all for $500 plus shipping. I guess I should feel guilty... the original receipts sent with system added up to $3500. I added a Adcom GSA-700 Surround processor/amp, Esone 100 sub (not the best but will get the couch shakin while wathing Saving Privat Ryan), JVC SVA center channel and Polk Audio M1's for surround speakers. It has to be the best system for under $1000 that wasn't illegally obtained.

The smoothness and seperation of different instuments is impressive. Great for ALL types of music. If you can find these speakers you won't be dissapointed.

I have owned my Forte's for almost 13 years. I will have them for much longer. I have combined them with a pair of Heresy IIs (limited edition). Nothing has come close to comparing to having horns. My friends with Bose 901s even comment about the sound quality. I let them know that 4.5in "full range" drivers in their 901s cannot deliver the same depth of sound. They agree. Sultry is the best word I can use to describe the sound. They will seduce you too!

Simple put, Paul invented the horn speaker. I also owned them for over ten years. Thought about (upgrading to B&W's), but haven't found the need!

Strength:

Makes a sanyo amp sound good...and makes my Threshold amp sound incredible.

Weakness:

back breaker to move.

After buying our first house in 1989, my wife gave me permission to go ahead and buy this pair of speakers for our living room. I have replaced them 3 times. One time with a pair of b&W 602's. and 8 months later, with the nautilas 805's. I had also replaced them with a pair of 6ft. magnepans. Each time I'd replace them, I would just kind of set the Forte's in the den or the office. For some reason, I just did not seem to want to sell them like I did the others.
To this day, I have now put thousands of hours on this pair and still they knock me dead. They certainly do not look new. Actually they have been moved around quite a bit picking up a few dents and scratches here and there. This pair is back where they started...in my living room. Who knows whats next.
I may find a speaker that I think sounds better and I'm sure that I will pay 5 to 6 times the price of the Forte's.
Till then, Donald Fagen (nitefly) is about to play for me.
