Strength:
Great imaging for bookshelves, dynamic, very accurate - especially good for reproducing "unplugged" string instruments.
Weakness:
Needs a subwoofer for deep/loud low-end reproduction. In looking for my first set of "real" speakers, I listened to several competitors - Bose, Infinity, Polk, Paradigm, etc... and immediately fell in love with these. |

none The tweeter sounds so lifelike it sometimes amazes me. I have hooked them up to large power amps (200wpc) as well as small amps (50wpc)and no matter what they sound great. They produce good bass, but I prefer to run them with a powered sub to pick up where the klipsch leave off, which is pretty low for a speaker this size.No matter what I play (from KenMO to Metallica) they sound accurate. I would highly recommend these to anyone on a tight budget or just looking for a great bookshelf speaker. Also my wife will not let me part with these speakers, she loves them too. Strength:
beautiful sound
Weakness:
won't hit the deepest bass notes properly I've had these speakers for five years now, and I couldn't be happier for the money I spent - $400 for the pair, new. They sounded wonderful on bookshelves for a few years, and even better on stands now. They've been great in several different rooms and with two different Yamaha receivers. I listen to mostly music, but they've done great with my DVD player for the last 14 months as well. If you like huge bass, you may be disappointed with these speakers, but what do you expect out of bookshelves? They play everything from metal to hip hop to classical flawlessly, but need a subwoofer if you want to shake the room. I love these speakers. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Clean sound
Weakness:
Kind of bright, not much bass I bought these new in 1996 to replace a pair of Sony speakers ($100 floor speakers-real crap). I started out using them with a JVC amp/tuner from 1982-I still have this unit in my garage-it still works! A few months after I bought the speakers I went out and bought a cheap prologic receiver-did wonders for the sound quality. Then recently I bought a DVD player and realized all the weaknesses in my HT setup. I've since gone out and purchased Klipsch rear speakers, a Klipsch KSW 10 subwoofer, Klipsch SC 1 center channel speaker (well, I bought this last summer) and just this last weekend I bought a Harmon Kardon AVR 500 receiver.
