I've had my Klipsch Fortes for about 12-15 years, and have replaced them within the last year, first with Magneplanar MMGs and then Magneplanar 1.6's. I originally got the Fortes because other speakers sounded thin by comparison. The Fortes produce a very rich sound, full frequency spectrum, awesome thundering bass. Perfect for heavy rock, home theater and organ music. The tanks in Saving Private Ryan sounded (and felt) as if they were rolling through my basement. If you're an afficianado of chamber music and tonal accuracy, you might want to look elsewhere (e.g., Maggies). I now use the Fortes for home theater and the Maggies for music.

I have owned the Klipsch Forte' for 14 years and over that time havelistened to a lot of speakers, always ready to upgrade to better
speakers. I have never found any speakers which please my ear
better. The only thing which might sound better is the ESS AMT-1B,
but I have never been able to A-B them. The Forte' is the best
buy for the money over an extended period of time.

Strength:

Versatile, clear, cost effective full-range performance, especially with mid-fi amplification because they are soooo efficient.

Weakness:

Directional characteristics require plenty of space to keep the horns from blaring, but only at high volume levels.

How low would someone sink to get a pair of these speakers? Would they slam them with a bad review to keep people from bidding them through the roof on ebay? ... Naaaa

At the time Forte II's were going for about $800, with one pair going for more than $1,100! Since that time, they have gone for as low as $400. After this review, who knows?

I was planning on using the Forte II's as main speakers, but then I found pair of Chorus II's for $600 only to have the seller tell me they had a second set for another $200. The Chorus II is the Forte II’s taller big brother with a beefier Tweeter magnet and a 15” Woofer in stead of the Forte II's 12", they both have the same Mid-Range Horn and 15" Passive Radiator. I took plenty of time to think it over, 'Should I buy 2 pair of Chorus II's for less than I paid for 1 set of Forte II's?' Hmmmm ... (about 2 nano-seconds later), the Forte II's are now surrounds. Please stop emailing me. They are not for sale. :-)

Weakness:

Not any !!!

I bought these Forte' I model speakers brand new in 1986
The rating on these speakers cant be beat 94db per one watt the only speaker that has a better rating is the cornerhorn at 104db per one watt. I have never heard a speaker play so loud, and so clean EVER
I was lucky enough to meet Paul Klipsh in PHX AZ and got him to autograph my Forte's
These speakers deserve a great amp dont cheat yourself !!!

Strength:

Very detailed

Weakness:

A little harsh with solid state

Ive have owned these speakers for 9 years. It was not untill last year when I purchased my first Tube Amp (Jolida 302A)that I really begain to fully appreciate these speakers. WOW with a tube Amp everything came together. The harshness is gone I find myself listening to these more than my $9000.00 Dunlavy SC IVa's. If you want to discover your Forte's all over again buy yourself a good tube amp. I am currently using 2 Jolida 801a's (bridged) with a Sony 7700 as a transport and a MSB III with silver interconnects and speaker cables.

I bought my Forte's in 1988 (since I was an undergrad in the US.), and still using it since.
I am very happy with it and still think that no other speaker can match my Forte.
...That tight and impact bass response... I'm in love with these Mama!!!

Strength:

a speaker that does it all! Great highs, mids and deep bass

Weakness:

Large

I would give My Forte II's 1995 vintage an A+ in every department...They just flat sound very very good.. i could really go on about their attributes because they have many many excellent characteristics..but suffice it to say they just deliver good good sound..I will sum it up by saying simply that the Fortes make the music come alive..The performers sound as if they are right in the room with me...That says it all...
I might add that i do use tube amps..A Decware Zen triode amp with about 5 wpc,.. a 2A3 triode amp with about 3 wpc and an old Eico HF-85 with maybe 12 wpc.. All klipsch speakers love tube amps even very low wattage.. My Fortes really sing with only a couple of watts!! :)
I give the Forte II's my highest recommendation.. For a pair of speakers under 5$500-$600 they are not to be equalled..

Strength:

Clear, crisp, and defined sound

Weakness:

none, except dissappointed that the product was discontinued.

I bought a pair of Klipsch Forte II speakers about 9 years ago. The sound defination is superior for the price. Still other expensive speakers don't sound quite the same. Friends of mine continue to complement the sound beauty & fullness. If one gets a chance to buy a pair don't miss the opportunity because you will be satisfied.

Strength:

incredible bass, nothing else matches, horns make speakers clearer than any regular drivers in majority of speakers.

Weakness:

dont make them anymore, actually there very heavy.

all klipsch speaker rock, audiophiles know.major brands(infinity, sony, bose, etc.)are all garbage, strictly make new models for volume sales and not for quality.have never blown a single speaker made by klipsch and i have 12 pairs of various sizes and all of them jam.
